I had both issues on my ’05, (climate control switches needed to be replaced and spoiler button not working) and just did this project. It took me about 2.5 hours. This video was very helpful and I'm very happy to have a great looking center dash. Regarding the removal of climate control switches, I didn’t understand until I struggled with it for several minutes that the tiny tabs must be broken off the switch and at the same time, the two long levers need to be pushed apart from each other, in order for the switches to be released. Use two tiny screw drivers or tweezers to separate the levers and a tiny screwdriver to break the tabs.
As far as the spoiler button, the module does not unscrew to expose the inside, unlike the climate control module, which you can unscrew. This module has one-way tabs. I was not able to pry it open, for fear of causing irreversible damage to the module, so I didn’t proceed with that part of the fix.

Hey man, did this project today in my ‘07 Boxster S and it went off without a hitch, thanks to your video, and a little help (support, really) from a friend. Thank you so much! A little thing like this makes such a big difference. Cheers!

Great video. I didn’t hear why there was a spill or corrosion in that area. At the end he said he was fixing something with the AC above. Perhaps that was the source? Also, he should quickly fix his top and the the rear quarter where it is no longer behind the black guide. That is doe to relaxation of cording inside that pulls the top inward as it closes. Easy fix!

This car was a total mess. Previous owners didn’t care much about it (engine air filter wasn’t replaced once since 2004). The cause of corrosion most likely is a coke of coffee spill, since the buttons were very sticky with a brown goo.

I didn’t see you reinstall the display take out at 9:35. Mine doesn’t work now and looks like a broken screen - no display - any special considerations when reinstalling that part?

    • @HETPEZB

Installation is a reverse of disassembling. Nothing particularly remarkable or something to be specifically noted about.

@@HETPEZB I didn’t know what purpose the little white tape piece served or where it went

Taping the display in with masking tape will save the display. Something is damaged and now it doesn’t illuminate.

Thanks for that video , i just ordered the climate control button set. Also my clamshell top only comes up on one side so through your other vid. I know roughly where to start looking. Wondering if you ever changed the cup holder lid? Mine hardly closes now.

Didn’t change the cupholder lid, but the removal is easy if that’s what you are asking. I removed the cupholders when I replaced the glove box.

I took mine in to Porsche to replace the switches. Porsche said that I would have to replace the whole unit 🙄

@@HETPEZB pretty sad really. Especially knowing that the switches are cheaply and easily replaceable. Once I receive the parts, I'm hoping to discover an easy, no fuss replacement solution.
