Another exit strategy that I sometimes use in sparring is to finish my combination with a hook and use the momentum of the punch to pivot around and then away. Sometimes that also sets up a nice cross or round kick to the torso or head if I've pivoted out and my opponent is still moving forward. It generally works best with aggressive fighters that like to push forward or fighters that are relatively stationery.
Isn't that point 2 from gabe's vid
This is awesome, I'm definitely bringing these to the gym on my next sparring session. You describe chaotic combat situations with a level of clarity that you can usually only gain through a lot of experience, so getting them put in perspective with these videos is priceless. I'd love to see a counter-video to this, myself: Strategies for cutting off opponents as they exit or try to move away from pressure. Cheers!
broo you are giving us endless gem like videos , man i appreciate it and its all free you are the best in youtube 100% a world champion giving up endless videos , unreal
Your subscriber's problem is: his opponent watched your videos on how to perfectly counter your opponent đ
Thatâs why having options will essentially create a rock, paper, scissors situation. With enough options youâll make it difficult for your opponent to land on the exit đđœ
As an amateur K1 and Muay Thai fighter, I'm compelled to watch every video Gabriel posts, staying one step ahead of my opponents. Gabriel's content is truly fire! đ„đ
@@JamesJohnson-pz8puIâm an MMA fighter and Iâll be entering the amateurs within the next year. And youâre speaking facts, guys like Varga, bazooka Joe and Fazen are a gold mine
đ„ đ„ I needed this so much! Thank you champ! đ đ„
Awesome instruction Gabriel ! Thanks for sharing.đ
Thanks for the video! đđ
Excellent work as always, Mr. Varga. Thank you.
Great tips
I love you man ! Your videos are exceptional!
Thanks, I'm leaning so much for you
This is an fantastic video, Gabriel! This kind of info, while you make it seem simple in its presentation, is so vital to improving ones skillset and establishing that problem-solver style you do so well at breaking down.
Your explanations for layering offense and defense are so incredibly helpful for martial artists new and experienced. Thank you for making these videos - I feel like everybody training can take away something from each of them, and revisit later to continue to add layers to their game.
Can you do a video on methods for entering the clinch? I've been doing more clinch work lately but I'm having difficulty using it in sparring.
Great stuff.
Thank you so much coach, will save this video for late summer when i go back to the gym. Until then, rehab and enjoying summer đ
Have a enjoyable summer coach đđ
your channel helps me very much.
You are a very talented speaker. You don't waste any time getting your points across. Your videos are incredible helpful. Thank you very much!
This is such an underrated part of striking. Thanks for this, Gabriel
Thanks
Stellar episode
strategy 3 is something my coach has been working on with me a lot. itâs hard to break the habit of disengaging backwards or to the side and to press forward instead, takes courage in the moment!
Thank you
Could you do a video on how to improve middle/low kicking form? Specifically how to train pivoting the support foot and things like that
Nah, you deff saw my last sparring session and made a video about itđđ
Great info, as always. Could you do something on safely sparring with elbows? Or good drills with elbows to replicate the feel of sparring? Thabks
Maybe just get elbow pads
Thanks for another amazing video! How did you deal with getting sore muscles? I'm having that almost everytime and I can't imagine how I could hit the gym more often than the 3 times a week I do at the moment.
Foam roller, stretching, ice baths (occasionally)
My newest addition has been magnesium for recovery

Thanks Gabriel! What do you think of Jeff Chan's double-step low kick as an exit attack?
That XMartial drip is pretty fire đ„
Finally. This is an often ignored part of fighting.
Can you do what makes dustin poirier so good
Any chance we can get a video on not getting countered to the body? I spar with a lot of people with TKD backgrounds, they go for the body as much as they do the head.
Gabriel, did you watch glory collision this recent weekend? Donovan Wisse looked insane!!
Hey Gabriel can do a video on how to deal with opponents that just back up continuously? Like everytime you advance they just move back out of range and never really stand their ground. Thanks for the awesome content!
cut them off against the ringropes
ask ref for timitdity warning xD
Are there any strategies similar to number 3 and 4 for long range pressure fighters. So the goal would be to be at kick range post offence but not giving up ground, recommend using push kicks instead of an arm push in strategy 3?
What about exiting in Muay Thai?
How do I get in without getting hit ?
hopefully you make a video about how to make your opponent respect your strikes and make them afraid aside from using feints and fakes. thanks man
I know you asked from him,but i choose two areas to hit, like leg and his soler plexus(depending on his guard) and if i hit any of those 2 area with 100%~90% power 2-3 times, they become afraid(usually) .
Lift weights đïž. Get stronger
Can we please get a video on how to be more aggressive while sparring? I feel like I'm constantly holding back and letting my sparring partners win in fear I will hurt them lol
Unless you're relatively advanced, I find that if you're not naturally very ballsy you could possibly be avoiding segments of the fight where you could be capitalizing and scoring your shots, when you place too much of an emphasis on exit strategies. The rhetoric is also very true for fighters who are too ballsy. Sparring with different guys all who at least give you some problems with different leverages and angles would more or less make you hone your defensive instinct to work in tandem with your style if you simply have a bit of weariness of not getting countered and reflect on your style and strategy on a deep enough level.
Make A vid about Cory sandhagen
Justin Gaethje could've used this video a couple months ago fighting Charles Oliveira
Thanks
