The Gaza Strip is one of the most complicated, dense, and dangerous combat zones on earth. Fighting thousands of Hamas terrorists in close-quarter combat above ground as well as below ground in over 300 miles of tunnels, the IDF is deploying some new, unique, and very unusual weapons to wipe out Hamas while avoiding both military and civilian casualties.
A critical part of Hamas’s tactics is to make sure their own civilians are harmed. Playing the victim and generating international pressure on Israel to cease fire allows Hamas to re-arm and re-group.
Israel realized that the inevitable Gaza war would require a lot of ground troops and that traditional ground forces equipment wouldn’t cut it. They needed to give their soldiers new technology and capabilities.

We value life, but some times non-combatant civillians do get hurt or killed which we sincerely regret.
The IDF and other security organizations do there best to avoid it, but the mission has to get done.

The iron beam isn’t $5 dollars per shot. It takes a lot of electricity to power it. It is however cool as hell, they’ve been working on it for quite a while.
initial cost would be high but running cost would not be like a missile because it will be reusable
It's about 2000$ per shot, iron doom is 50k$. But these is only testing phase of the iron beam and the cost will drop drastically.
Israel water desalination cost was reduced to a 1/10 after moving to commercial production.
The most powerful version of Iron Beam is under 200kW and, from what I read, it takes it under 6 seconds to destroy a rocket/missile, i.e. under 0.0016 hours.
Now you can multiply that by 200kW and get the enormous amount of energy, that is... 0.3kWh. How much do you think that would cost where you live? Is it really more than $5? For real?

the cost of the launch system is about 100 million dollars, and has a few missiles in it and is reausable. The missiles themselves cost 40-50k$ but Israel launches to interceptors at each missile so between 80-100k$ per interception
