I confess: I'm a total Pavarotti addict! I can't get enough of this beautiful voice which is beyond imagination and indescribable; there are simply no words. Top it with his wonderful, boyish smile and I'm in heaven. Maestro, it's coming up to 10 years that you left us on Sept 6th but the pain will never go away. RIP, Lucianone - and thank you for all you have given to mankind with your performances and your humanitarian work!!!
I attended this performance, and I took my mother as an early Mother's Day present. She was absolutely enraptured with the entire live performance experience. She of course had seen Luciano on television, but it was a completely different experience to have heard him live. I also taped the performance with my VHS VCR, and I still have the tape. A wonderful memory of my dear mother who is now gone, and I am only left with her sweet memories.
@@cameronkennison8896 LP's voice was as beautiful as it is on records. The voice was neither large or small, but it filled the opera house. Domingo's voice in the same opera house completely filled it, but that may be due to the baritone quality his voice. If pressed, I would say that Domingo had the larger voice and it had a lot of color. I was an honored to have heard both of these great singers live in their prime.
@@cameronkennison8896 I thought that it was a dream because of the beautiful of the voices of both Pavarotti and Domingo. It's was a quality that is not captured in the studio. Some of the live performance of LP provide a similar experience.
I ADORE Pavarotti...this was a WONDERFUL post! He seemed to leave out a major portion of "Alma del Core" ...Oh well , he covered it... John Wustman is a genius... I'm so glad to see this again after all these years. I think Luciano was right - his voice WAS "kissed by God" And his pronunciation makes it a joy to listen to him. His singing is a masterclass for voice. I absolutely LOVE "Vaga luna che inargenti"...this whole program was a delight....all the best from Italian art songs and some of the greatest arias for tenor!
We are so fortunate that we had modern recording and video during this time period so the wonderful talent can be enjoyed for generations to come. I have been told of the early singers of the 18 and 19 centuries, but we will never truly know how they performed and sounded.

Marvelous! Remembering "Luciano Pavarotti in Concert" which first aired as part of KPBS San Diego's Winterfest '83(December 1983 Membership Campaign), Circa Saturday December 10th, 1983!!
I was surprised at the sound quality of this recording in that the performance was at San Francisco’s Civic Auditoreum, a general purpose hall that holds more than twice as many people as the Opera House which has better acoutics.
No he combed the hair from the side over the bald spot which was towards the back of his head, He had a lot of hair, could have taken some from the bottom back and transplanted it. now I think he might have, as picture not on stage shows large bald spot, maybe a little piece added to comb over, I dont know .

His Neapolitan pronunciation is a bit hit and miss though... In Ideale he was very Italian.... rather than Neapolitan....
