- I look forward to making these crosses every year on Palm Sunday. If you want to learn how to make them too, then I hope this tutorial is what you are looking for. I'm glad to share with you how to make them - and hopefully share the love of Christ, too!

Just done attending palm sunday mass...i am from a country where you buy palm leaves and they already make it a cross when you buy them. Now the church gave us just palm leaves and i want to make it a cross. This is a very big help. Thank you so much jackie

I love making them too. I keep some and whenever somebody is in the hospital, I bring them a palm cross with a piece of wire on it as a loop, to hang up. I usually bring a prayer card with Jesus or Our Lady on it as well. :)

Thank you for this! A local church, NJ, had drive thru palms today. My sister and I ventured out, wearing gloves and our last few painter's masks, and collected 2 palms. I just made this...although the back of mine does not look as neat. ☺

Remember, if you cut off any of the palm, the discarded part must be burned since it is blessed.

yes, good reminder! As far as I know, I believe they can be burned and the ashes spread outside, or they can be buried, or they can be returned to your parish to be used for the ashes for Ash Wednesday the following year.
Not if you make them yourself at home. From your own palm trees. They are not blessed or from a church .

This is the same technique here in my home country, the Philippines, of how to make a cross out of the palm leaf then stapled with a colorful ribbon out of foil of any colors and with other leaf in the middle and then place on a cycad palm or adding a halo made of a palm leaf or made into triple cross or with other leaf branches, then selling to those who attend the Holy Mass of Palm Sunday! This was traditional and common practice among all of the Roman Catholic Filipinos to have their designed palms blessed by the priest on every Palm Sunday Mass to placed on their doors or even altars!

If your Palm stock seems a little too dry - soak them in luke warm water so they become softer to bend and stretch. But, doing this method while Palm strands are still fresh makes things move along easy peasy.
