- Using Career Milestone Projections (CMP) to determine the possibilities of Alex Ovechkin acheiving the NHL Goal Record
Do you think Ovechkin can achieve this Record?
What other Milestone do you want to see using CMP?

18 goals in his last 24 games
Ovechkin easily hitting 900
what are you smoking? ...... I want it
@@memoranda1He’s 52 away with 12 games left this season and 2 more years after this on his contract. He will finish with 900+ career goals.
44 away from 895
I like the BRAH mixes in this video
I hope he does.
theres no world in which he doesnt
Do you want him to get hurt?
No Canadian Going To Let That Happen! Right! #99
Ovechkin is my goat stop hating
Yes, he can break it, the thing is nobody really cares except Ovi. Take a look at Matthew's scoring pace - he's outpacing Ovi right now, even at Ovi's best rate.
44 away from 895
42 ;)
Casual outlook here. His decline has been clear and sharp.
He could make it close but, I don't think he has four seasons left, he has two and MAYBE he'll finish his contract. Considering he's only scored 24 with 16 games left, he'll likely end up with around 30 this season, needing around 42 to tie the Great One. Next season, unless he proves himself capable of something VERY few other players in the history of the NHL have ever done, he'll finish with around 35, best case, and then father time, and the game, will have moved beyond his ability to meaningfully compete.
I project he'll need some charity to do it. Someone will have to put him in the regular line-up with the knowledge he will barely be able to meaningfully contribute to the team's success, in the vain hope he'll score a dozen. And yes, I said that right, it will be only vanity keeping him going, at that point.
The crux is, even if he doesn't make it, he'll still be closer to the Great One than anyone has ever even dreamed was possible. Which is something, in itself, considering the era he played in.
He lookin really hot as of late, with 10 goals in his last 5 games, might have just been a slow start or could just be a hot streak.
Also, I don't think the Capitals can win another cup with Ovechkin as the main guy anymore, but considering how much the franchise and fans care about the record, I think they would keep him around as long as he is somewhat productive as people are going to attend games just to experience Ovechkin possibly score the last few goals remaining to reach the record.
You do know that his lineage is world class athletics, right? Look up his Mom and Dad sometime. This guy hasn't slowed down 2 steps at 38. He has scored 50 as recently as 2 seasons ago. He is currently pounding all the yound studs into the woodwork with his hits, can still skate like the breeze, and as an added bonus shoots the puck at a horrifying speed. WITH ACCURACY. Oh yeah, He also likes to score. Just in case you hadn't noticed.
@@RodCalidge Unless you're ignoring his actual stats, he HAS slowed down. He has had fewer hits, fewer SOG, a MUCH lower +/-, lower shooting %, and unless he gets more than 2 points per game for the final four games this season, it will be the lowest PPG total of his entire career.
Look, I'm not saying he won't, I'm simply saying father time has had an effect on him and the race to outscore Gretz is tighter than some people may want to admit.
In my estimation, he'll most likely need to play the final season of his contract to do it and unless he retires half way through the season, that's just over two years from today. He'll be forty and MUCH slower than he is now, in a league which is getting younger and faster every year.
The simple reality is, time is not on his side.
he needs 49 goals in 178 games (remaining games on contract) to pass, all these videos are stupid of course hes gonna break it
If he makes it good for him, he won`t ever match the total points record. Wayne passed the puck.
Canadians & their constant bbbbuuuttt points when the topic is about goals is always hilarious! Delusional bunch really.
Im a true caps fan and I have to say Austin Matthews will surpass both.
He'll easily pass #99 over the next two seasons. Then he can retire like the warrior champion he is.
Regular season record but not all time goals but who cares. NHL is more about expansion and gambling on teams than anything else.
Bodied that fraud Gary Bettman 😵💫
Hope he beats it, then hope Auston Matthews beats Ovi.
Then McDavid beats Matthews? Then Bedard? Lol
McDavid isn't beating Ovi or Matthew's in goals! McDavid has 1 season in his entire career with 50 + goals scored & he would have to average 50+ goals for like 11 years straight to even come close
He won't, he's not built like a tank like Ovi.
Ovechkin is old he should retire
16 goals in his last 23 games 😂
your mother should retire
