- Faron Young and Willie Nelson telling stories and joking around about how Faron ended up recording Willie's song "Hello Walls." Then Faron and Willie perform the song together.

When country music was real. No auto-tune, no flashing bullshit lights, lasers and stages. Just real country singers singing from their hearts. Pure, solid country gold.
Ahh yes, the days before the Oklahoma Punkin Head ruined country music.
@@glennmuir5617 Well, I know a little about the history of Country music (I've always called it Country Western but I guess that is "passe" now) but that is a new one on me. Just who is Oklahoma Punkin Head??
@@brgilbert2 Punkin Head is the infamous Garth. That he has a punkin head and that he ruined country music is a long running joke among those who actually like country music.
@@glennmuir5617 Ah!! Garth Brooks!!
The same can be said for pop and rock as well.
Even in a room full of country legends, Faron commands the rooms. Guys a legend.
I know this may sound stupid to many people who are just casually browsing through the internet, but this little clip made my year.
Me too
not many recent comments here.. lol.. i just love finding these gems of old country icons of years ago, relaxing and kicking back with their friends and jamming.. this one is a great find. stay safe with covid raging, folks.
Covid is not raging now because Joe said to kill it. It was designed to take out a great President....Trump, and it did.
When the great music was here
@@DouglasUrantia I believe that statement

I can't listen to the new country, it's so brain-dead written for idiots, why can't they at least try to write music anymore
I was backstage with Faron in my DJ days and he told that same story. Hanging out with Faron could wear you out, he was so full of great stories and one-liners. He had about 80 C&W hits, and I think he should have had a lot more pop hits. Truly one of the giants!
From when country folk liked each other and worked together.
amen
Thank God they recorded this. Faron had such a great sense of humor. His voice still sends a chill through me. What an amazing talent.
The artists respected each other’s ability to write. Instead of taking Willie’s money, FY loaned him $500.They had a true belief in the other’s ability to write songs, & didn’t want to “kill the golden goose” as it were. Much respect to the men for keeping their word to each other. Wish things today were more like this.
[Frankie Butler] An interesting point of fact. Read an article many years ago about Willie Shoemaker and the contract he had with his agent, a simple hand shake that lasted all those decades that Willie rode horses. That same article pointed out, that back in those days (pre-WWII) a hand shake was considered a binding contract in a court of law.
There was more talent in that room than is all of Nashville right now.
I agree, Faron told me that story himself. In my country music DJ days I worked a couple of shows with Faron and what fun he was to hang out with. I really miss him, with his talent and skill on stage he was a true giant in country music.
I love faron,he broke my heart when he committed suicide. He had such a great personality and is truly a country legend.
The artists today don't have the bond these guys did. They can't because most of these guys were all poor together before they made it big finally. If the walls at Tootsies could talk, man the stories it would tell. These stories are classic and best told by the guys who were there. The stories never get old, but they do sometimes get bigger!
***** Oh, yeah. In order to sell their trash though, they have to act trashy!
***** lol! : ) Cool! I couldn't resit, Caleb
God, I love Faron Young. What a gifted vocalist!
Faron was a hoot alright. I wish I could have been around to see some of the practical jokes he played on his friends. He left this world on his own terms. RIP Sheriff.
I remember one of my Sgts calling into the Country music station in Amarillo, Texas and requesting this song for all the prisoners we had in the Base Confinement Facility. Then he would ask for the song "I walk the Line" for all the B-52 aircraft guards walking the flightline out in the SAC area of the base. Being stationed at Amarillo is where I really got my first true taste of the great Country and Western music that I love today. Listening to all these great singers from back in the 50s-60s is wonderful. Faron Young, Jim Reeves, Jim Brown, to name a few. This was back in the early 1960s.
If you don't learn to love country music in Amarillo, then you aren't listening to music. You were in a good era.
Willie has wrote some awesome songs!
Two of my all time country music stars and I still love them both. Bad thing that Faron had to leave us so early....1996 I believe. Sad very sad....
I'm 37 Y/o...grew up in TX and was fortunate enough to have grown up listening to the great like him.
Love that ending. Willie and Faron are hilarious. And I love how Waylon just rocked back and forth the whole time. He always does that, it’s cute. All his makes me smile.
The "Greats" of the old days --- can't be beat!!!
OMG !!! look at our fresh faced Willie Nelson... did'nt recognise him.. thanx for you talents Willie...you cutie you!!!

So hard to believe that Willie once was this clean cut suit wearing young man. If his name hadn't been on there the first time I saw it years ago I would never have believed it. Willie is the man. Love his music till this day.

How truly awesome it would be to be as talented as this group of people. Not the auto tune "artists" in today's music world.
Imagine living in a world like today I never understood why my family loved this kind of music till I got older.
Good old Faron Young I was born in 1979 but been a big fan of this song since I was a kid and still love it even more now it's a real classic hit.
Love Willie. Loved the singin' Sheriff Faron Young!
My family talks about Faron all the time and go around singing his songs I'm related to him and everyone says I get my talent from him!
So much talent in these two men! I’m glad they paired and brought us their masterpiece 🥰
That's a true story.. I know it to be true firsthand... love the story and how it all came together. He always said Wille was a wonderful song writer..this is the truest of truest stories...trust me its all true...
I like all these guys. When I see Faron, it always makes me think that had things been different, Ol Hank could’ve been sitting there too.❤
Lord, I'd loved to have been there. So many of the greatest together and so many of them gone now.
FARON YOUNG STOOD UP FOR BLACK AMERICANS OPRESSION MORE STRONGLY THAN ANYONE ELSE EVER DID. HE WAS A BEAUTIFUL MAN AND HAD MORE HEART THAN ANY OTHER. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😢
Now that's country friends
I want to see this whole special. I see Faron, Willie, Waylon, and Kris all in the same room. Must have been some program!
I think that Billy Joe Shaver is ther, too. I'm not completely sure, though.
R. I. P.

Webb Pierce sat on Willies right and Waylon in the Background good to see these great shows. Many thanks

The perfect song for today !!
Can´t get any more better and simple.
"give me a chord, let's see if we can do this thing" Fantastic!
Faron's not just a good singer,he is a good story teller as well.
Too cool. Years ago I discovered Willie originally did "Crazy". Have to admit this is another classic country song by Willie that I just connected. WHAT A TALENT
Rick Raubeson willie wrote crazy
I wish we still had people like this making music today. We're blessed to still have Willie and a few others, but the crowd is growing thin. Such great stories about the people and past.
Man the talent in this room. Unbelievable.

- The things you find, when you're not looking.
Fluked onto this gem, and actually have wet eyes.
Believe me, I'm a person who stopped shedding tears in the 60's
You said a mouthful there. A quiet Bocephus seemed surreal.
When the camera caught hold of Webb, that was the topping.
That was fun! I love those guys
Faron and Brinda Lee uased to sing in Augusta Ga. when Carl Smith was a D.J. At WGAC radio in the 1950s And Penut Faircloth introduced Brinda To Red Foly, Carl and Ace Latson plyed evry Saturday on stage at the Majeska theater
I love these stories.

Priceless!!! CZcams thank you
Willie's first big royalty check which for perhaps the last time in his life was fitting of a manly French kiss.
2 of the best, a great song, and a good laugh!!
I'm so glad I found this. How can I see the entire show?

Too funny ... Awesome video
Todays singers, musicians, and writers could learn from these two.
Great to hear this.
Up there with the version Jerry Reed and Faron Young did (from the video of them fishing - on YT)
Oh Faron was a character now, my dad was the same way. He could keep a room in stiches for hours.
Country, country, when country singers could actually sing, no need for fancy voice machines !! Let's hope country comes back one day !
Its too bad most of the great ones are almost gone
It saddens me to know the best guys are gone. Like George Jones said whos gonna fill their shoes
Hello!!! How are you doing today! Please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you're a fan!....Stay safe!!
Isn't that just a great story? Brilliant!
Two GREATS!
Faron was one of the best there ever was
See ya over there Faron . Miss your music. Just wondering if you and Patsy have been entertaining people over there ? Patsy Cline and Faron Young , yeah baby.
Fantastic singers
Faron Young had a good sense of humor he'd have been a nice person to spend a lot of time with
@aj no name aj no name Not when he was drinking, which he did a lot. There are a lot of stories from reputable people and sources about how mean a drunk he was. And friendship with Charley Pride aside, he was also terribly racist too. He was well known for telling racist jokes against black folks onstage.
I'm sure you're okay with the racism, and think he was just funnin'. It's not fucking funny or okay, and you're racist if you think it is.
@@rodjohnson3045 I have no problem with NOT repeating your assertions. There is a well known comedian whose whole show was insulting people, even those in the audience including Blacks and I don't remember anyone calling him a racist because I don't think he was. So, my question is, are you Black??
JL it was a series of CD's one can buy called Country's Family Reunion at the OPRY!
❤
o hell yes. hello walls... how ya doin today. window...
Andrew Myers
Both are grea. up
Incredible. Wonder what show this was from....looks circa 1980?
Hello walls , its me again.
I think of Willie as a fantastic songwriter, but I humbly confess I have never liked his singing....... Hello Walls by Faron, is such a great country recording, but by Willie It would never have been anywhere as big a hit. I love Willie as a person, just not as a singer.......... As for Faron he is, in my humble opinion in the top three Country singers of all time. As a footnote the flip side of "Hello Walls", "Congratulations" is close to being just as good.
God, that is so good. What is that story telling get together clip from? I've seen bits and pieces of it all over CZcams and it's an incredible round table. I'd love to see it in its entirety....
I would too. It is great!
Waylon and friends, tribute to sue bruer at the boats nest
2人がしゃべり始めた時、ファロン・ヤングの後ろで笑っているのはミッキー・ニューベリーですか?
When the two began to talk, is Mickey Newbury laughing behind Faron Young?
Boy would I have loved to have been a fly in that room...
Holy crap aside from Willie & Faron I think I see a Waylon.
Is that the back of Charlie Daniels in the pink shirt? Bocephus on the couch by Waylon?
What program is this from & is there anywhere to watch in full?
Dig the old anecdotes..
On this day in 1961 {April 25th} Faron Young performed "Hello Walls" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand'...
Two weeks earlier on April 10th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #12 and spent 15 weeks on the Top 100...
And on May 8th it reached #1 {for 9 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Country Western Sides chart...
Also 1961 Ralph Emery peaked at #4 on the Country chart with an answer song, "Hello Fool"...
RIP Mr. Young {1932 - 1996} and Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}
RIP Ralph Emery...
How cool! Waylon, Kris, Webb, and a whole slew of other greats just sittin' around bullshittin'! How cool is that!
Does anyone know where you can watch this entire show? The name of the show. I’ve tried to find this fir a long time. I love spaghetti he part where Web Pierce sing There Stands The Glass too.
How are you doing today
JUST GREAT ... what show was this ...?
