Works really good!!! I have successfully swapped my lock cylinder in my 1996 vw cabrio 2.0 using this method. Big time saver

Just did the swap as per your instructions, thanks for this. It drills incredibly easily as the metal is soft. It makes things a lot easier with the steering wheel out of the way. It's held in place by a single 24mm nut. This means a normal size bit is all that's needed. Had to drill a second hole some 3mm to the right in order to access the spring, so for anyone about to do this I recommend making this small adjustment. A replacement cylinder was only $22 at Concept 1 in Calgary (they ship all over) and it comes with two keys. I have the loser that tried to steel my car for messing up the lock with a screwdriver in a half-assed attempt at getting the car started to thank for this. Took a lot longer to remove the plastic piece out of the way.

Quick question. Did you Swap the Ignition switch as well or just the cylinder lock? I am wondering if when you need to Swap the Ignition switch. Thanks
