- Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" is an R&B/soul song written by Nickolas Ashford & Valerie Simpson in 1966 for the Tamla Motown label. The composition was first successful as a 1967 hit single recorded by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, becoming a hit again in 1970 when recorded by Diana Ross.
The way she looks at him, it's simply electric!

Moose@Slayanimations
@Slayanimationshis goddess and inspiration.
She had went thru 8 surgeries for that blasted brain tumor that kept coming back. She was blind, in a wheelchair by then, all of her hair was gone. Marvin had to help her off the stage at 1 of their performances.
even making the question Why Bad Things happened to Good People Valid and Relevant
Tammi Terrell (born Thomasina Winifred Montgomery), like Marvin Gaye, died too young. She died a month before her 25th birthday in 1970. She would be 71 today. She was involved with James Brown for two years. The relationship ended after he started hitting her. She endured eight surgeries for a brain tumor that kept coming back. At the end of her life, she was blind, confined to a wheelchair, lost her hair, and weighed 93 pounds. Her angry mother refused to let anyone from Motown attend Tammi's funeral because the label had pushed Tammi to perform, even when she had severe headaches and other symptoms of the tumor. She collapsed on stage, and Marvin helped her get offstage. Marvin was the only one from Motown allowed to attend Tammi's funeral because her mom felt he was a good friend to her daughter. Tammi was cute, talented and smart -- a pre-med major in college. To have her life cut short is tragic. R.I.P., Tammi and Marvin. You are singing together again.
Your comment was beautiful and I learned something.
Thanking you.

He may have been one of the only men that didn’t hurt her, beat her or use her. You can tell she felt safe with him. Sad endings for too beautiful souls
he really really loved her, we can tell because he never looked that happy again after she died...
He literally isolated himself for 3 years after she died. He had a wife the whole time, imagine how she felt with all of that.
The Dasher Dash she understood, to her credit. She was much older than Marvin, so she was the mature one.
Let us learn from this!
The Dasher Dash I also read that he isolated himself for 3 years, but I dont understand that timeframe, because Tammi died in March 1970, and Marvin releaaed ‘What’s Going On’ in May 1971, with a tour not long after.
Two beautiful voices. Two tragic fates.
Tammi (the female singer) in this video got cancer in the 1970's and unfortunately died of it in, and Marvin (the male singer) got depression because of her death, Marvin later in 1984 got killed and shot by his own father.
@@MrNov93 I had no idea that is so sad. RIP
His father killed him and then shot him?? Man that’s crazy.
@@da-knee7580 he had to intervene in an argument with his parents and that led to an escalation in marvins room. An old ass man shoots his own son. That argument with his wife must have been brutal for him to do anything like that to his son.

She was so pretty! And what a singer she was. She left 51 years ago today at the age of 24 and has been forever missed since. Marvin never never got over her death. She should have had a longer life and career. Tammi if this world were mine you would still be here. Marvin too!

@@LeapofFaith47 She died of a brain tumor, had many operations. At one point she showed signs of getting better and recorded more with Marvin. At her funeral Marvin broke down said it was all his fault. Marvin would continue his musical career, self abuse /drug abuse and finally shot to death by his father, his dying words 'it's alright, I got what I wanted'. At the 00:47 part when the amazing & beautiful Tammi Terrell does that thing w her tongue while she dances & bops to Marvin singing.......Timeless.
Tammy was very theatrical. My fave move is at the 1:23 mark when she says STOP me baby and faces the camera and does the stop sign with her hands. That was a direct “shot” at Ms Ross. Tammy and her didn’t get along cause Ms Ross was Berry Gordy’s fave and all the Motown girls were getting marginalized. But when. Tammy and Marvin got together and released hit after hit, their power at Motown rose and even eclipsed the Supremes for a bit. Sadly Tammy got ill not long after and died a couple years later. Tragic.

I'm so sorry for your loss, may he rest in peace
😱 THAT'S JUST 😭 GOD BLESSED YOU 🤗
I'm really sorry, this is a terrible thing. I'm glad he could appreciate this song and let it bring some joy into his life
I understand and agree with you having to move on to find someone else to love you for yourself 💗🤠
Heartfelt condolences and utmost respect
Cherish His memory as I am certain you do.
God bless you and your family
It's SO rare to find video of Tammi, so am absolutely thrilled this one exists and in such HQ. It perfectly showcases her potential had she not passed and the amazing chemistry these two had. Tammi may have died young, but this song is legendary and will NEVER be forgotten.
Had that same thought. They both look great but Tammi sparkles.
Allen M. Quinn bacana
In my opinion she was the greatest female vocalist to come out of Motown
@@jermainethomas1570 She sounds like she can do Motown, soul, country, R&B, the lot ... and stand up comedy. She was made for TV or film as well as music.
Damn!!! Gaye literally looks like he's having a casual conversation.......wow.
In my opinion the greatest Duet i have ever heard.
Who’s still listening to my beautiful cousin tami Terrell in 2020✨❤️
Is your cousin?
i will always love her and marvin
I'm still listening. I play guitar and learned bass to get that Motown Bad Bass sound in the 60s. Professionally backed up The Shirells and did a private party with Mary Wells with "My Guy". Rest In Peace, Miss Tammy Terrelll.
Me!!! In 2021. Great song and beautiful voices...❤
Greetings from Germany. What a wonderful Song. Believe in the good Things, 24/7
Yep
It so heartbreaking they both died from tragic deaths. Gaye died from his father's hand while Tammi died from cancer.
She died from james brown and the other guy from temptations
@@antonioscott2700 Your comment is untrue and made no sense
@@rodericksutton7782 oh I think he was tryna say by her getting abused on multiple occasions lead to her death
@@mioriduh3300 She had a brain tumour, not saying her being abused was ok but it did not lead to her death
@@hannahdyson7129 i know im saying what the other person though like explaining what they said
Man, sparks were flying between these two. Husband and wife material!
Seriously, how can people dislike such a great song. Wow.
Спасибо Шихман за историю этого шедевра) Тамми и Марвин покойтесь с миром! Вы оставили большой след в истории музыки! Вашу музыку слушает весь мир. Браво 👏
Exactly
I agree with you. Greetings from Spain.
Marvin Gaye was such a handsome man back then.
Hello Jo, how are you?
This is beautiful music. 😀😃
My mother jus passed away, but 15 yrs ago when i got in trouble for the first time at 16, when I finally got out she missed me so much and this was her song specifically dedicated to me😢😢😢man i miss her...
Sorry to hear dude keep strong
It's been 50 years since Terrell passed. Rest in peace.
He is doing such a big effort just to not stare at her all the time and kiss her, and she has one of the sexiest, beautiful and tender voices I ever heard, and his smile is so natural and spontaneous. Always when I hear this song I feel such tranquil happiness and bittersweet saddnes, may they both rest in peace.
One of the most beautiful couples ever. Modern cool encapsulated. It hurts to know they where both gone too soon.
