  • After a long hiatus, here's another Newscene (first the preview, followed by the complete edition edited together into one video here) on WFLD Channel 32 featuring longtime favorite of the Fuzzy community, Kathy McFarland.
    Includes:

End of Eight O'Clock Movie, with voiceover (by Jim Barton) previewing next night's movie, "Mister Roberts" and next Newscene followed by M*A*S*H

    - Preview of weather forecast, with news of 92 degree high at O'Hare

About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The MCCTv (FuzzyMemoriesTV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s to early 80s, mostly) recorded off of TV (in Chicago or other cities now too); things which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. I remember Katie used to watch her all the time. TV in Chicago was special.

A whole lotta great back-in-the-day Chicagoland nostalgia here, and the mention of the Houston Astros is particularly eerie, as we unfortunately moved to Houston just two months after this aired when my father's employer moved there. I just wanna go back, shop at Dominick's and watch "Benny Hill" and Cubs games on TV.

Pat Summerall played for the old Chicago Cardinals. 3:50 is Shelley Long of Cheers fame.

RIP Ms. McFarland. She was just as much a part of my Chicago childhood as Bozo, Ray Rayner, Fahey Flynn, Richard Pegue, Naurice Roberts or Bill Kurtis & Walter Jacobsen was.

She left Channel 32 around the time Metromedia took over the station in early 1983. Metromedia attempted to buy the station in 1970 but the bid was ultimately rejected .
