Fun fact: Sophie actually never sent Arca the lyrics for La Chiquí as requested, and the words are manipulated in such a way that the phonetic sounds blend together. And now that Sophie has passed away, literally no one knows what Sophie's lyrics are for La Chiquí.

i like to think of la chiqui as sophie and arca coming together as two of the biggest producers of the genre and just trying to make the most boundary pushing song they could

Fav song like they went so insane and I love it.
Oh man, her song Time gave me the strength to come out to myself and start transitioning almost two years ago. I remember listening to it over and over, knowing what my future should be like. The tenderness and honesty that song carries really helped me break the denial i had been living with for years. With the soothing and repeating "its time" message was so obviously telling me to no longer lie to myself ♥
Such a powerful and delicate message I kind of relate too 🤍💞 so glad you find power in this 💚 it has also given it to me.

You will like kiCk iiii! kiCk iii is the boldest and most cohesive of the kiCk series imo, it‘s one of the most boundary-pushing female-energy aggressive-and-emotional albums I‘ve ever heard. Thanks for all your reactions and greets from Germany :))

It’s worthy to mention that Arca has contributed production work to artists like Björk, Kanye West, FKA twigs, and Kelela, and she has worked with artists like The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Planningtorock, Rosalía, and Sia. So even though her production style uses a lot of deconstructed hip hop/reggaeton (it’s not hyper pop), it can actually be very appealing to the mainstream at times.

I'm not lying when I say that I've heard "La Chiqui" on repeat, and about the word "menealo", it means something like moving your body, shake your body; in a dance context.

Ik this video is kind of old lol but Mequetrefe is inspired by a video of arca in the earlier part of her transition and she wasn’t exactly passing but she was presenting femme and she was basically being like harassed by people on the side walk but she continued to film herself and walk confidently. Mequetrefe is basically about continuing to being confident and letting other peoples hate fuel you to continue. She’s basically using the word Mequetrefe as gossip or the people talking about her and using that to become more confident rather than getting hurt. at least that’s how i see it. i love that song.
Afterwards lyrics are extracts from Anoche Cuando Dormia, a poem by spanish writer Antonio Machado. It’s really beautiful

the thing about Arca, is she has such a deep understanding of so many different genres of music which is why she is so good at subverting and experimenting with all those genres. The KiCk album cycle is a perfect showcasing of that, as well as Arca fully coming into her own as an unapologetically queer and trans being. she is so unique and talented and amazing!
With each new video I leave wanting to hear the album again and again after not listening to them for so long hahaha great content :)

mequetrefe also means in spanish latinoamerican countries party, mequetrefe is inspired by a time when arca was going to the street with femenine clothes and there were a group of people who just were judging her, it's from a live she did or something like that iirc. the happy sounds from the first part sounds like the euphoria she has being confident with herself (she doesn't neet a taxi or an uber or lyft) and the dark part shows the disphoria and struggles she suffers from the outside.

Even though the people are super nice and fun to be around, as a venezuelan, I know how conservative and religious the country is. Catholicism is a strong aspect of most citizens' lives and can make it hard to talk about LGBT related things, or just in general stuff considered "taboo". So I think in her song riquiquí she talks about how even though she loves herself, she still fears God (wether it's bc she's religious or bc that's what the people around her have pressured her into thinking).

i would love you to react to more of the 'kick' albums, but definitely do them in order because i feel as though it truly shows a progression in her music and style, and listening to them in order allows you to be taken on that journey of self-discovery. but yeah, definitely react to more of the kicks (or some of her other works)
