This is the best thing I’ve heard for a very long time. A long-term student of theology, metaphysics and big fan of Jung. Finally everything fuses in this historical and semantic walk through. Outstanding teaching! 😀🙌🙏❤️

Excellent with an expert presentation of esoteric alchemy. I have only looked into it a little bit but what Jeffrey said about Jung's individuation process, the transformation of the ego into the whole self nicely sums it up. The first blackening stage is even the breaking down of the separate ego it seems to me. Edit: And as Jeffrey said, alchemy is not about destroying the ego, it's about transforming it.

I was so pleased to hear you make the point that the exact origins of the art are unknown. That is a primary point I stress in my own lectures. Contrary to the arbitrary claims of mainstream scholars and armchair expert, you are 100% correct. There are similar points to be made regarding the dating of many people texts that I think are overly simplified and overlooked among historians and scholars the world over. Bravo to your willingness to take this talk in the directions you did. I think your understanding is well aligned with my own and with the truth. Thank you.

it is apt to say that the death of the ego is “never a pleasant process” (as Dr Raff puts it), and I am moved to add that it is what I imagine childbirth to be like (I am in this life a man) . in childbirth, it may be gruelling, but you are overwhelmed with joy at beholding the result . it was the same for me when I died

Brilliant lecture! It made so many necessary connections. In Sufi and Gnostic texts there are references to anima incarcerata, or the soul imprisoned in matter. Raff helps to navigate this area through Manichean imagination.

I am presenting it as Alchemy 3.0, a new living alchemy as a vehicle for unity and transformation in the current paradigm shift among the disciplines. I would love to interview you for this project and the subsequent publication of my first book on the topic of alchemy and the Hemetic traditions in the light of the ultra modern paradigm etc. I have over 30 years of experience in the field but have only recently returned to University to retire into academics and teaching.

I think the vision of Jesus must have been alchemical at least in comparison with a normal, mundane vision or understanding. He seemed to understand and see everything all at once. He was relatively omniscient (individuated in Jung's terms). At least, this seems to be the basis for his words and actions. And, his followers after his death had a similar vision, which led them in their lives. They believed that they had a direct line to God guiding them, and they preached that we all can have this spirit of Jesus.
