  • Labor Day Jeep Safari and this sweet 1965 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser shows up. Original FJ40 land cruiser owner. 1965 FJ40 land cruiser takes on Wipeout Hill and Backwards Bill Trail in 106 F degree weather. The FJ40 landcruiser had a small issue with overheating after hours of pushing the little beast hard in the heat. Driving an FJ40 land cruiser of this age slowly, produces no cooling air flow through the engine bay.

My very first car was a '66 and this one brings back memories. Mine didn't have a hard top, it's interesting to see what a period correct hard top looked like.

This looks and sounds amazing. Hewas in our trail group, I suspect this roll cage was an aftermarket add on for safety?

I'm basically the second owner of my 64 that is just like yours. I've got to do a frame up restore on it to get it back up and running strong and looking good like yours. I'm looking for someone in western WA that has the same rig as ours to get together and discuss all that there is to talk about our rigs but haven't found anyone yet.

Unfortunately, I had to watch this with the volume off. Was it mentioned if the 40 had some sort of front or rear locker?

He didn’t mention if he had installed lockers

OK now you got me thinking. I need to take my '69 up to MAOB. Even being mostly stock it still 4 wheels like a beast! Mine still has a three on the tree shift but it looks like he upgraded his '65 to a floor shift and probably a 4 speed.

Don't forget to bring extra water and a tow strap.

@@crawlerutah A video from a custom shop said they were OEM but often tossed in rebuilds. Not a good plan.
