- The EVA-01 goes berserk and takes out Sachiel. However, it has yet to shut down. Mazinger Z then takes on the berserk EVA-01 and after managing to stop it, dragons and the 5th Angel arrive. Rei and Shinji soon launch in their EVAs to deal with the Angel. Once all enemies are defeated, Tetsuya will leave the team while Rei, Shinji, Kouji, Sayaka and Boss join the team. Also, Rei meets Nine and the result is hilarious.

I always love how in SRW its shown that if Shinji wasn't surrounded by what basically is human filth, he could be a better person.
The interactions between Koji and him are pretty cool here.

In NGE _everything_ was stacked against him. That was deliberately engineered to break him into a coward and even then it didn't completely succeed either.

Seems the encouragement to Shinji is easier compare to previous SRW. Even Super Robot pilots shows smile to him.
Believe me, in this game, the plot was VERY KIND to Shinji. It goes against everything that happens in the movies, and AVERTS the Third Impact.

Gendo, I know animes tend to work a certain way, but you can't just shove your son into a mecha and expect it to turn out okay; He needs to trip in first, but good try.
Also, I'm surprised they didn't have Hilda make a quip about how Ange and the Angels are alike. Seems like a missed golden opportunity for her to get another jab in just for kicks since they're still not quite in good terms.
The thing is Gendo doesn't WANT him to be a good pilot. He wants him to fuck up and trigger Third Impact so he can be with his wife again. He did this to Shinji on purpose so he would be a wimp. So yeah...this is intensional.

Only SRW X after this game has Gurren Lagann, but the upcoming SRW T will feature the return of Gunbuster since Z3.

I guess that Simon and Shinji are similar in that both need a punch to the face to get well. The difference is in the scale of said punch.

Just because you lose easily doesn't mean it's hard. Like Stage 14, where you have to kill a bunch of Dragons that can take out your unupgraded Para-mails in two hits, and all your pilots are complete crap with extremely limited spirit commands. I lost half a dozen time, on a *second play through*. It wasn't hard, just annoying.

If we're talking canon abilities and not SRW, I don't think Great Mazinger has anything in its arsenal capable of piercing EVA-01's AT Field.
