“96 Degrees in the Shade” is a dramatic and musically powerful retelling of the events of the October 1865 Morant Bay Rebellion, led by African Jamaican Baptist deacon and preacher Paul Bogle who led a protest against the British colonizers and oppressors in Jamaica in the town of Morant Bay. Bogle was captured by British government troops, tried and convicted by British authorities and hanged on 24 October 1865 in the Morant Bay court house. Bogle is now one of Jamaica's seven National heroes.

This is a fantastic Reggae group I watched live on stage as a student at the university of Benin ,Benin city Nigeria in 1982.IT was a very exciting moment for everyone particularly when 96 degrees in the shade was played there was electricity of excitement in the hall. I watched them live on two different day. One love.

KINGSTON, Jamaica --William ‘Bunny Rugs’ Clarke former lead singer of the popular band Third World has died.
Clarke who would have turned 66 on Thursday, February 6, had been in intensive care for some time.
According to Colin Leslie, a close friend of the singer, Bunny Rugs passed away at 11:00 pm Sunday at his home in Orlando, Florida. He was released from the Intensive Care Unit of an Orlando hospital last week after two weeks of treatment for leukemia.
He missed a number of engagements linked with the celebration of Third World’s 40th anniversary last year but it was generally felt that he would have recovered enough to return to Jamaica this month.
Clarke was born in Mandeville and replaced ‘Prilly’ Hamiltion as lead singer for the band in 1976. His first album with the band was ‘96 degrees in the Shade’ but is best known for the hits ‘Now that we found Love’ an O’Jays original, and ‘Try Jah Love
