Great presentation!! I studied at Deakin back in early 90s. I hope I can revisit the campus again.

Things have improved since last studied there in 2014! When I was breastfeeding/pumping in 2012, there was nowhere to pump. I ended up using an out of the way disability toilet in the Nursing building (I studied nursing). I had been offered the staff lounge or the Womens’ Lounge, which are all not private spaces. Pumping for me was a pure necessity and very private. I’m glad Parent Rooms are now an option.
I sent my first child to the Deaking Community Co-Op childcare which was incredible! I’ve had another child, & wish I’d had that quality for her too, as we moved away.
I used to really struggle with a pram from some of the far off bus stops across the long bridge- lots of stairs. Glad to see that’s improved.
I adored my time at Deakin. Now as a relatively more senior nurse (than I was!) I love seeing the odd Deakin nursing student at my workplace.
I also got to experience a Study Abroad nursing study tour. It was just wonderful.
Deakin just gives that perfect balance of theory, but with an above average practical component. Sure there were admin issues like every institution I’ve studied at, and I hope clinical placements have become easier to arrange because those were a nightmare as a mature student and mum. (Of course much of that is due to the employers/facilities.)
I truly wish my specialty (Oncology/Cancer Nursing) was offered as a Post Graduate option at Deakin. I wish I could study with them again! I’m going with Uni of Tasmania as an off campus option.

Very Informative video, I joined Deakin at the start of 2022, before joining I watched this video, now after being in campus, based on my areas of visit, I can confirm some of the places mentioned in the video, it’s accurate depictions and representations. So far I plan to stay on the Burwood campus, maybe you guys could make more parts to the virtual campus tour videos, showcasing all the other facilities, that would have been handy for me before joining the campus, other than the in person tours, for convenience. Another thing, film the video in a 360 camera with decent quality footage, the video becomes even more interactive with the narration, it’s gives some sort of next levels geeky vibes, which is quite fancy.

Is there a higher chance that the gym is open to anyone who wants to get some exercise meaning by that is not considered necessary to book in for advance? I remembered last time I studied at Box Hill Institute the campus gym is only allocated to any students who are involved with this course classified as ‘Sport and Recreation Management’?
