@shadows2468 a team fortress 2 inspired evil campaign where you're mercenaries working for a lich, who wants you to destroy his lich brother's stuff would be great, the DM would have to create rivals for the party.
Eventually its revealed that there's a 3rd lich brother with an army of undead who is effectively the campaign's bbeg, forcing the party and their rivals to team up, but eventually lose, with both their employer's phylacterys being destroyed.
The party is then hired by a 4th lich, who wants them to fix her phylactery. It turns out that the bbeg is also having the same issues with his phylactery, putting the 2 in a race to acquire the resources needed to repair them.
The bbeg hires a band of old mercenaries to compete against the party, the leader of these mercenaries hijacks the bbeg's phylactery and attains lichdom, forcing the party to fight him.

I had an idea to play a Fey Bard with the criminal background, the idea was that this Fey used Fey magic to create binding contracts with people, and since Fey cannot lie, everything in the contract (at least on the Fey's end) would be true to the letter.
Since my character cannot willingly tell a lie, when seeing this, I just had the thought that Gift of Gab could be used in so many ways by my potential character to stay within the bounds of telling the truth but also be able to hide information away from people.
For example: I'm talking to a guard and they go "state your business" and I go "I have an invitation from the lord, I'm to meet him here to discuss some things." and he goes "Is that everything?" and I go "Yes, that is my business (but it is not everything) [May I go in now?]" - By replacing the Parenthesis with the Brackets I can effectively hide information while still telling the truth, as long as I'm clever in how I use it.

Remember, it's not just a "make your target think you said something different" spell, it's a "make anyone you want nearby plus everyone further than five feet away hear something different than what your target did".
You can use it to secretly shout useful information to your party without the person you're talking to knowing. You could use it to provoke a fight while the guards think you're an innocent victim. You could shout an accusation at someone that they hear as an innocuous question, leading everyone else to thinking they admitting their guilt.
You get the drift. The main benefit of the spell doesn't seem to be saying something and taking it back, but effectively being able to say two different things at once with the ability to choose which audience hears which things.

Except you have to say the sentence you're replacing what your originally said with out loud as the verbal component of the spell.
So you say "You're the killer, aren't you? (By the way, do you like beer?)"
Your target hears "By the way, do you like beer?" And answers yes.
Everyone else hears "You're the killer, aren't you? By the way do you like beer?" and their response is rendered meaningless because they heard both questions and can assume they wouldn't casually respond yes to the accusation of murder.
Rather than your target hearing one thing and everyone else hearing another, your target hears an abridged version while everyone else hears the full statement.

I think it more just extends the memory of the revised line, or maybe it feels like an auditory processing disorder symptom. Our perception of time isn't really ever consistent so that'd be a pretty easy thing to explain.

Yeah, based on his description in the video (I haven't read the actual description), I assumed the subject(s) just remember you saying the one thing and recall it being only 6 seconds instead of 12. Maybe they remember a little dead air or awkward silence in there, but nothing significant enough to warrant suspicion. Honestly, think back to even your most RECENT conversation with someone. Chances are, you don't remember exactly what they said word for word. You might recall the general intent of what they said, but unless it was something really profound or impactful, the specifics are probably lost and there's things you've probably glossed over. Hell, THEY might not remember everything they said to you. I would imagine this just creates that effect, but accelerated.

Heck, sometimes people don't even process what you've said enough to REACT within 6 seconds. I'd think if you removed the reason for their anger after such a short duration, they'd either forget the anger entirely, or see it as some sort of passing emotional flash. MAYBE upon later reflection, they might get suspicious, but I don't think they would immediately unless they literally stopped everything they were doing to analyze it. If you keep the conversation moving, I doubt they'd have the time to dwell on it enough.

The cool thing with the Suggestion idea is that you can completely gaslight the victim. They could know you used Suggestion on them, but they could think you suggested them to for example "Do the right thing.". So when they shortly after kill the king, they may in fact blame themselves and not you.
Using it with Geas could work in a similar way with a bit of luck, but would otherwise just be meaningless gaslighting for the sake of torturing or killing someone who can't figure out how to follow the command.
Zone of Truth tells you that affected creatures are aware of the spell. So that wouldn't help.
Antipathy/Sympathy already has a range of 60ft. So yeah, no use other than for example gaslighting someone into thinking that you did it by just verbally cursing them.

Geas offers more complex commands than suggestion, while letting them have free will unlike the domination spells; such as duping a sheriff into arresting every other visiting trader that comes into town for suspicion of being spies, while your group runs a black market monopoly scheme.
But depending on the ruling of how gift of gab works, they'd either forget or get distracted from the revealing effect of zone of truth, granted more dm dependent but it might be an option if discussed prior to the investment.
What story important character wouldn't have eyes ears or divination of suspicious activity outside of 30 feet? Even then it'd have other utilities such as; blockading guards with innocent bystanders while looking like mass hysteria, or make a beloved mayor seem evil for an easy overthrow, without relying on spamming mass suggestion nor worrying about any elves ignoring charms.

Repeat to continue to distort there sleep, every day, for the rest of your life. @@imUmoron Meh, takes a 5th level spell slot (granted, it can be used at the end of the day), you need to be at least 9th level to have this slot, and the target needs to fail both a wis save AND a con save to get exhaustion. If the target succeds both, they lose a point of exhaustion.
On the other hand, the stupid pact of the tome/message combo is possible starting from level 5, with a build that a pact of the tome warlock might actually go for, even without this intention (so you don't need to severely hinder your character to pull off this ridiculous combo), and only needs for the target to fail an increasingly more difficult CON save every night if the DM allows it.
Though, you could actually do both : harrass them for most of the night, then send a nightmare when you're close to the end. That way, you decrease the chance of a successful long rest (the DM would probably allow a test for the target of messages to be able to benefit from the effects of a long rest), with all the effects that stem from multiple nights in a row without a long rest.
Plus, being a warlock, you probably have a 5th level spell slot to spare at the end of the day (at the cost of a learned and a memorized spell, but that's worth it).

One of the most chilling observed examples of this was in patients who had special lobotomies to deal with epilepcy and researchers discovered that when visually separated the two hands would perform different tasks if the patient was ask to use them to perform certain tasks such as sketching or writing the answer to an open question. When asked about this the person would be confused for a moment before coming up with various and sometimes conflicting reasoning for why one hand drew a cat and the other drew a duck.

Whenever you look at the second hand of a clock, the first tick appears much slower than the rest, almost seemingly frozen for a moment. This happens because when your eyes move to focus on a new target, your brain cuts that part out and sorta fills in the gap retroactively with whatever you are now looking at.

As someone currently playing Descent into Avernus, it sounds like Gift of Gab would be great at making deals with devils

That Silence cast was one of the funniest spellcasting gags I have ever bloody well seen.

I'm not sure how Zee's scenario would play out, honestly. Because BOTH representatives would hear the second phrase and one of them would hear both. So it'd be something like
    Person 1 Hears:
"I'll never work for faction 2"
"I'll never work for faction 1"
    Person 2 Hears:
"I'll never work for faction 1"
So, either way, someone is going to hear conflicting information if you don't plan it out carefully. You can't make them BOTH hear different things, since the spell makes EVERY target hear the same thing: the verbal component.

      "SHALL YOU JOIN US, TRAVELER?"
      "I'll never join you!"
      "THEN YOU HAVE SEALED-"
      *cast*
      "Unless something drastic changes, yeah?"
      "AH, GREAT."
Outsiders hear something accurate, target hears something favorable. All about that vague phrasing.

Imagine how you could abuse this in a public setting. Say for instance you're interrogating somebody in a courtroom. You can ask a witness to confirm a false statement by asking him a flat out lie followed by a trivial true detail. The witness would have no clue what he's confirming while the jury hears him agree to your complete description of the events.

You'd need to be in a 5 feet distance though.
But that can be done by, like presenting some sort of "evidence" to the witness and asking them something about it.

Great video , could you do Summon Greater Demon or Summon Lesser Demons next ? They are really cool spells and more people should learn how to use them right !

Fun use for this spell that most don’t notice it can replace verbal components of other spells with empty silence(or other words). So if you cast a spell where you hide your hands from a target they literally have no idea that you did it.

The issue is that there is no mechanism for hiding somatic components.
