1 & 2 Samuel: The Bible Explained

- Watch our Introduction video on the books of 1 & 2 Samuel, which outlines the books' main theme and how it is fulfilled in Jesus.
The books of 1&2 Samuel narrate the beginning of Israel's monarchy with the rise and fall of King Saul and King David. The true King of Israel will humbly listen to God's word, and God's Kingdom will be established in humility, not pride. But both Saul and David fail to be this humble King and fail to build the nation God desires. It is only Jesus who humbly listens to the voice of God. It is only Jesus who establishes a nation of humility. And it is only Jesus who can cause every proud king to bow.

I never realized until now how similar Hannah's prayer (1 Samuel 2:1- 10) was to Mary's (Luke 1:46-55). That is so cool!
🙏🏾🙏🏼🙏
All hail KING JESUS!
I never understood why Jesus was called "The son of David" but today 14 october 2022 i got the previledge to watch this video and Wowww!! God is Good now am learning to be humble as the Lord Blesses the Humble
❤❤❤
✝
So much to fit into one video! Great summary to focus on Pride vs. Humility and Jesus as the perfect embodiment/fulfillment of what God had desired from the beginning for his people.
As a sinner saved by Grace.. I see myself if it wasn't wasn't for the Cross...Thank you King Jesus
In his kingdom, God raises up the humble but brings down the proud. For the humble listen to the voice of their king .but the proud refuse to bow...
These videos are so wonderful, I love the poetic and theatrical style of delivery and it really helps point every single book of the Bible back to Jesus.
This + Bible Project + Overview Bible are very helpful for Bible study.
Excellent. Thank you for getting to the root of scripture and explaining it so eloquently.
Thank you Jesus
I was reading this book today and again asked the question of why did the Israelites ask for a human king, but then I realized that I can’t think to myself that it should of been an easy answer. Now I’m not saying that the Israelites asking for a king was right, but I am saying that there was a lot of pressure and suffering which made obedience a big choice for them. They were attacked all the time and suffered under oppression and constant fear of death. Constant defeat and oppression must have made them feel like flies, and reminded them so much of their time in Egypt. Being constantly under the thumb of the people they let stay in the promised land must have made them see those nations as stronger and then they thought it could be attributed to them having human kings. There was a war inside of them, two voices: the satan saying “you will never be free, and God saying “look at what I’ve done.” To stay as they were would mean trusting completely in God’s ability to protect them from the other nations.
We could say that they should of trusted God because of what God had done in the past, but then what is our excuse for our doubts? What can we say is our excuse when we put all our trust in other things or people instead of God? If someone asked that question of us with no understanding of what we had been through it would be a logical question but also very ignorant of our struggles. The truth is that trust is not easy when things are hard but quite easy when things are good. So then what do we do? How do we trust in God’s protection when we are constantly in danger? I’m not completely sure of the answer myself, but I think that one of the answers I have gotten from this book so far is that remembrance of how hard things were in the times that God has proved his trustworthiness to us is very important. In those times when the satan is pointing at our struggles and our situations in his argument for us to distrust God we need to be able to point at God’s victories, God’s help, and God’s solutions.
this is was so beautifully and eloquently said… kudos to you for offering such a insightful perspective !! in our own ways, i believe we are very similar to Israelites- and I hope that one day I, alongside many others, can learn from their actions to start instinctively trusting God. :)
@@lovearri Thank you! I’m glad it helped because that is the reason I made that comment
Love! Love this video! I learned so much with your presentation. Thank you for your obedience to God !!❤
Beautiful reading 🔥🙏🙌🎶
Great video! Pride is a nasty spirit that destroys many lives and goes against the will of God. Only the humble will hear the voice of the Lord. Glory be to our Father in Heaven. Jesus is Kings of Kings and Lord of Lords!👑
Amazing! You guys are very good at displaying complex truths in a limited amount of words, as well as making them poems.
I hope you all visit Sight and Sound Theaters to see the Bible in real life as well!

May his hand of blessing and abundant provision be upon it as well to continue to build his kingdom here on earth. Gonna use this with my 7th grade Bible class this morning. Excellent work here--well done, good and faithful servant.

This was so good
Epic!
PRAISE GOD 🔥🕊🦁🐑❤💯🏆🙏🏼⚖
wow
Be a mother like Hannah 💕💗
Not everyone ends up being barren like Hannah. She valued being a mother driven more by constant criticisms of Pinnanah... if latter did not criticize so much, Hannah wud have led a normal and happy life with Elkanah.
❤
I think you way over did the humble and proud thing, and the dramatized voice over with music got a bit irritating, l humbly say this 🙏
😁👌🏿
Nice
This was well explained Thank you for insight.
Is that the sword Anduril?
So often people think they need to add music and a DRAMATIC voice to make people feel something. As a result, I always feel like someone's trying to manipulate my emotions. Why not just tell the story, leave most of the music out, calm the voice down, and just tell it, letting me decide if I'm going to have an emotional reaction or not?
If you have an issue with this, just watch bible project. No reason for this critique at all lol
@@miraclessaint-hilaire4941 It was actually very dramatic more like college fest program or something.
Okay loved the video. Totally needed it as I am reading these books right now. However, you don't think there is some subtle issues with casting both "bad" kings as black characters? I mean David wasn't a perfect king, but Saul and Absolam both being black feels kinda off to me tbh...
i am samuel^^
Is no one going to mention the fact that the dude in the intro was about to pick up Anduril?
Lol Saul the black evil dude, David the good white guy 😅😅😅
So, I chose this video to learn about books 1&2 Samuel. I got confused when the narrator started talking about Jesus, who doesn't come into the picture until the New Testament. I'm confused.
Hey There! You're right. Jesus doesn't show up until the New Testament. However, at Spoken Gospel we take really seriously what Jesus said to his disciple on the road to Emmaus. "And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself" (Luke 24:17).
Everything we write as Spoken Gospel tries to show our audience how the story of Jesus' death and resurrection is hinted at, foreshadowed, and prophecies in every passage of Scripture. I hope that helps. If you want to hear a little but more about the way we see the Bible, you should check out this podcast where we go on a deep dive.

samuel=jesus later one? samuel a child given by god? his only son?
Since when did they wear jeans and hypebeast cardigans
Samuel from a "Woke" perspective. Boo.
What do you see that is “woke”?
Just brilliant! ❤️🙏🏻🥲
