  • This is a quick how-to on adjusting gimbal tension on the Radiomaster TX16S transmitter.
In the video I turned the hex driver CW and said I was adding tension. That is incorrect. Thanks to Chet for catching the error.

For anyone looking at this and thinking WTF... You probably have the newer gimbals and the manual doesn't even have a drawing of these, let alone instructions of any sort. They adjust front the front with a 1mm hex bit. The vertical axis is the screw on the central gimbal part (only visible when stick is moved up or down. The horizontal axis is the hex screw nearest to it on the outer front gimbal part. Yes there's 3 other screws that look the same but they are structural.

Yup, this was just a quick little reference video for those who've never done it before.

After a considerable delay the tx16s finally arrived today. Excitement soon disappeared! I need the throttle to start centred. I noticed a screw on the spring holder that seems to rest in a recess and act as a stopper. The other gimbal doesn’t have this, removing the screw allow the throttle to stay cantered. I’ve removed the screw. However I’ve noticed that there is slight play in the throttle stick, before the spring moves. Adjusting the spring adjusts the tension but not the play? Having watched so many tx16s videos all seemingly perfect this bursts the bubble!

That doesn't sound right. You should contact RM and ask for help.

Why my hall gimbals look different? Mine have holes on front unlike these. Plus I can't adjust height on my sticks either

That radio is an early version. They updated the gimbals since then.

Hi John. Thanks a mil for these vids, I really find them so illuminating. I wonder if you could help me. On every single video I have watched about opening up the TX16S they all mention that the two halves of the radio seperate completely.... except that mine doesn't. There are 2 wires that go off the top of the pc board to a round piece of hardware attached to the top part of the shell. If I was to guess, it looks like a speaker. I was worried that I had a problem with my radio, but everything else looks the same as the online pics. I almost tore the wires as I was opening the unit because I wasn't expecting to find them attached as they are.
Do you know what is going on? I wish I could share a pic with you...
    Thanks!

Yeah, Radiomaster recently added a speaker to the rear case half: Does it look something like this: czcams.com/video/VFVF1WcvVcM/video.html

@@RCVideoReviews yes, that's it exactly! Thank you!! No wonder I couldn't figure out why other people had a problem with the sound coming from the radio whilst I thought it was perfectly fine... Haha

3:29 You are turning the screw CW as saying ADD tension. Are you sure? More tension would require stretching the spring, which requires moving the "spring attachment point" farther away. Is the adjustment screw cut with normal threads, or CCW threads? Turning normal screw CW would PULL the attachment point towards you, thus slackening the spring. Haven't been inside your transmitter, just relating what was learned inside my Spektrum transmitter.
