Does anyone think wonder woman 1984 should open with this song? I do. That would be great.

9 months late but it's not a bad movie. It's got a looooot of problems but it's still fun, funny, and engaging, and it's easily the best DC film.

The special effects when WW fights is really hit-or-miss. There's way too much slow motion and it just lacks what Batman's fight at the end of BvS against all those mercenaries did. Gal Godot's acting is also kinda spotty. She's fine when she's acting really happy or opposite of Chris Pine, but during really dramatic sequences she just falls flat.
The villain is also... okay, but the way they're defeated is kinda silly and they do one of those "if you kill this one bad person then you're a monster" or some shit even though previously Diana had no problem slaughtering German soldiers who were probably nowhere near as bad as a nut job who was making poison gas.

The killing the German in the middle of a Peace Gala was what Steve Trevor tried to prevent. The defeat of Ares was great, she basically use Ares power back to him tenfold. She truly became a goddess when she mastered godly power. Gadot acting is not gonna get any Academy Award but it carry the movie. The slow motion is a director choice. I think it work here. Same way it work in 300 and Watchmen.

Shaky cam is also a director's choice, and using it a lot is also a director's choice. It's a director choosing to do something stupid and unnecessary. I read somewhere that all the slow-mo in 300 pads out the movie considerably, and it looks nice at first but after a point, you see one slow-mo shot, you've seen them all.
Seriously, just going "it's a director's choice" to justify anything is lazy. That it was that one 50 year old director's choice to play the part of Pinocchio himself in an Italian adaptation; it's fucking stupid and the stuff of nightmares. The slow-mo in WW's not the stuff of nightmares, but I'll take the intense choreography of Batman's fight in BvS, or hell, even the non-slow-mo footage in WW over it any day of the week.
And the problem with Diana turning Ares's power back on him is just... how does that work? Why do her bracelets work that way? They just do and that's okay but like, is the power HER or are the bracelets enchanted like the lasso? And Diana talks about saving humanity with "love" and how that was the key to defeating Ares when it was the other way around. It was Steve stopping Maru's plot that involved his love for Diana and the world making him put them before himself.
Personally I would've gone the whole way with "well people aren't perfect and some situations are just big glorious clusterfucks that get people dead" theme. Don't involve Ares at all. Keep Maru and Ludendorff so you can keep the idea that problems can't just be solved by finding a supervillain and killing them. Have Wonder Woman realize there's more to saving humanity than just that but by being a good person that encourages others to do good too (which her best scenes were). Keep Trevor's sacrifice because it was a great scene. Actually have some sort of payoff to Charlie's war trauma and taking steps to overcome it.
Then afterwards have it be that in the DCEU, Ares went on to become Darkseid. I know it's a weird idea but holy fuck the DC pantheon system is a massive trainwreck (and that's BEFORE bringing in the GEB and the Presence) and the easiest thing to do is make good on Jack Kirby's iconic opening lines: "there came a time when the Old Gods died." Go into further detail for that with Shazam and Aquaman and whatever else is necessary.
