Wassup!!! I love talking about animation/making animation edits in any format (Movies, TV, etc...) as well as a reasonably deep analysis of different family entertainment and content, through quirky dialogue and the occasional use of dry comedy. 😂

Personally my top 3 favourite animated films who used a low frame rate are Spiderverse, Puss in Boots the last wish and ROTTMNT movie. Yet even though they do the same technique they all still seem different from one another.
Spiderverse has a more comicbook synthetic as each frame looks as if it could be pulled straight from a panel on a page.
Puss in boot is a bit more detailed and has more textured characters. But it hasn't gone down the realistic looking root like the other films in the Shrek franchise did.
Rise of the TMNT to me seems more like a traditional 2d anime with it's expressive and exaggeration faces and body movements.

Stop Motion also utilises low frame rate at advantage

This is crap, the low frame rate animation looks horrible and it is actually painful to watch for quite a lot of people. It strains eyes much more than if you have high frame rate and it just offends generations of animators that were striving to get clean and fluid animation and not being able to because 24 frames per second is monumental task.
Some stylizations can work with low frame rate, like the Gumball and stuff. But anything that is action based is running the risk that the frame rate won't be enough to even convey movement as movement and just as random flashing images. Spiderverse had few scenes where they went too far and the action scenes were complete mess.
And don't compare having fluid animation and than chopping half of the frames away with anime and their speedlines scenes. Those are specifically crafted to avoid low frame rate animation that look like trash by not animating the scene at all and still conveying the dynamic action. It is a way to avoid having ugly animation and not reveling in it like most new low frame rate animated trash does.

Thank god this fad is finally dying, in few years people will be making youtube essays about how horrible it was.
