What a beautiful, sturdy, glowing result of this major renovation of Free Spirit Equestrian’s barn. It is like night and day the difference. Especially when one knows in what bad shape it really was. 56 rotten structural posts is incredible, considering that there was so much live activity going on inside this structurally impaired barn. Morton did you proud, Shae and Kyle. I know how happy you are. Congratulations on such success. One can be sure that on cold, windy winter days, the horses are going to feel a lot warmer now, than last year. Such enjoyment to be had by all!! I watched a CZcams video by a lady who lives in the horse world and is studying to be a vet. Boiling her video into a "nutshell", she showed clips of Shae in different phases of horse training, and was very complimentary of it indicating that what Shae does is the way it should be done. I concur. It's obvious to me that all of her horses love her. A person doesn't get that by being a crappy trainer. (I wish I could remember that person's name, but can't.)

The renovation looks spectacular and the company did a great job for you both. The colours look very smart too and really lift up the whole place then the elegant FSE sign was the perfect finishing touch. The boys were very nosey checking it out and clearly approved of how it looks. Mushy in the work hat cracked me up and he's such a sweetheart.❤
You deserve this so much! When I first got my project horse I watched your videos every day because u train your horses amazingly. You taught me the horse comes first and slow and steady will always win in the end. You taught me that horses will get overwhelmed and scared. You taught me how to teach my first project horse!

Morton barns built my barn in 1984 and they come every 10 yrs to do repairs and updates. They are great and your barn looks great !

The barn looks better than some homes. Love that your color choice coordinates with your home. Best part of video was Mushu wearing the hard hat! Made me laugh so hard and fell even more in love with him if that’s even possible. Kyle is so laid back but it’s easy to see how happy it makes him to see you so happy. My Grandmother's barn was like a city inside. They had corrals on the backside to shelter all the cattle and the horses with outside easy access stalls for each horse, each cowboy to take the saddle & bridle off right there with internal elevated hallways to add feed down into them. It was a working farm. They had corn bins & a corn grinding area to sack their own feed. Lots of hay bins. The hallway was double wide for a large wagon to drive in and lift the hay up & over into the bins. At the end of the hallway it went into the back corrals for all the cattle. We had lots of corncob fights across the hallway in those upper bins. There are some old pictures of them taking lunch out to all the farm workers in the fields, having lunch on blankets, circa 1910. Men dressed like cowboys, women in long dresses, Grandpa in a suit.
Just a question, did they run over the outside with a giant magnet to pick up any lost screws & nails?

I watched the entire process & transformation & I was surprised as you, couldn't believe how bad it was & how deep it went. This is so Classy & elegant, & rich, they did a superior job, & worth $$, this will last you for many many decades. IF You you didn't watch the whole VIDEO YOU CAN'T REALLY UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH QUAILTY MATERIALS & SO MUCH WORK WAS DONE THAT YOU WILL NEVER SEE. SO MUCH MATERIAL 6' below with cement anchoring around. Totally mind blowing all the unexpected work that was mandatory to be replaced & now a fantastic investment in your property. Worth every single $$ & so well done. A wonderful new 5* home for all your babies & done just in time before the cold comes. You did it right from the Start, 1st class with some extras that really pays off, & will add years of life to the barn. So proud of the designs & y'all took that gigantic step to do this huge undertaking which was needed even more than expected.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉CONGRATULATIONS SHEA, KYLE & ALL YOUR FANTASTIC ANIMALS!!!! ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😅

The new horse barn exterior looks beautiful and I definitely love the colors you chose for a new, fresh, modern look! I laughed at the Morton construction guy's little twirl ... changing the barn instantly from old to new! LOL!! You definitely chose the best of the best when it comes to a metal barn and pole building construction company. Morton cannot be beat! I love how the horses were so curious about the new barn and excited to be back in the paddock to check it out. They are all so cute! It's so nice to see your horses and you having this amazing building after all the effort and hard work you have invested into making it happen. They did a fabulous job as it almost looks like a brand newly constructed barn; the fact that it's a repair and update is really a testament to it's original purpose. You and Kyle did a good job in picking out the company that's reflected in your barn's transformation. As an Engineer, I'm sure Kyle can appreciate the work that went into the barn's transformation. Horse trainer, breeder and barn owner of over 60 years here, and your follower! Your new barn is beautiful; what a great job you, Kyle and Morton's guys, did!
Perhaps you have plans to do these and I'm just jumping the gun, but based on too-many-to-count years of experience, I have some suggestions to keep it looking and performing great over the coming years....
While it's convenient to have the paddock area bordered on that side by the barn wall and certainly less expensive then putting more fencing up, I'd try to keep the horses off the sides of the barn. If you can, run Safe-fence or steel fencing at least wide enough to get a large tractor thru, parallel to the barn. That first kick or even a dent from an itchy be-hind rubbing against those perfect "butt-rubbing ribs" will break your heart plus could lead to rust forming, damaging the metal.
I'm assuming that pressure-treated wood was installed at the base and while that lasts a long time, I also treat mine with Thompson's water seal. Keep a yearly schedule to protect that wood and your investment. This would be my first step before laying the gravel down.
I love what you are putting in the gravel and that you intend to grade away from it and the barn. That is very smart! The run off from the gutters will run into your paddock creating some "canyons." When this started happening after my new barn was installed, I had French Drains put in before that run-off created problems. Because of the extreme size of your barn, you might choose a different solution. I think doing that will help save your paddock from experiencing little "Grand Canyons."
I'm assuming you have a powder-coating surface on the outside of the barn. One thing you will now begin to notice that you may not have seen before because your barn was red, are flies leaving their poo! After a few years this will really become evident, especially when viewed up close. I tried first waxing the sides of my barn to try to make it easier to clean but that got old fast, so power-washing every so often, especially on a hot day, can be sorta "fun." Of course, besides picking up poo constantly and instituting on-going fly control measures, flies still happen; we just do our best.
I hope you don't think I've overstepped my bounds and take these suggestions in the spirit I offer them; I believe we should never stop educating ourselves and learning from the experiences of others who've gone before is part of that process.
Now, a fun "ask"...perhaps you've already put together a video of the inside and I just haven't found it yet but would you consider doing a video of the inside stall area and your feed room now that your barn is finished? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to see it!

As long as the lower door tracks don’t ice up, those doors should work fine. In the case of ice buildup, some clearing will need to be done.

I love horse antics I could watch them all day. I wish I could show you a pix I got from my cousin today. When she is going to take her horse on the trailer to go for a ride she goes into a riding arena stall to get small bale hay. Her horse saw her go to get that and immediately assumed he was going on the trailer. She was calling him and he always comes. When he didn’t come she went out to the pasture to see if he went further off and didn’t hear her. Well she couldn’t find him! She finally spotted something not right behind some pines in the woods. There he was hiding 😂 when she sent the pic I was dieing laughing. I wish I was there to see that. He’s a smarty pants.

Morton makes very good buildings. Their doors are probably the smoothest performing of any of the pole buildings. We put up a Morton building in the ‘70s, and other than looking faded, it’s still in good shape.
The details show the quality & the details are screamin' KICK@$$.

Wow, I absolutely love the colors you have chosen for the siding on the barn. With my type A personality I would have had to put up fencing far enough away from the siding that no horse could lick it, bite it, rub on it or even kick it, lol, in order to keep it beautiful! You should be very proud of this, and your new boutique line just launched!
