I love using lace trims and I love buying it both by the yard and by the bolt. When sewing it, I prefer to hand sew it on especially if its ribbon and Im working on a really big time frame (such as my Scarlett O’Hara Saratoga dress which I have to hand sew a plaid pattern using ribbons to make the grids). Inset is usually used for undergarments such as cotton or silk petticoats.
I really like the way that you talked during the novelty trim part (around the 4 min mark). You sound a lot more comfortable and less practiced. It makes the tutorial feel much more personal :)

Thank you for showing this. I just wasn't sure about the hem being done first. I'm actually redoing a purple velour robe. I removed the top design and now want to add the lace to the front and wrist areas. This video has helped tremendously

Great video that *mostly* answers my question. I'm using rhinestone tassel fringe fringe to embellish a neckline. I already tried sewing them on, but the thread kept tangling in various places including the stone's holders and the stones themselves. Do you have a video or any tips for handling this type of trim? Also, are you putting your fabric on some kind of upright support? Thanks for any help.

I'm curious about how to finish the ends of trim, like say the trim goes down the side, how do you finish the end of the trim that aligns with the hem? It looks bad left rough.
How do you cut novelty trim? I've sewn what I want on and cut the end off. Ready to start the next piece but the end keeps fraying. I tried sewing the end of the trim but there's too many pieces of string coming apart. essentially nothing to sew to. Should it be taped, cut then glued and left to dry before starting next piece?

I have a very similar trim to the brown criss crossed one you show in the video. When I cut it, the edges don’t stay cross crossed at the ends. Any tips?
I don't know why not, especially if it looks really obvious. Maybe the mesh is there so you can machine stitch on the trim without having to do it by hand, but if it doesn't look good then I would do what you suggest.

Have you tried using Fray Check? That works pretty good for me on most things but I guess it would depend on the trim
My problem is the ends of wide trims, as they tend to fray unless they end where I can put it under the item. Any tips?
