There is one glaring mistake at 2:55. The origins of the War of the Pacific can be a bit confusing. But here is what happened chronologically:
Bolivia increased taxes on nitrate exporting entreprises (which were virtually all Chilean and based in the Atacama region, the littoral) in 1878. Chilean entreprises (notably the Compania de Salitres y Ferrocaril de Antofagasta based in Antofagasta) refused to pay it. Chile stated that this measure was a breach of the Treaty of 1874 which included a provision stipulating that Bolivia was not to increase taxes on Chilean businesses in Bolivia for 25 years. Bolivia stated that it was an internal matter and that Chile shouldn't intervene. Basically tensions escalated and the Antofagasta company was supposed to be auctioned off on February 14th 1879. On that day Chilean troops disembarked at Antofagasta and seized it. Bolivia formally declared war on Chile on the 27th of February 1879. Between that date and the 5th of April 1879 Peru intervened diplomatically and attempted to stop the tensions. Here I have to mention the secret alliance between Peru and Bolivia which dated from 1873. Basically while discussions were going on the Chilean ambassador in Lima sent alarming notes to Santiago claiming that the Peruvians were just trying to gain time and arm themselves and that they were not genuine in their attempt at negotiation. The Peruvian diplomat was asked if such a secret treaty existed and if so to proclaim neutrality or return to Lima. Thus, Chile declared war on the 5th of April 1879 on both Bolivia and Peru.
I would recommend to go more in depth on that subject. There are still some discussions surrounding the secret treaty between Bolivia and Peru (did the Chilean government know about it or to what extent ? Chilean historians, for example Gonzalo Bulnes, usually maintain that Chile had no knowledge of this treaty until April 1879. Thus, from a Chilean perspective this seemed more like a defensive war. However, Peruvians and Bolivians perceive Chile as an aggressor and view this secret treaty as a legitimate defensive Alliance). But in order to have a fuller picture you have to also include the early border disputes between Chile and Bolivia which got amplified by the discovery of guano and nitrate deposits in the Atacama region as well as the internal political situation of all three countries. Basically it's simple but complex at the same time lol.
Also, why would Bolivia and Peru declare war on Chile suddenly? Most guano and salitre deposits were located in Atacama and Tarapaca anyway. Their internal political situations left much to be desired. As for as the armed forces are concerned things didn't look bright for Peru and Bolivia and Chile too. But I won't get into details about that here otherwise my comment will be way too long.
