This reminds me of youtuber, Simcoe Spring Service up in Quebec where they deal with extreme rust belt by power hammering and smoke wrenching as the first approach to rusted fasteners. Makes me appreciate dealing with issues living in NM.
Get the 'good' stuff. I bought the cheaper lower arm assemblies (first time for any vehicle, I usually rebuild them) for my Neon, rather than just bushes. Fitted them up, and camber (non adjustable) was way out. I ended up buying bushes, swapped them into the old arms, did the whole job a second time, and alignment was spot on. Close enough ain't good enough.
Detroit axle is great. I got a front suspension rebuild kit including upper control arms, lower ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar links and even front hubs for like $250. Well worth the money in my opinion.
You should get yourself one of those flexible camera holders for Christmas. That way we can actually see you do the work. Sometimes that’s better than having to explain what you’re going to do, then explain again what you just did. Id be curious to see the actual work, even if you have to speed it up 4x.
I am working on several improvements for the channel that I was hoping to have implemented by now. But because I was in a very limited capacity (physically) for nearly 2 months , it's pushed it back to end of winter or early spring. It will get there however . I do appreciate the input !! It helps guide me on improving the content . Thanks for watching !!
@@WrenchingWithKenny absolutely! I love seeing those air hammers go to work. And those sped-up sequences of the beating, banging, torching, knuckle busting jobs are fun to watch too. Hope you’re healing up well!
@@stephenrickstrew7237 I park my GF's 2003 Malibu next to my Lucerne in hopes rust finds it more attractive than my car. Kinda the 'anode' principal. Doesnt work. Ive so far replaced brake lines, Transmission lines, Power steering lines. :( lol..
The weakness of cathodic protection for vehicles is the lack of a contiguous electrolyte bath to allow charged particles to migrate between anode and cathode. Little droplets of water confine those charged particles to the size of the droplet, so you'd need thousands of anodes, one for each drop of water, to give adequate protection. They work great in boats, and even occasionally for buried/submerged iron pipes, but are ineffective in cars. Sacrificial anodes were tried in cooling systems, but the coolant doesn't have the electrolyte you need for useful galvanic protection.
Hard pass on Detroit Axle parts for me. They are 20 miles away from me, and I have done business with them in the past. You are better off buying the cheapest garbage parts on Rockauto if you want to go that route of price.
Detroit axle is thw worst crap ive ever used. Gave them 2 chances. Each time parts failed pre maturely. Customer service waa horrid. Didnt honor warrenty. Never again
I am glad you covered the part about loading the bushings. Many miss that point.

Thanks for watching! Keep wrenching 🔧
Great job Kenny-that’s surely not a job for the faint hearted. 😂😂
Not a terrible job , but definitely not for a novice

How do they compare to Moog parts?
I once had a great mechanic who insisted on only using Moog.
I use two grinders. 4.5 inch and a larger one. Just cut the arm apart and the bolts. Replace hardware. Had to take shock out too.
I usually cut it all off and put new stuff on new bolt kit.
been there ive never had that pin fall out it use to have them plastic guides it had been aligned before thats why there gone good luck on the sale!!
That was a first for me ..
Thank you sir !!
Detroit axel good parts

I was thinking the same thing regarding the camera. Maybe a go pro. Great channel Kenny.
@@DaddyyCrab Thank you . There is stuff in the works !!
It's in the ball park
New camber bolts and hack them off
Nice of you telling us what to use for lube or grease. It makes our job easier. Thank you. 🔧🧰🪒
How do you sleep at knowing what you have to face the next day?
LOL 😆
How much dump truck
I’m thinking..Maybe bolt a sacrificial anode to the frame …?
In the north I think the anode would just be an appetizer for the rust before the main meal :)
@@northpoint1039 it might wet oxygen’s appetite for steel

Looks like it hasn’t had a grease job in awhile. 😮
