  • In this video, picked up my trailer in Texas and struggled to get out. The goal was to get home to gather my tarps, additional equipment, etc. We salvaged the trip by finding another load paying well. I also called brokers (Dispatching myself) and learning the ropes.

    I would have locked down that Coyote load. Let him know you will pick it up right away. Ask him if he can pull it from the loadboard while you fill out thecarrier packet. They will work with highly motivated individuals.
    You have to always be closing. Put them in a position to not want to lose you.

    Keep it up bro! It's tough for everyone out here in the hotshot game right now, both for newer and older authorities! 💪💪

    I’m going through that now with a my 30 day old authority. I was in Dallas and met you and your pops at the securement class. You guys showed me your truck and trailer setup. Keep those wheels turning.

      Awesome. That first 30 and 90 are rough but it gets better. We just hit 6 months in April. A lot smoother now. Thanks for watching!

    Im looking to get into hotshot but what im seeing to hate is these shady ass companies. I hate negotiating because im from Baltimore and we dont play with people and money. And them trying to scam you due to you being new is nuts.

    Way to go man. Love to see people go for it. A couple things I didn't know for loading when I started out (maybe you already know): Knowing where the center of mass of your trailer is. Also, scaling your setup so you know each empty axle weight and overall weight. I was legal for up to 40k lbs and my setup weighed close to 20k empty. I had a fuel tank and toolbox in the bed just like you've got. Good stuff! Do you carry 4x4's?

    I just bought a 2007 E-450
    I'm adding a big truck 5th wheel so I can hook up to gooseneck or rv. I'm rebuilding an old 24' gooseneck trailer...
    I'm starting out with a small budget for now...
    I'm also going to add a sleeper to the cab and chassis...
    God willing I should be ready in about 6 months...
    I don't see myself buying a new truck and trailer just yet..!!!
    Good luck on your journey...

    If you cut a slot in an old socket and put it on a cordless drill it makes rolling those straps much faster

    Congratulations on your new authority. But man you cannot be out here taking cheap freight you will go out of business real quick. Half the reason why Texas rates are so bad is because everybody and they mama is doing hotshot and people like you taking cheap freight

    • @t3philtv
      @t3philtv  Před 2 lety +2

      Everyone’s definition of cheap freight is different. $1.85 a mile for a partial is not cheap freight in my opinion. Keep doing you. Stay up. Appreciate you watching.
