This quilt is just stunning~ awesome job! When I cut the excess off my quilt sides before binding I leave an extra 1/8 in of batting that sticks out past the top and back. That way when you put on the binding it fills the binding up more. I also use 2 1/2 in strips to bind. Great video! Thanks

I learned to bind some time ago. I cut 1 1/2” strips, press in half lengthwise and machine sew to the back. Trim the sandwich to 1/4” then hand stitch to the front. It makes for a right-and-tight binding. I remember hearing a guild member’s complaint about a show judge’s comment that the binding wasn’t stuffed. Well mine wouldn’t ever have that complaint. 😉
I don't have that kind of patience, but I'm sure you would win for best binding. I'm envious that you can do that.
Thankyou. You make it look so easy. Im going to take the binding off of the partially bound baby quilt and start over cuz i was having a dilly of a time on the corners and quit after 2 and havent gone back to it.

Hey Lynne, have you ever used your left compensating foot to put the binding on when top-stitching ? I've seen others use it on their high shank machines. You did a great job, but just a little out of the video were we couldn't see. But overall, great 👍

I like it once I have finished the binding, but sewing the binding, at least for me, feels like I’m wrestling with an octopus. This is my least favorite step of the whole process.
It is a lot of work to wrestle the quilt.
