Dude, I'm glad I watched your video...I'm in the middle of installing the CAI on my 2019 Camaro 2SS, and stopped and figured I'd wait until tomorrow when it heats up outside to try to finish the install, as I couldn't get the elbow tube to fit snug over the two connection points. I never would have guessed it was a "design feature" to not line up straight. I was afraid I was going to rip the filter box apart trying to get it straight...now I know to let it sit at the "designed" angle. CAI should state that directly in the installation instructions!

i just installed mine!!!! thanks so much for your vid...it helped me a lot. took me about an hour with a breaking back lol. i noticed that after installing and turning the engine on.. the radiator fan was blowing like crazy. then restarted the car, it stopped. had me scared for life!
i dont know if its normal or if its that whistling sound but when I shift it makes "air sucking" sound... which i kinda like! anyways thanks.

Great job. The more detail the better. Wonderful idea about testing both intakes at the same time with the same conditions. It will be very interesting to see the test results.

2 questions.
1.) did you have to disconnect the battery when you did the install? CAI instructions state to do so. Just curious
2.) when your driving around, do you notice any high pitch hum from your CAI? I can hear the initial sucking noise when I step on the gas, but shortly after around 3-5RPM I tend to hear a high pitch hum/screech sound. Just curious if you do to.

+Edgar O that is not the CAI, but the pressure around the Throttle Body. I have a ported TB and those noises can't be heard inside the car. The car 8n it's stock form makes these noises as well, but the stock air box muffles the noise pretty good.

Great video. My dealership stated that GM now has a part# for intake. Eta is about 30 days. Dealership with also include 1 tune with install of GM intake. Also pulled fused for NPP exhaust. Car sounds great in all modes of driving. Thank you very much. Looking forward to more videos.

Hey Lethal. Great vid, as usual. I have looked at several videos on installing CAI's, and some have lids and some don't. Any thoughts on pros/cons on using a lid? Thx
Some have lids as they need it to seal with the lid, most others seal with the hood and confirm with the contours of the car.

+mrxmikeyy you can hear when you get on the gas, I would say I now hear a slightly more baritone sound on the interior. It's not a huge change, but enough to notice it.

Just bought my new 17 SS last week. Any good/bad experiences with certain cai's. Looking to buy one in next few weeks.

Looking coward to your dyno comp video. There's a thread on camaro6 forums showing that a CAI intake without a tune will make the engine run lean at high rpm because the computer thinks there's a problem with the new MAF readings, that could actually lead to a loss of power of even detonation, your thoughts?

+Nick Nick it's a matter of finding out how much and if it is changing things to reasonable level. There is not 'telling' anyone about this, it is what happens.
+Nick Nick I stand behind everything I have said. But I have no idea what you're talking about. In all cases to get the most from your CAI is to get a tune. Word is GM will offer a tune with their CAI which is why I haven't fully endorsed what these system do.

Im sure Matt will post AFR in his dyno test release. I can tell you first hand that the Roto-fab CAI has been varified by multiple tuners to produce a great AFR@WOT.
Hows the cold air intake working? Any issues? Hows the throttle response? Still waiting on GM to release the intake.
Quick question...the first step of the install manual says to disconnect the negative battery terminal. What's the reason for that, assuming you don't try to start the car before the install is complete?
I have a 2017 Camaro 1SS and want to put a K&N CAI on it but not sure if I need to tune it afterwards? Should I tune?? Thanks!
Does this intake amplify the 4cyc sound when in that mode is is there enough load that it just switches to 8 avoiding that sound? With any luck I'll be a 2ss owner by lunch time tomorrow.

I changes the way the car sounds a bit and overall I feel a bit more low end power in 4k+ rpm range.

Why is this air box open? I want one like the elite carbon, dont want to pull hot air in from my engine bay which an open box does.

@@Lethalgarage For what reasons? Wanted to order the cold air inductions, it's the only "legal" one for me to use on my zl1. I need to get rid of the stock air box, not enough air flow at 830hp.
I had a question about your Camaro, when you start your car in the morning a cold start, does your starter have an extended crank noise before the engine starts? Because mine does that and I actually went to GM and they said that its normal compared to other camaros so I don't know if they are saying bs or not.

its normal... i wish it would make that sound every time i turn on the engine cuz the sound is brutal. love it!
what camera do you use to film your videos, did you use a gopro to do the exhaust sound towards the end of the video?

You can put a dry filter.

I got the max energy programer tuner for my car so I can mess with that without getting a permanent tune that will void my warranty
All manufacturers can verify when the vehicle was last tuned. When they see that the vehicle was last tuned yesterday but their records indicate chevy did it on a different date that's where trouble can start. Tunes are a slippery slope.
I have the 2.0L turbo charged camaro, if I get the right cold air intake for it the installation process should be relatively similar to this right?

Well yeah but from only visual inspection the only main difference that I've noticed is that the tube that connects the cold air intake to the engine is connected to the side of the engine rather than the front. I'll do my homework before doing anything

+Brandon Zingarelli Considering GM is offering a re-branded CAI for the 2016 Camaro SS, I am going to say no, it will not void your warranty to bolt on a CAI. Now if you make modifications to the ECU with a tune, that will void your warranty. Unless.... it is GM offering the tune.

No, this is V8 only.
Would it be possible to add a cold air intake into the V6 models (even if it is a different process to the one described in your video)? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I am currently looking at a really nicely priced 2016 Camaro (1LT with the RS package), and I am fairly new to car modding.
