  • In this video, we'll review the 10 tallest buildings in Ghana. Skyscrapers and tall buildings are very common across the world. In Africa, the tallest tower is the 270-meters, the Great Mosque of Algiers while the tallest buildings found on the continent include the Carlton Centre in South Africa at 233 meters, the Britam Tower in Kenya at 200 meters, and the 173 meter Ponte City Apartments in Johannesburg South Africa. The Skyline of Accra is changing at high speed with many luxurious buildings and apartments rising up. Construction is booming in Ghana's capital Accra. Shiny new high-rise blocks and shopping centers are sprouting up all over the city, and the cranes dotting the skyline hint that more are on the way. The building boom is accompanied by new wealth. Ghana is among the fastest-growing economy in the world, according to the International Monetary Fund. Although there are many ongoing constructions in the country, especially in the Accra the capital, our video today will focus on existing tall buildings in the country.

    Accra is like an average European city almost no highrises only mid-rise buildings however, that could change at any moment. There's also alot of work needed within the inner city as we currently allow low rise buildings and slums to be built at city centers. If there is a govt policy to regulate this as in other countries, Accra could emerge as one of Africa's most beautiful cities. Currently, the living environment in Accra can be said to be satisfactory, but in terms of highrises, greenparks etc Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Lagos, Abidjan, Luanda, Harare, ofcourse SA cities, etc are better. Also, lookout for Kumasi, Takoradi, Koforidua, Sunyani and Tamale. I think these cities has a lot of potential in the coming years especially Takoradi.

    • @TheNewAfricaChannel
      @TheNewAfricaChannel  Před 3 lety +12

      Yes, there's a lot of ongoing and proposed projects in Ghana. Unfortunately, Hope City died off after the change in government and there's little news about the world-class Petronia city. However, the skyline line of Accra is rising so fast, with many buildings at the Airport city, leaving out Accra Central and the beachfront. Maybe it will change with Marine Drive Project. There's The Signature, Kenta Tower, Accra Twin Towers, Cantonments City, Accra inter and intra-city bus terminal, Tribute House, The Exchange, and many more construction ongoing....We'll have videos coming, so stay tuned :)

    • @TheNewAfricaChannel
      @TheNewAfricaChannel  Před 3 lety +11

      Good observation, as there're 18 building in Nairobi that stands above 80m to 200m. So only the number 1 in Ghana can make the top 20 list. With that said, note that East Africa started building vertically much earlier on as compared to West Africa. This is however changing, as there're currently ongoing project and proposed projects in many west African countries, including Ghana.

    talking about infastructure Ghana indeed, lacks behind such countries as Nairobi,Kenya, DarreSalam,Tanzania even Abidjan ,Cote D' Ivoire and the reason is not far fetched, the government of the first president of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah sadly, got toppled and the subsequent unstable governments, and leaders who are not infastructure oriented, not so the leadership of Jomo Kenyatta, Julius Nyerere Houphet Boigny, these had a stable government until their demise

      Also, there's nothing embarrassing here, as Africa is developing. If you check out the more developed countries in Europe, they don't build that high, even Kenya; Egypt, and South Africa have more tall buildings. The tallest building in Austria is 220m, Germany is 259m, Spain is 228m, and and and...
