I was expecting a "3 months later" sign and then everyone in the platoon is talking like Chris and understanding him completely.
That's hilarious
I was expecting the last guy in the row understand him and then talk exactly like him but your idea was better.
That would of been epic , the need to source there sketches out too a CZcams channel and have them described, that we can add in our comments how we would think it should go... Someone needs to get on that one and make it serious
**3 Months Later...**
I was expecting him to tell Mark McKinney to "SIT AND WAIT, FOR PRINCIPAL MOSS, IN THE HALL!"
My brain keeps telling me this is dumb, but my heart keeps saying this is HILARIOUS!!
Your brain and your heart are both correct.
That made me laugh more than the skit
Absolutely NOTHING dumb about this. This is what comedica geniusa looks like.
I laughed nonstop!!😂
Chris Kattan is brilliant in this. He gets the tone right, he gets the body language right, and he shouted Right Face as clearly as any other drill sergeant, which is to say all you can understand is the “right.”
right fffffffffwoiehfoiqhweqwf
Kattan always with the unintelligible rants, not even close to funny
100% right, his yelling and talking is perfect, I would say the only difference is a real drill sgt. you could understand more plainly, but when i hear him yell fast and not understandable, I think... that's a drill sgt. Obviously exagerated. The Lawyer Skit in my opinion is the best because its so far fetched. This one is great but could ALMOST be realistic
Kattan was great. I had a few belly laughs in this skit. The ending was too funny😂 😂
@@stevec7770 lemme guess, you voted republican down the line this month? i'm genuinely curious. cuz i've seen a lot of righties wanderin on over into snl comment sections just to state, very plainly, that they do not find modern snl skits to be funny. no jokes, no sarcasm, just "so and so is not funny" and/or "snl is no longer funny, like it used to be"
I too have met people from Louisiana.
I remember I had a Drill Sergeant from Puerto Rico with a thick accent. This describes the situation for the first month perfectly.
Had the same thing happen in Sweden had a guy from Spain. Could barley understand a thing with the thick accent
Lmaoooo
Same happen to me in Puerto Rico with americans trying to speak spanish,,i dont understand shit !!!!
Had a fellow recruit from PR. Drill sergeant heard him ask for 'Shicken' in the mess hall. Drill Sergeant says: "You makeeng fun uv me pri-vit?"
@@problemon P.R. don't speak Spanish good either, so I guess your double fuked...lol!!
Drill instructor: "Tabada la da mabaladati, you understand!?"
Recruits: "Yes sir!" 😳🤨🙄
People don't realize but in real life basic training is one of the funniest places you will ever be. Drill Sergeant are like stand up comedians
100% after the shock of it all I had to bite my cheek to stop myself from laughing!
Can't remember how many times we got dusted off for laughing, but you can't help it. Most of the time you're either going "I can't believe that DS___ said that🤯" or "I'm not surprised DS___ said that".
You stand up, they are comedians.
100% truth. God, every day in basic, something had us dying laughing or fighting the urge to bust out laughing.
The best part of basic is towards the end when the drill sergeants pull out all the people who do the best impressions. That happened basic and AIT and it was hilarious.
I feel like it can't be easy to scream completely unintelligible nonsense with this much confidence
Takes geniuses to creat such masterpieces.
It’s 3a and I’m laughing my ass off.
I almost died when he said "rah face!" and nobody knew to turn left face or right face.
Translation:
Shine your shoes you got some dirt on the edges.
Chin up,chest out!!
What’s your name soldier?
Was I talking to you?
How did you understand this?
You are remarkable.
I don't know but I been told... eskimo pu$$y mighty cold lol
@@yakou1621 because he was in the army :)
I thought he said “What a day, soldier”.
Criss is so underrated, he has so many hilarious characters.
Have you seen his movie Corky Romano? It is really funny 😆
I love his 'Mango' character
that looks like Mark McKinney...
googling...
it IS him. lol. that makes the Gordon Lightfoot line even more delicious. :D
I grew up in New England, when I went to Quantico with the Marine Corps I had to work directly with a great guy from southern Louisiana, he was in my platoon. We couldn’t understand each other at first. This skit is scarily funny and accurate
He's a teacher,a lawyer and a Sergeant wow
i was thinking the same thing.
he obviously went to law school while earning his teaching credentials.
first a lawyer.. he did well at first, but just couldnt gain any traction. his clients were claiming they felt 'misrepresented'.
second a teacher.. well, substitute. his accent was so thick, they feared he wouldnt be able to 'get through' to the kids. he never passed his probationary period.
with his dreams crushed, he had no idea what to do next.
on his way home after being fired he thought to himself ''wumayn x'moogu-bee'' (whats my next move going to be?).
he pulled into his driveway, sat on his couch, tears crystallized on his face as more started to drip over like an icicle on a warm winter day.
he turned on the tv. blinded by his grief, thinking maybe if he flips it to his favorite show - 'southern auctions with jeremiah swain' -
just maybe it could help sponge up his sight back. however, the first thing he sees when the tube flips on is army propaganda commercials.
all he had to hear was 'BE! ALL THAT YOU CAN BE! - Army.'
as soon as he heard that, he turned the tv right back off, got back in his car and drove straight to his nearest recruitment office.
on the road, with sight as clear as a warm summer day, he thought to himself "byaukenbeeb-aybee"(be all that you can be, baby).
just like that, he was signed up and drillin new recruits before he could say... well. you get the idea.
Renaissance Man.
@@Capcoor
Bicentennial man.
He's in everyday positions he shouldn't be.
Director, talk show host, basketball coach too. There’s a handful of sketches on the nbc website
I actually started to understand him more after watching this a couple of times.
Same 😂
Yes! he said give me 10 sit-ups right now!
@@mirellalastar umshshehh...i said...usmsh..10 usghgmis...moeee
I swear that Drill Sargent is channelling Donald Duck.
Reminds me of my basic training with Drill Sergeants yelling in my face at 3 AM. Great memories
Me too! Good times & one of mine was 5”2 and hit me in the face with his hat brim.. while screaming 😆
No joke, I had a drill sergeant who would tell us to get up and he would get down and vice versa. Reminds me of this guy 😂
If they ever sell the cue cards for this sketch with Kattan's lines, I might sell my house.
This was actually a good SNL skit. They're hit or miss most times.
Suel Forrester should be back on SNL once again. He is funny.
I remember hearing drill instructors at Parris Island shouting at the top of their lungs and thinking, "What the f did he just say?"
"Eskimo kitty with a mighty cold". Close enough.
I studied English in NYC during 6 months for an intensive class living with an American family in Long Island, it was very good enjoying the Big Apple in 1997, until I got a contract to work in South Louisiana in 1999, when I got there I had to take again English classes with a local school teacher, and believe me, every cent I paid her worth it, I could understand most of my colleagues talking like this Drill Sargeant, and most of them chewing tobacco while talking.
Cheers from Lima Perú.
I'm from Texas, English is my native language but I needed to take English lessons when I moved to Manchester, England. Lol
Dont know why this skit isnt listed as one of the funniest ever on SNL
mychal4895 its a shame
BECAUSE IT IS SHIT
This was great, I have been researching "best stuttering treatment" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Rincaas Stammify Blocker - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my m8 got cool results with it.
Did we watch the same clip? He’s not funny. And the premise is recycled trash.
@@markb4101 Letting other people have their opinion is bullshit, you're right. That's the problem with this world. We should be able to tell people their opinions because their all stupid, and we know best. You should like what i like, because i know what's good, and what's shit.
That one guy who kept crying had me on the floor wheezing 😂😂
One in every group.
Just realized he was saying "Keep your feet at a 45°angle to the 'gordon lightfoot' guy" and this is accurate.
And I think before that part, the drill sergeant was asking where the other guy is from.
This character is movie worthy. I want more
Nooo, you don`t!..........remember "night @the Roxbury.
The Drill sergeant is based on the drill sergeant from full metal jacket
I actually worked with someone like this once in South Carolina. Couldn’t understand a thing the guy said, but I remember doing a lot of head bobbing as though I understood what the hell he was saying. I laughed when he did and looked angry when he did. It was a good exercise in following ones lead.
When in doubt- SIR, YES SIR! 💯😆
Man, when he tells them right face and they all do something different. ☠️🤣
Glad to see Private Ferrell eventually made Drill Sergeant
Closer to accurate than most people probably realize
Agreed!
totally agree
has to be the funniest drill Sargeant of all time😅
jestione nah not close... Watch full metal jacket
That's Riiiiiiiiiiight!!
😂
Listen to the babble, just say YES SIR! to everything? Sounds like the army.
Sir? Imma wonka forty women!
I was in the service and I admit if I had a drill sergeant like this I would cry cause I couldn't understand him lol.
This one of the funniest ever
expressions and tonality and body language....he was genius
This series of Kattan skits were kind of like precursors to the Key & Peele skits years later with Key playing the angry substitute teacher that expects his students to answer to wildly mispronounced versions of their names. When they try to correct him he goes ballistic.
Key was on Mad TV & had the character Coach Hines! You gotta check it out if you haven't seen it, it's here on YT! It still cracks me up! Love the recognition they've both gotten they're crazy talented!
J Qualin!!!
HEY HABBA DO HEEE HODO WHA HOY DOO HA!
s.. s.. SIR YES SIR!
DA WHAAAAAAA!!
**enters a sweaty panic**
jmsta2011 GIMME YA WHOO CAH!
Whats is this means?wich language is thus?
this is the best sketch! I laughed so hard!
THAT'S RIGHT !
@RonnyDonny13 so is the air traffic controller!
This is exactly how confusing the first day of basic is.
Suel and Cheri Oteri's character need to appear in court. They deserve some Maine Justice.
Simma down now, ya hear!
I just want to mention that at 00:01 they added the godamn Command & Conquer: Hellmarch song's sound. "DIE WAFFEN, LEIBT ANN!" as in "Your weapons, take aim!"
"legt an"
OMG!!!! U r right!!!! I just noticed it now!!!
"Eskimo kitty with a mighty cold". Close enough.
Don maaer waa he saeed, jus foow du oduuurs!
Sir! Yes, sir!

I love it when Chris does this skit
The Christopher Lowell one is funny
‘YOU CAN CALL ME DARGE-A!’ 🪖🤣
😂😂
Drill Sgt sounds like he's one of those alligator hunters from Swamp People
I feel strongly that he looks like Brad Pitt, full stop.
And I always said that I could not be in the army, because all of that shouting will cause me to crack up laughing forever!! I’m so serious!! 😭🤣😂
i never laughed this much im crying! hahaha
holy crap! laughing so hard my eyes watered!!
Call a drill sergeant Sir 😂
I ALWAYS feel the same way when I work SO HARD in college to understand Algebra II! LLLLLLLLOL!
I can't believe the other cast members didn't break...I was dying over here
I would’ve love to see Bill Hater in that lineup!
He would break for sure.
I got tears rolling down.
I m laughing my freakin ass off and rolling on the floor... Funniest skit everrrrrrrrr.... 😅😄😂😅😄😂
That weird period where Mark McKinney was on SNL 🤘🏼
LOL! The opening is from the movie Heartbreak Ridge.
Chris Kattan........natural comedic genious
This might be the single greatest thing I’ve seen.
Kattan was the most underrated SNL cast member in history.
He was one of them.
TE THA SHAW
He broke character before roll call, I thought they were gonna call him out on it. Lol
🤣 Pure gold!
My favorite SNL character ever!!! Only CK could pull this off. ❤️❤️❤️
This is actually the most accurate depiction of military service 👍👍🤣
He started crying 😂😂😂😂😂😂
that was actually funny. i never knew it was like this.
A Marine Drill Sergeant for a bunch of ARMY recruits. Too funny.
i had chemistry teacher talking like that because he was talking soooooo fast and i was not able to understand any word.
...and then the lab exploded.
"High butt hole but hive been hold, eskimo hussies mighty bold."
-Me and my horrible audio processing, the first 13 weeks at Benning
What a great character!
I laughed so hard that I cried 🤣🤧🤣
Marching up and down the square!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!! That funny as heck. Had me laughing from the get go.
Just masterful.
I didn't care for the lawyer or teacher, but this character is MADE to be a drill sergeant.
DS Suel produced the finest warriors this country has ever seen.
Full Metal Jacket 2: "You wib no kryay! You wib nah layahah! You wi lahn by de numah, ahh wi tayych ya!"
2:04 "You sound like a fly paper in a man's hat" lol
Lived in Alabama for some years. I can understand most of what he says. Then the yankee kicks in and I’m lost.
I went to Basic Training and Military Police School in Anniston decades ago!
Ft. McClellan!
My Papaw was stationed there from 1958-1959.
Got many stories from that base.
This is sooo good, when you’re literally learning how angels talk 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🍊🍊🍊🤣🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
CK is the best. I can't not laugh at anything he does.
I had seen a different sketch yesterday also named Suel Forrester but in which he is the an southern lawyer(episode of 98)..
There’s several Suel Forrester sketches. He was also a teacher and a game show host.
Kattan was a hoot. He's so little. I also liked when he did Mango!
Im watching this for the billion time drinking wine wasted this one is just best😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hey, it’s the Southern Lawyer!
When you think about it, if the stereotypical role of a Drill Sargeant is to break down recruits, Suel is a perfect fit, lol.
I mean, I would love to see the cue cards on this one.
That character is funny in any context
Chris Kattan is so underrated
realistic sometimes when you`re tired under thhe sun and some DS is shouting his soul at you
This is making me remember the Filipino company commanders in the Navy
In basic training we learned that Sir is addressed to officers only. Sergeants were addressed as “yes” or “no” drill sergeant.
Is that fourth from the left , young comedian Jim Bruer😂?!!!
this is me in bootcamp. didn't understand shit!!
H
This is amazing lol, one of Chris Kattan's best
This is the funniest guy ever I can’t stop laughing
Somewhat extremely hilarious
