If you listen to enough of the Doors music you will realize that the keyboard player was a genius at his craft.
I call Ray Manzarek 'The Mad Scientist'. đ
They all were, not rated highly enough during their time. They are one of THE BANDS of that 65-71 time.
Nah for real he plays the melody and the baseline simultaneously itâs crazy
Ray Manzarek
Love Ray Manzarek genius
The Doors were never underrated. We were all listening.!!!
The fact the doors are listened to an respected by audiences across generations shows how good they -were- are
Timeless classic. The Doors were on another plane of existence đ.
Perfectly put,,,,đđ
THAT gentlemen is the S$$T
Literally lol
They certainly we're...When I've smoked to much heavy shit or taken too much LSD, only the Doors can ground me....them and Ash vs the evil dead....
Lmao perfect description đ
The Master of keyboards Mr. Ray Manzarek đ¶â„ïž
This is possibly one of the greatest songs ever written.
Roadhouse Blues is a must
Mr. moJo risin -----> Rearrange the letters, it spells Jim Morrison. Brilliant.
He was one talented guy
I only learned that a few years ago after decades of listening to this song.
This originated from a piece of junk-mail that Jim received on which his name was misspelled after which he adopted it.
Always knew this but seems very contrived superficial and conceited. Why would anyone use an anagrsm of their own name on a song other than vanity? Otherwise my favorite doors song.
@@leonh.kalayjian6556 Perhaps if you knew the songs meaning it wouldn't seem so superficial.
This song is a metaphor. They are describing LA, as if the city is a Woman. Love â€ïž
there's no metaphor, it's straight clear
It is and isn't. It's double entendre. He's speaking literally and metaphorically both about Pam and LA.
@@El_Hicks agree.... morrison does that poetically in several of his songs. he takes something literal & then scales it up to another metaphor that still connects to the first but scales out the idea to include the broader culture. he did it also in the end. symbolist poetry written in epic verse. blake and yeats influenced.
That's exactly what the song is about .. "Driving down your freeways" .. The love of and for L.A. "The hills are filled with fire .." is about the seasonal fires.
It could also be referring to girlfriend Pamela who was a redhead.
If you have this on while driving, watch your speed!
Can't argue with this. LA Woman is an amazing driving record. Listen to it while driving and an hour drive will feel like 10 minutes. I speak from experience. Sober experience while in High School.
Truth! Have a couple speeding tickets I can attribute to cranking up LA Woman while driving.
When I have this on I'm never driving, don't smoke and drive
Be careful you'll miss your exit
The fact the doors are listened to an respected by audiences across generations shows how good they -were- are
Driving to this song! I visited L.A. for the first time around 1985, I to visit my cousin who lived there for awhile. We were in our mid twenties. We blasted this song as we drove from LAX into the city. It sounds cheesy, but it was really a perfect way to see LA for the first time.
How great it is for you guys to enjoy all this great music from years ago. I was lucky enough to experience all of the different groups and their songs as they came out. Hope you enjoy the ride because I sure did and still do!
Me too!!! Loving watching everyone hear these from our days!!!đđ¶đŒđ”đ€
Me too !
Me too
Same here!
âThe Endâ is a mind trip you need to hear. Song is like few others đ§
Defintely! Awesome song.
@LadyLiberty maybe you should hold their hand and tell them everything will be ok đ€Ł
They have done The End already đ
The Doors. A jazz band that played psychedelic rock.
This came out in 70. They are definitely one of the best bands of all time. Listen to all music, including the Beatles before 1966, then listen to them after the doors debut album came out. The doors changed music. The Beatles were on record saying the doors debut album was an influence.
Light My Fire" is a song by the American rock band the Doors. It was recorded in August 1966 and released in January 1967 on their eponymous debut album.
en.m.wikipedia.org âș wiki
Light My Fire - Wikipedia
1971
Doors drummer John Densmore said in the The Story of L.A. Woman documentary: "The metaphor for the city as a woman is brilliant: cops in cars, never saw a woman so alone - great stuff. It's metaphoric, the physicality of the town and thinking of her and how we need to take care of her, it's my hometown.
Obviously you don't know what this song is about. Jim planned on faking his death and leaving his girlfriend behind and the entire album tells the story. In this song he's comparing Pam to LA. Would she be a lucky little lady in the city of light, Paris, or another lost angel city of night, LA? He answers that in a rhetorical question beforehand "Where are all the girls in their Hollywood bungalows?'" "I see your hair is burning" she had red hair, "Hills are filled with fire" the high points are brilliant, I'll let you finish the verse. The music video is centered around the movie Vanishing Point which was released at the exact same time that Jim moved, the Mustang that he drove in the video also vanished then. The album was recorded in secret and released after Jim moved, so when the words "Just got into town about an hour ago" were first heard he was already gone, he traveled faster than the speed of sound, now listen to the song before it, one of the cars created a sonic boom.
Sometimes a thought not written is best. Think before you write, think again and then don't write.
@@jackasswhiskyandpintobeans9344 The quote came from the drummer of the doors. It didn't come from me. Take your own advice, " Sometimes a thought not written is best. Think before you write, think again and then don't write."
the lyrics are deeper then many know.... never saw a woman so alone is a KILLER line if you think about its psychological meaning in re to the collective culture. LA the city of vanity & dreams. the mecca of narcissism. the infotainment empire of the West. its images shape the norms of a lot of our culture.... that is what morrison is digging into here. our culture has an endless appetite for voyeurism. TV is that window & LA is the factors of that production. its an empty pit that cant be filled, but people are drawn like moths to the flame regardless... that is what that line points to. & if you think about it & LA's power of our entire culture, morrison nailed then & more importantly what was coming now. people hooked to narcissism. Alone inside, playing shadow theater to fake it.
@@theincorruptedeye8226 where then was his stage left?
Just sitting here listening with a big smile on my face flying back to 1971 when I was 20 years old.
- Its fun to see the children hear this for the first time. The Doors had it going on.
did you get to see them live?
@@kelvinkloud No. I was in the military but we would gather in each others' rooms and listen and, how should I put this, alter our minds in connection with the music. We had those powers back then. I think we did. Not so sure anymore.
@@kenschaefer7625 I heard the doors were heavily listened to by the soldiers of that era. That is a credit to the band it seems. The doors at their best had a visceral grab your guts punch to their sound. Morrison was a military brat so maybe some of that seeped into the creation process.... thx for your. Service.
@@kelvinkloud Yes, you are correct. Besides Doors I listened to Yes, Grand Funk, The Who. I am so glad young people today see the greatness that we did in those bands. One thing I always keep in mind is unlike young people of today, when we heard these bands they really blew us away as we never heard anything like them and we did not know what would come after. It's like studying history. I can read about the Middle Ages but if I could actually go back and live it it would blow my mind.
This is such an iconic Doors song. "THE END" is another. LA Woman is the city of Los Angeles. Classic.
Jim Morrison was the visionary. Lyricist. Lead Singer. Performer. Rebel against the Establishment of society. Shaman. Ray Mazerick. Keyboard player. Music arranger. The Doors are among the gods of Rock n' Roll. Always speaking against the things in societies or Western civilizations. So, drugs. Sex. Rock music was the way the Doors fought against western society. Great legendary group. Very psychedelic!!!!
"Visionary"??? LOL!
Waiting for the Sun, The Soft Parade, Roadhouse Blues, etc. Get to choppin'.
The Doors were the best Hard Rock group in the Psychedelic era. 50 years later they are still the best group.
The DOORS would never be considered âunderratedâ to a kid growing up in LA, in the 60s and 70s. Some of my best memories of summer will always remind me of the Doors. đ„°
Yep same here, born and raised, 60's and 70's as a kid; greatest place and time to grow up. Now? Well....
I grew up in LA in the 90s and 2000s and some of my best memories had the doors in the background as well
Another "LA" tune for you might be Arlo Guthries' "Coming into Los Angeles" performed at Woodstock '69.
Freakin' love me some Arlo!!
One of the best songs ever, and probably the best driving song, when this comes on, next thing you know your topping 100 mph without breaking a sweat.
- the band Ten Years After also had a great driving song back when the I-states were empty at night and no cops. You'll never get that back.
I still love this music. Those were truly the good old days.
We had the BEST time fellas.
I was 17 when this was released, and we partied, boy did we party!
Try 'Roadhouse Blues' next.
I was 22 in 1967, love the Doors, and Jim Morrison, sexy as hell. I dated a University of Miami student summer of 67, 68 and a little in 69. He was from Westport Ct, where I was an au pair from Denmark. He went to the famous Miami Doors concert and were a witness at Morrisons trial, (according to the transcripts from the trial, he was on Morrison's side) he was a cinamatographer and took pictures from the concert and also did a photo shoot for one of their albums.
@@hannejeppesen1809 Iâm jealous.
I still listen to this when I'm driving along Mulholland Drive (a twisting, turning urban mountain road) on my way from the valley to Beverly Hills. Little sister and I saw The Doors at Cal State East LA in 1967. I was 16 years old and she was 12! What a great day that was!
Try The end or When the music's over. Masterpieces
You guys should react to "The End" or "When the Music is Over"..
I am currently in Vegas, it was such a gorgeous flight from Nashville to Sin City. About half way across the desert stretch of New Mexico and eastern Arizona, before the Grand Canyon from 38,000 feet filled my window, this song and Riders on the Storm played back-to-back and it took me into into a trance as I watched the desert landscape flow off into oblivion. The Doors isn't just great driving music. Flying will transport you far away, as well...
one of my favourite tracks, LA women is my favourite album not a bad track on it, great reaction
The Doors were not copy cats ,they had their own style and wrote most of their songs. WAITING FOR THE SUN album, that has some wild songs on it ...
Yeah, some real wild ones, like 'Not to Touch the Earth' - that song is thunderous! and like a wild Dream...
They copied a fair amount of licks. Ray & Robbie have said as much.
@@Coowallsky Yea sure they did some copying like all of the others did but they did not have to copy other bands in order to fit in after The British Invasion hit the US. .It is a basic generalization on The Doors unique style .
So bluesy, so sexy, so wild, much like Jim Morrison. LA Woman turns 50 on April 19, 2021. Jim died July 3, 1971... less than three months after this album was released. đ There is no live version of this song.
I'll watch any Doors reactions you make. đ that was fun
This song was definitely on my mixtape in my Camaro ! Quintessential driving song !!! âđđ»đđ·đ¶
âThey are preparing us for somethingâ đđ„đ„đ„
ARGENT "HOLD YOUR HEAD UP"...A ROCK CLASSIC..TRUTH!!!
The magic of Morrison ... Truly an historic masterpiece. đđ Great reaction!! đđ
You take a poet and put him with a bluesy jazz band with a touch of rock, you get the Doors. The band were masters of their instruments. Morrison had an iconic look and voice. The crazy thing is that the band was only around for a few years and 50 years plus later it still holds up. Riders on the storm, hello I love you, touch me, Roadhouse blues are just a handful of classic songs.
Great reaction. IMPOSSIBLE to not move your body to this song.
Oh, this is fabulous - what a fantastic rocking song! I love it - you can't stop moving to it!! The Doors are great, they had so many fab songs. A superb band and I certainly remember them from the 60s and later. Wonderful. I loved watching you react to this song, guys, because you were enjoying it so much, as I was! It's been a while since I listened to this song so it's great to hear it again with you. And yes, I would love to have this in the car! I downloaded the song The End years ago and yes, I think you should react to it when you can - it's a real Doors song if you know what I mean!
Back Door Man, Roadhouse Blues & this are my favorites, keep going & see the movie! đ€
The Doors, ACDC, Zeplinn, Floyd, Bowie, Queen, Beatles....never again will we see this greatness.
The Doors are such a great band. This is definitely one of my favorites of their songs. Another is When the Music's Over.
âMr Mojo Risingâ uses every letter to Jim Morrisonâs name.
My favorite song ever!!!! It describes L.A. to the T!!!!!
It's cool to see someone experience my all time favorite band for the the first time. You guys really seemed to appreciate the journey. The Doors are a truly unique band. đ€©đđ
That song is like a magic carpet ride! Love the Doors. Morrison was the perfect frontman for them. The Doors were definitely on another level.
Spot on. The greatest rock n roll band ever. 1967 to 1971.
5 years of talent, 6 stunning albums and I read that on Jim's Death Jac Holzman, president of Elektra records left the Billboard advert on the highway for LA Woman album up for over a year as a tribute. Interestingly the billboard ad for LA Woman faced onwards towards LA, whilst the first ads for the debut album faced outward
LA Woman is, like the debut a virtually perfect album
An amazing band, every one a genius!
Possibly one of the greatest songs ever written.
Dudes...Do it again, Steely Dan. From the " Cant buy a thrill " album!
Start in downtown LA and drive on Sunset Blvd all the way to the ocean. Play this album on repeat = Perfect Day in LA
The smoothness of the drums 1:27 still blows my mind every time
King Crimson, Court of the Crimson king!! Mind blown!
Riders on the Storm!!!!!
Anything Doors is great my favorite is Crystal Ship.
There's endless energy in this song, one of the greatest ever written.
The last and best Doors album. And the only Doors album with a bass player. Awesome reaction. Bad news is when you come to LA you won't be traveling fast like this song, you'll be stuck in slooooooooow traffic. Go for a cruise on Mulholland Dr. You can go faster on the back roads.
All of The Doors albums had a bass player.
You need to look up all their albums and see there was different bass players playing even one that played for Elvis,
Your reactions are so wonderfully joyful, there make feel so very happy. Thank you bros đŻđŻđŻđŻ
When I was in high school I named my little brown dog MOJO, I was obsessed with Mr Mojo RISIN đ¶
I loved Riders of The Storm driving to the beach in the rain.
All their songs are great.Really enjoy your both reactions on all kind of music!
My man on the right is feeeelin itđ€Ł
Love it..
Favorite band and singer ever
This song is HUMMIN - I always say of it.. it is just MOVIN....All their stuff is so incredible. I cherish The Doors!
Yes! At last! This is the ultimate driving song! Hahaha! Top down, wind blowing past your face.... nothing like it! You guys enjoyed the HELL out of that didnât you?? Roadhouse Blues is NEXT!
They were famous in their time. Of course their music will go on forever. đ¶đč
That's why you have to keep listening to these guys. There are so many layers. MASTERS
Great reaction guys. The Doors ( and Jim Morrison ) are definitely special. For a real head trip check out their work of art " The End ". Studio version!
The Two of You should re-name as "TWO WILD AND CRAZY GUYS"
Before their time don't ya think? LOL! They oughta be exposed to some good old SNL though. That's a thought!
I agree, SNL reference probably went over their heads. Lol
The end is a masterpiece also roadhouse blues has to be heard. In terms of 60s bands have you guys ever heard of small faces one of the most underrated bands of that era. Steve Marriott the singer had such a unique voice.Try Tin soldier you will love it I guarantee it.
This song, Arlo Guthrie's anthem and Under the Bridge by the Red Hot Chili Peppers really capture LA.
Don't forget Randy Newman's "I Lo v e L.A."
hollywood nites too, by bob seger
"DRIVING THROUGH ANOTHER DIMENSION" is a great description of this song; the vocal, the drumming, piano and guitar playing are superb. The driving and frenetic beat of the song fits with listening while driving along a freeway. Their music was part of the LA Laurel Canyon scene which gave us folk rock and psychedelic music in the late 60s. You must watch the Netflix documentary called "Echo in the Canyon" which is describes this section of LA as a musical Garden of Eden and will give you an insight into what it was like. So many great musicians were interacting and creating new musical sounds and great songs and a new kind of rock. You still need to react to some of these artists such as Joni Mitchell, the group Crosby, Stills Nash and Young, the Byrds and Jackson Brown. I think you already reacted to Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles who were part of this scene.
Yes react to "The End". I think the recorded versions are usually better so listen t them first then the live version. Here is a good live 1968 version of "Love Me Two Times" czcams.com/video/pcAS_i79WYE/video.html
Jim Morrisons own father never heard "Light my Fire" which is sad. Jim was a super intelligent human being.
That having been said, Robby Kreiger wrote "Light My Fire", not Jim.
@@stevelarrison wasnt it from the first Doors album too though? Youd think his father would take less than 10 minutes to listen to his son's first biggest hit aha
There are great documentaries on you tube with Jimâs dad and sister.
@@gandhialwaysleavesanonion679 Jim Morrison's father was a rear admiral in the Navy. And the 60s were a very turbulent time in American history. He and his father didn't exactly get along very well.
He did too hear it. Jim's sister brought the LP home for his parents to read. Needless to say, the father was not pleased with 'The End'.
So let me tell you guys, I was born and raised in LA and as a teenager in the 70s, I totally felt like he was singing this song just to us LA girls and l still doâ€p.s. yes! We loved taking Acid and listening to this album and the rest of our 70's music đ€đ¶đ
An absolute classic. Along with âRoadhouseâ of course đ
The Oliver Stone feature film âThe Doorsâ starring Val Kilmer as Morrison, is an absolute must see
Great reaction!!!!! I had forgotten how satisfying this song is. Takes me back to the first time I heard it so so many years ago.
So for the next Doors song try "Break on through (to the other side)". Jim's original "she gets high" line wasn't released for 30 years!!! Check it out
One of the greatest songs ever recorded.
I Got An Absolute Rock Anthem For You My Music Lovin Brothers,, That NO ONE Should Go Through Their Life Without Hearing,, BILLY THORPE "CHILDREN OF THE SUN"...R.I.P. Billy
I would have given anything to watch Jim perform this live! Thanks Guys!
I love the A-B dynamic between vocals and the guitar. Usually thats done between voice and harmonica but it works well with the guitar and should be done more often.
Its awesome how much u appreciate beautiful music!! For real ive watched abt 6 of 6our reactions(different artists)in a row, I love that u recognize amazing songs... im in with u both now so keep up the awesome content! Xo
I was a teenager in the 60s growing up in LA. No band exemplified LA better than the Doors. The freeway traffic, bars nightclubs drugs angst scariness excitement danger thrill and strange more than the Doors
now you've open the Pandora's box: Moonlight drive, Strange days, When the music is over;
LA Woman is best with windows down and speakers cranking rocking down any highway any time any year
The Doors simply brilliant
The Doors years : 1965 - 1971 Roadhouse Blues. One of the first 70-ies car songs also comes to mind - Radar Love by Golder Earring, second one is 2-4-6-8 Motorway by Tom Robinson
This song is brilliant. And yes, a great driving tune! Give Gloria a listen -- it's not played much but I love it!
Thanks for your reaction -- you guys bring such a smile to my face.
LA woman the best from one of the best rock n roll bands ever!!
The DOORS recorded the LA Woman album "Live" at their Workshop.
That's why it sounds Live
It's a studio.
LA night freeway driving music, all windows down and the winds a blowing,
Volume up and lighting one up. Damn good old memories
SO coool that you picked up on the "driving song" aspect. This is one of the best road trip songs, ever!
This is a speeding ticket song. You have no idea how many times I've been tooling up the Grapevine out of Kern heading back home to LA at about 90 mph at 10 pm ... perfect song
Another home run...if your going to play The Doors that's the song to play...good one...Rock On...
Epic song! Love everything about it! Fun Fact: Elvis' bass player Jerry Scheff is killing it on the 4 string here. He really lays it down just perfect!
Been listening to this for a long time but didn't learn until recently! Another cool song from this album is The WASP
Soooo many doors songs are freaking amazing. AMAZING. This is my all time fave my them.
Billy Idol did a great cover of it. He was in the movie The Doors. I can't remember who he played.
Canât believe I lived through all this great music. Makes me happy when I see you discover it. And...This is the end!
