BlueMarbleNations why do you call britain Britannia or use Viva? I know viva is for Spain no offense but I am just curious. When did Britain use the word Britannia?
Both Germans and British made their anthems due to French song (composed to wish good health for the King Louis XVI) named "Grand dieu sauve le roi" in 1686. Then the British composed "God Save the Queen" on 1745, and 50 years later; between 1793-1795 "Heil dir im Siegerkranz" (Prussian kingdom & later the German empire's anthem) was adopted.

As an American, it's fascinating to acknowledge the lasting impact of Britain on our nation. Even though we declared independence almost 2.5 centuries ago, the British influence remains woven into the fabric of our history. From the majority of our founding fathers to nearly all our presidents having British descent, to the very names of our cities tracing back to England, it's a constant reminder that our roots are deeply connected. The 13 colonies, integral in our nation's establishment, were once part of the British Empire. It's a testament to the enduring legacy and historical ties that continue to shape both the United States and the United Kingdom. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
I met an american the other day, and despite being from the other side of the world on another continent, we had a practically shared culture, language and in all likelyhood values too. America is like Britain's cousin
@@thebritishguy4709 If you study the geopolitical and international political history of pakistan then you can understand that Britain, pakistan and united states are closest friends to each other. Long live pakistan-britain-united states friendship.
When I was in Methodist english school in palembang.Indonesia .1951. this song was compulsory sang every morning in the class room. i love and still remember this beautiful anthem eventhouh I am now already old in age.
You people act like shes the first lady in history to reach her 90s. Furthermore have some respect for the queen of British and the commonwealth. God save the queen
@@Nozylatten Umm...No...The british empire was at it's largest under the reign of Victoria who also became empress of India and loved her ''imperialistic desires''...so it was God save the Queen. XD
Once in year 1 we had to colour in love hearts that said "i love you mom" for mothers day becuase the teacher got it from an American website. I was so confused and thought it was a spelling mistake
The pain is felt across the drink - Her majesty, she answered the call during a time we needed heroes to answer the call, and she did her part. Say what you will about her now, but she did her part when she was asked, and many would not be here if it were not for her.
I will correct your idiot joke: How many countries you dominated? Answer: I don't remember. How many country you dominate now? NOW ONE, we have Pakistani and Indians in our house. Mayor of London is Pakistani, haha.

Oof 20... I was born in Scotland moved to Wales then moved to England then moved to Northern Ireland and then moved to the U.S. and I never sang this in the U.S.
Around 30 minutes ago, as of writing, Queen Elizabeth has passed. I still can't really believe it. I guess she'd been around so long I just forgot she could die too... However, we must push ourselves past this terrible event and rise from the ashes like a phoenix. God save the Queen! (And king now)
Unfortunately only 30 minutes ago upon my writing of this, the Queen officially passed away peacefully surrounded by family. An era has come to an end. I shall remember her majesty for as long as I live, thank you for your reign and I wish you well wherever you may be. God save the Queen!
It's surreal that the Queen who lived through 15 prime minister's, 7 decades of rule, WW2, saw the empire at its peak and saw it decline, somebody who has quite literally been one of the most influential and pivotal monarchs in not just British history but arguably human history has now passed on. RIP Queen Elizabeth.
How has she been "the most influential and pivotal monarchs in not just British history but arguably human history" ? British monarchs do not do politics, prime ministers do.
@@Bolloxman123 Well, Ivan, the Terrible; had asked for Queen Elizabeth I's hand in marriage, so that almost happened. Also, English/British fought in Syria many times since the Crusades themselves, so barely any scrap of land never saw a Union Jack flying about.
There is no problem with "God Save the Queen" as a mere song. However, even God won't be able to save the monarchy in the long run. Popular sovereignty defined in terms of the modern enlightened values are fundamentally irreconcilable with the continuous validation of hereditary monarchy and aristocratic hierarchy, whose very existence, even merely in the form of symbolism, makes mockery of the very notion of Equal Rights. But is it just about symbolism? It's not symbols but real money the royal parasites sucked from the purses of taxpayers. It's also not symbols but real-life materialist privileges that breed all the corruption and power-abuse, as vividly seen in Prince Andrew's scandal. Andrew is only the "exception" in the sense he was caught red-handed. In the end it's the monarchy itself that legally and institutionally provides for the perpetual enrichment and absolution of accountability with respect to a tiny coterie of the "chosen ones" - chosen not on the basis of merits or popular mandate, but exclusively their birth. As they wallow in luxury, honor and sycophancy, which they nonchalantly take for granted, the lives of the average taxpaying citizens are getting harder and harder. For how much longer could they expect the rest of the population to keep toeing the the same old line - line long verified to be incorrigibly crooked and broken, laden with injustice and hypocrisy? People are used to Queen Elizabeth II, who is, after all, personally respectable, and has been on the throne long enough to personalize an era. Once she is gone, the moment of reckoning will come sooner or later. Just you wait.
@@loyalbeaver9402 Ever since the Industrial Revolutions started it literally toppled Monarchies so fast. Even today the British Monarchy is practically a Kardashian show with dogshit most people even make fun of the Queen calling her Lizzie
Never has an anthem meant so much to a single individual. God has blessed her with a 70 year reign. God saved her and preserved her with a glorious reign and rule.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, today marks the end of an era. Rest in peace Queen Elizabeth II. Though I am not British, I will pour one out for my brothers and sisters in Britain. I do not know what song would truly be appropriate at this time, but I feel the Queen would hope the Britain she loves remains strong through this difficult time. Stay strong Britain.
The Queen Has brought a Legacy like no other. Reigning for over 70 years, and having 15 Prime ministers, wow! That's a record. We will get through this together. Stay strong. The Queen will be remembered.
@@the_rastislav The next 2 heirs to the throne are both kings. The younger one being Prince George, 9 years old. We can assume we'll have a king for the rest of our lifetimes.
The Queen is unique, she is the only English person alive who has seen England winning a trophy at football Edit: After 70 years of rule she sadly passed away, may you rest in peace Queen Elizabeth 😥😥

As an American, the first part of the song to me sounded like “ my country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty” love from the United States of MERICA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🔥🔥🔥🔥🦅🦅🦅
To think that this version of the anthem will most likely never return in our lifetimes is truly unbelievable, as Prince George, who is behind William in line to the throne, is only 9 years old. RIP our beloved Queen.
When I was attending university in London. Was on a break from classes. A few mates and just finished buying sandwiches at Pret a manger. We walked over to Trafalgar Square and headed north towards the strand.. There were loads of people miling about. Noticed immediately tons of people with earpieces dangling holding onto radios. Up ahead was a mauve or purple Rolls-Royce bearing the royal standard on top. We wondered who could it be. Within a moment, there was the familiar wide brimmed hat. Of course she had her handbag. The royal protection detail accompanied the Queen 👸 to the car amongst shouts of Mum. Stoic as always no wave or smile. Got into vehicle of to the next stop. A true representation of duty and service. I'll never forget that experience. God Bless you, Your Majesty
She passed away today. . . Even as an American I felt like I needed to honor her. She loved her family, her nation, and she will be missed. "God save the Queen."
@@jacobzebean825 I know. Yet after waiting for so long I'll let the poor guy have it, aye. He's 73 years old and the oldest Royal to be crowned King. It just doesn't sound the same. She had been Queen for so long. It feels foreign to say anything else.
I pay my respects to Her Majesty. As someone from Asia, hearing about her passing was a surprise not only to me but the whole world. Queen Elizabeth was the Icon of United Kingdom, being the longest reigning monarch in the history of Britain. God save the Queen and Britannia, and now the King.
Long she has reigned indeed, alas Her Majesty is now at peace and finally at rest. An era has, at last, come to an end. She served her country with distinction and valour. Rest now your Majesty, you have earned it
