Thank you so much for watching!!! AND Thanks for the encouragement! 1) I got those jars at a local thrift grocery store. They are the half gallon size and come 6 to a box. They would be in the canning section of your local grocery or Mart. The box of six sells somewhere between 9.00 to 12.00. Some stores would special order them if need be. 2) I plan on another video in the future, I haven't made more because at this time I have 2 in college and one in grad.school.
Hey, I remember that refrigerator. my aunt used to have one just same as yours, it always been shooting me a bunch of ice whenever I tried to get some! thank you by the way, it was so interesting video. BJ
I tried substituting 9 regular tea bags for the 3 family sized tea bags. My tea came out tasting weak though. Then I decided to do some math: The regular sized tea bags are meant for 8 ounces of water. 8 ounces = 1 cup. This sweet tea recipie uses 12 cups of water total. So, I should have used at least 12 regular sized tea bags. But wait, there's more. I looked up the Lipton family size tea bags and according to Lipton, a single family size bag is enough to make 1 gallon of tea (128 oz of water). This sweet tea recipie uses 96 oz of water. She seems to be using enough tea bags to make 384 oz of tea. There are 2 possibilities: 1. At the time of this video, Lipton's family sized tea bags were set up for 32 oz of water and she is using the exact right amount of tea for 96 oz of water. In that case, I should use 12 regular size tea bags. 2. She's purposefully making the tea extra strong. In that case, I should use 48 regular tea bags. I'm going to start with 12 regular size tea bags and see if that tastes right. I can always work up slowly from there.

Thank you kindly ma'am, I've been looking for a real southern sweet tea recipe ever since a good southern gentleman friend of mine introduced me to it back in 2005, this looks to be right on the money :)
I put 2 qts. of water on to boil. Once it has boiled, I put two family size bags in and let them steep for 5 minutes or whenever I remember it is on the stove, then I add that to 2 more quarts of water and 1 1/2 cups sugar. Delicious.

I was an an OCD mood, & wondered how much a batch of your tea costs.
Luzianne: Iced Specially Blended Decaffeinated Tea, 514 Oz $3.54+tax=$3.81
24 Bags / 3 per batch = 8 batches.
$3.81 / 8 = $0.47625 per batch.
C&H: Pure Cane Granulated White Sugar, 5 Lb $3.58+tax=$3.85
According to the Joy of Baking website...
1 pound = 2 1/4 cups, so 5 pounds = 11 1/4 cups
$3.85 / 11.25 = $0.3422222222222222 per batch.
Water
100 (cubic feet) = 748.051948 US gallons
$1.4921 per CCF Tier 1
(Cost of CCF) / (Amount of Gallons in a CCF) = (Cost of a gallon of water)
$1.4921 / 748.051948 = $0.001994647569583
12 Cups = 0.75 gallons
(Cost of a gallon of water - 25% = (Cost of 12 cups of water)
$0.0014959856771872
SO!!
(Cost of Tea)+(Cost of Sugar)+(Cost of Water)=Cost of a pot of Sweet Tea.
$0.47625 + $0.3422222222222222 + $0.0014959856771872 = $0.8199682078994094
Now divide that by 12 (Cups of water) = 0.0683306839916174
$.82 cents for a batch of Sweet Tea
$.07 cents a cup!
WOW! That kicks Coke & Pepsi's butt..
Check my math...
Now should we go one and determine the cost of heating the water??
Me neither..

I put 2 qts. of water on to boil. Once it has boiled, I put two family size bags in and let them steep for 5 minutes or whenever I remember it is on the stove, then I add that to 2 more quarts of water and 1 1/2 cups sugar. Delicious.

The jars are 1/2 gallon size and can be found in the canning supply section of some Grocery stores or mart stores. You could probably order them from the grocery store. Another nice type of jar to use is a 1/2 gallon pickle jar. Sometimes thrift stores have large glass jars with nice lids.
I am from South Carolina! Thanks again
I found your video this weekend, and I was never so excited to make iced tea in my life! I followed your directions and this is the greatest tea ever! Amazon sells Luzianne by the case in the family sized bags for an awesome price! Thanks for posting this video - you are a natural!!
