None, it's wat too expensive and the people are complete A-holes. Nothing "Pura Vida" about that county. Worst traffic, dangerous roads that are full of potholes. Tons of government corruption and tourist always get ripped off. Worst mistake I ever made was moving their. Now I live happily in Brasil.

Beautiful video! I'm glad you had a good experience overall. I'm a local. I work with expats in Costa Rica and also vacationers on a local project called TICO BE LIKE. I can tell you that you're right, there is so much diversity here that choosing the right place to visit/live is so important. Advertising vs reality! We're all different and while some people might find a place too touristy or hot, for others it's just the perfect spot. The key is to find the right place that suits our personal needs/preferences.
As a Costa Rican, I am grateful for the time and energy that went into creating this beautiful, well thought out video about Costa Rica. A great country with its good and bad sides!

As a Costa Rican citizen this vedeo make me feel proud but at the same time very concern about the reality of conservation programs in my country. Your travel documentary is just amazing, but also so honest and very valuable for all those who want their childrem an grandson to have the chance to enjoy all the treatures in nature we still have in our small country. Thanks for visited Costa Rica and I hope nest time you come back, things you pointed as dangerous for presevation of nature and wild life, will be corrected and eliminated. If your country and its people will ever hope to have the same amount of money and freedoms as other countries, you will be forced to develop and lose some, but not all, of that nature and wildlife. The world has a limited amount of space, and a very large multiplying amount of people on it
Nothing to be concern. All the plantaticion in Costa Rica have many scientific studies, most all of them are not Monoculture anymore,

The blue water at Rio Celeste is the result of two rivers merging, each carrying different minerals that react when mixed leaving a white residue at the bottom where the merging happens and resulting in the beautiful blue water that eventually reaches the waterfall. It is amazing!

Hey, to every one watching, if your thinking about going, you have to, I went for the first time in Oct, I Landed in Liberia, and spent the weekend at Hotel Javy, Nice little place, then i went to Arenal Observatory Lodge & Spa, for the week, it was so Great, every morning waking up to the Volcano out my north window, and the Lake my west window. Plus the Birds and sounds, I must have hiked 20 plus kilometers that week, the food is Amazing, and the entire staff was so friendly and likable, can't wait to go back again next Oct 2023. I'm only a third of the way into this video, and see many places i need to visit on next trip 🙂.............K

We are going this October (La Fortuna/Tamarindo) but a lot of people don't recommend going that month specifically because of the rain. Did you find that to be disruption to your planned activities? I don't mind the rain but I would be worried about road conditions. Also landing in Liberia.

What the fail to mention is that if you are a physically disabled tourist who want to enjoy some.of the beauty Manuel Antonio National Park is one of the few that created paved walkways through the.lush greenery so that those in wheelchairs or with assistive walking aids can enjoy....

I managed a hotel on the beach in Jaco for a couple of years and I saw wildlife that would have raised Richard Attenborough's eye-lids. I also saw a murder, a suicide, a lot of drug deals and several hundred prostitutes coming to town every weekend. I loved it!

Not many English people visit Costa Rica but I did. Photographing exotic butterflies around San Jose. My only problem was the occaisional aggressive beggar. Otherwise I was made welcome, No I don't speak Spanish. Great trip.
Costa Rica began decades ago with a major effort to reverse the damage of reforestation during a welfare state period that came after the abolishment of the army that brought better school education with an emphasis on the environment. The expats arrived later but the actors in caring for the environment in Costa Rica are the ticos.

Fascinating video, this will be my 45th year of travel and residing in CR. One thing I did not see in this well produced vid is spending time with local Tico’s. Mostly gringo, higher end vegans. Not a criticism, simply an observation. Tuanes mahe..

awesome video! I'm coincidentally planning to go Costa Rica in a few months so this was extra helpful, especially the vegan options. Unfortunately I can't drive, do you guys know if it would it be easy to get around otherwise? (perhaps even by cycling?)
Awesome! You can get around using a bus. Cycling may be difficult but could be possible in the west coast
They also have local flights!
You can buy a gas assisted bicycle, it looks like a motorbike, but by having pedals, it is consider a bicycle, so it doesn't require a license, papers or permits, though you cannot travel through main highways. When you leave the country, you can sell it and regain a lot of the cost.
I've traveled with that baby through the northern part of the metropolitan area which has volcanoes, lakes and rivers, and it consumes a couple of bucks of gas per travel.

Vegan pancakes 🥞 😋 😍 I was vegan for 17 years !! Now,vegetarian for 15 years !! I still enjoy vegan stuffs a lot ! We've got tons of vegan ,or organic cafes/ restaurants here in L.A.,but really really expensive !! That must be so nice to eat at the restaurant !! I went to Costa Rica. Many years ago... And much to my dismay, as my plane flew cross country to the Pacific hotel where I was booked, I saw that it in Isha country of palm farms, palm oil farms, with some nationalnoarkes along the coast. The parks, and the towns surrojnding them, at the time of my visit, were where the "jungles" were. Iow, the original jungles and been turned I tinfamrs and only oatches here and there were where u see the kinds of "jungle" shown here. .
True. Monocrops replaced the original forests beginning with cattle ranches in the north, then banana, pineapple and oil palm plantations in the South and Caribbean. Not a real "green" country!
I love costa rica and costa ricans but all countries un the world are getting succumbed to palm oil greed in the world and over tourism and commercial entities. even locals and tourists (some) who do care about environment are sometimes limited in what they can do same experience here, I was in costa rica 12 years ago and there were much fewer palm oil farms now after 12 years and it seems there was more awareness (i used to see label like sin aceite de palma but now palm oil is sold in huge cans!) now palm oil plantations seemed to have increased 50 fold or more they seemingly endless on highways. even the most remote corners like Osa have over tourism, there are people who keep outdoor cars who say themselves have seen killing areas teeming with bird populations and tourists and some who cater to their needs (i’ve seen loads and loads of trash bags piled up in places that can sustain that many tourists)! i am not point fingers at anyone but it is perhaps a problem that needs collective effort and resolution and not just pertinent to costa rica. i just do my part in not buying anything with palm oil (i heard even pineapple plantations are just as bad), use biodegradable, i even bought some of the packaging back to where i live (things i couldn’t avoid buying) where it can be recycled, support local products, sustainable projects, organizations but beyond that i feel helpless. anyway just shared my concern about this beautiful country that should be protected by all. but on a slightly positive note i feel costa rica is much more environmentally aware than other countries and i hope it improves.

The 65,000 acres of palm oil in Costa Rica is only 3 % of the palm oil in the world. .
I am just returning from 8 months of travels in Wurope and central and west Asia. Planning to go to central America and south America early next year. On top of my list is Costa Rica! This was a very informative video and great drone workd. You covered primarily the west side. Is the east different that the west? Thanks!

Which month did you visit? You mentioned raining season, which month was it? I booked mid august to go there, do you think the weather will be in mid august?
Hi, we went in June which is the start of the rainy season. We were advised to stay away from September to October due to heavy rain. August may be a little bit wet.
I asked a few staff at our motel/hostel about hiking waterfalls and what to wear on our feet. She said we make.very little money in Costa Rica, cost of.living is high and we cant afford the fees to these places. Many waterfalls are on land that is privately owned.
Likely way too hot and humid for me. But it is a beautiful place.
It's nowhere near as hot as you think it is, especially during the rainy season.
How do you manage to be at Los lagos hotel viewing deck? Did you have to book a night at the Los Lagos hotel?
We stayed there it was one of the cheaper hotels in La Fortuna
Beatifull, but I Wonder why the caribbean side and the high lands of the country are not included. There is quite a lot of amazing places there too.
We only had 3 weeks. We would definitely like to visit next time :)
I was just at Manuel Antonio in September of 2022, it was beautiful. I seen sloths, monkeys, swan in the warm ocean. It was very touristy, and they will try to scam you on the parking. Luckily I researched before my vacation and was already aware the way the locals will take advantage of white tourists, AKA gringos..😊

How can you guys say a palm tree is harvest for couple years. The palm never stop grow and produce . but the Tree is size manageable till 20 to 25 yeas of age.

Hello! I have a question. Are the clips about the palm oil forests here in CR? Or just a random video? It makes me sad, I didn't know about this
Costa Rica, but also around the world in areas like Borneo
The deforestation is not here. The palm trees can produce till 25 years from that age is all ready grow big and can be unmanageable so is replaced with new growing are all ready starting produce in the 3rt year
If you guys are still out here, you should let me show you around the country. Also, Follow my channel Livin La Pura Vida to see what Costa Rica is really like. This video only shows you maybe 10% of the country. My family is from Limon and I live in San Jose. This is more of a tourist perspective so for the viewers, you should not move here based on that. The economic state of this country is in a crisis and all the foreigners that move here, raise the property value which causes many locals to lose their homes... We hangout with indigenous tribes and have some environmental videos about the coral reefs and pollution coming with MareBlu. The road you guys took to Arenal isn't the route you want to go btw. There is a different one that is an actual 2 lane highway most of the way. There is normally 2 routes to any place around the country.
