Ukarine want there own country free from Russia. So they are very fare away from what could be any positive negotiations at all. “Russia’s borders do not end anywhere” ran Vladimir Putin’s electoral slogan in January 2024, in seeming justification of a war of conquest in Ukraine meant to be over shortly after it began. But in a surprise turn two and a half years after the full-scale invasion, Ukraine decided to make good on Putin’s loose definition of sovereignty by invading the Kursk region in southern Russia on Aug. 6, in what has become the largest seizure of Russian land since World War II.
    Ukraine’s top commander, Oleksandr Syrskyi, says his forces have captured about 400 square miles of the region, which is opposite the northeastern Ukrainian region of Sumy.

The Russians are tangling with an army that has been trained, equipped, and supplied by the west since 2014. The only thing that the Ukrainians lacked was real air power- and that was because a real air force would have been clear evidence of western support, and therefore of aggressive intent. And for the record, I don't like Putin's police state style of government a whit. That said, you're not the first to underestimate the Russians. They're in this for the long haul and they're going to bleed Ukraine white- at great cost no doubt, but they're going to do it. A subsequent video from the same military unit shows another standing in a deserted street in another part of Sudzha. A dead Russian soldier lies on the ground. No gunfire or artillery can be heard in the distance, indicating the town is uncontestedly in Ukrainian hands. In notable contrast to settlements seized by Russian forces in Ukraine, the buildings of Sudzha seem almost completely undamaged. Much of this likely owes to the little resistance Ukrainians faced in their blitzkrieg.
    A Ukrainian source close to the military with firsthand knowledge of the operation told New Lines that the invading troops were shocked by how many prisoners of war they were able to capture on the Russian side and at the initial ease of their breakthrough across the border.

From running Operation Orbital to being first to supply Western MBT's and Cruise missiles, they have solidified support for Ukraine. Russian airforce "virtually unscathed"? Does this reporter works for the russians? Ukraine took out over 342 fighter planes and 325 military helicopters since the war began 2.5 years ago. That's one every day or every other day!

    • @eagleswing7201
      @eagleswing7201 Před 25 dny

      @@mrjerzheel As of right now the Oryx database lists 105 fighter jets and 14 helicopters as destroyed or damaged as visually confirmed. But please keep in mind that this is likely only the floor for the numbers. Jets and helicopters are probably in the category where losses might occur without much visual evidence somewhere behind the frontlines. Additionally we have not yet seen the impact of the drone strikes this week. The official Ukrainian numbers are probably the upper limit with the real number likely being somewhere in between. I would also like to stress, that when talking about aircraft some of the damage and strain might not only be in combat but also in maintenance and keeping up a high tempo of operation resulting in airframes wearing out or needing serious repair to keep them flying.

    • @eagleswing7201
      @eagleswing7201 Před 25 dny

      @@mrjerzheel another point I would like to make is, that another reason for the russian airforce being "virtually unscathed" is, that Ukraine has not been given either the capability or permission to attack airbases within Russia with anything but their own indigenous drones (and Neptuns). I was hoping maybe Gen. Hertling would call that out .
