- The exotic Arabian chameleon feeding on deadly Orb-Weaver Spider. As it stalks, it rocks gently, mimicking branches blowing in the breeze, making itself invisible to its prey. The tongue is twice as long as its body and tipped with a ball of muscle that can turn itself into a big suction cup. When unleashed, it accelerates as fast as a car doing zero to 100 in one-hundredth of a second. When it spots a potential meal, its wandering eyes both focus forwards for precise depth perception. Once in strike range, it can deploy its weapon. 1,2,3, attack!

For the record, orb weavers aren't deadly to anything other than bugs, so no need to be afraid of them. Also, they typically bob around like that when they sense a predator, so I'm not sure how sneaky that chameleon was.
Dude any spider that has venom is deadly including orb weaver I DON'T RECOMMEND TOUCHING ONE
@@GamerLegend.97 you couldn't be more wrong, looks like a member of genus Argiope and unless you have a specific allergy their venom is not medically significant to humans or most greater reptiles. Good luck even getting one to bite you, they are that non-defenisive.

That claim about the spider eating its own webbing is highly doubtful.
Why? Why is that such a hard thing to believe? We have orb weavers all over America and they’re all over my house during summer. I’ve been up early enough in the morning to watch them eat their webs rebuild them at the anchors at sunset.

A pretty good evolution in some ways. The beat is so catchy the spiders start bouncing to the groove and giving away their positions.

@@davidjorgensen877 Yes you're absolutely right. I just wondered how the creativity of the content creator had an brilliant idea (which was putting such groovy music at the moment when spider did such thing). And one thing, the dance movement of the spider just really matched the groovy rhythm.

True. It’s cool how at 2:23, though, that it seems like it’s “normal” speed. Maybe the distance allows it to seem less rapid or so? I don’t know, but kinda a cool little optical “illusion.”
lol the whole thing was over in 10 frames, from one frame to the next the chameleon's tongue leaves his mouth and strikes the spider, the rest is to reel it in.. very fast indeed

It's not called mocking. Orb weavers are nearly blind. It sensed a predator nearby so it did it to confuse the chameleon.

Deadly is a bit of a stretch. Maybe deadly to a lizard. But bee sting level venom to us. Orb weavers make the strongest silk that actually is incredibly soft and can be used in garment making.

Here in central florida where i live we have golden silk orb weaver aka banana spider... they are huge, their webs are gold and strong... love them... harmless

The yellow and black garden orb weaver is not the banana spider as many southerners think. The spiders that actually coined the name are Brazilian wandering spiders. Just an interesting story for ya.
