I paid for a color and style analysis and wardrobe edit and here is what I learned

  • I got my color analysis done by a professional stylist, and I learned that I am a soft summer-soft autumn mix. The stylist also helped me with my style and put together some outfits for me from my wardrobe, and based on my style a color analysis she suggested what items suit me best and what I should consider decluttering from my wardrobe.
Here is the website of the stylist, based in Vienna, Austria: www.stylingwithkarima.com/

At first I thought the colour analysis was wrong until you shared the outfits and I could really see the difference it made, especially when you showed outfits that you’re letting go of. The class is style really does look amazing on you and you really do seem to have a good understanding of the colours, cuts and styles that will accentuate your figure. Thanks for making such a detailed video, it gave me a lot to think about with my wardrobe.

My hair was red when young but now has turned to platinum blonde as I'm now in my 60s. I love this change, however, it has totally changed the tone of my skin and eyes. I wear cool neutral colors now, like beige, white, navy, and gray. Plus black of course! Skin/ hair/ eye colors are SO individual. I believe you can find your best colors on your own without paying someone to hold up different colors to your face. You can do this yourself and you will naturally gravitate to the colors that look good on you. Ditto for makeup. ❤

I agree with her assessment of you. Definitely you are a classic style type. All of the classic lines really, really suit you. They just really make you shine. The color season was also spot on. The reds that were too bright really overpowered you for example. The muted colors were so much better on you. This was so interesting. Thank you for sharing this. I really enjoyed watching.

    Definitely think you're cool.
I like the blue T and jeans at1:09 ,but I think the brown belt is too warm. I didn't like the mustard top ,or olive - I think it's leaning to close to warm autumn in the soft palette. Maybe try a beigey- yellow sweater.
Use cocoa brown and pink brown, rather than warm orange -yellow ,golden brown.
Definitely like the mauve pinks and greens in the cool summer, and the blues in the soft autumn. The purple jacket didn't work with the mustard top in my opinion - I found it to rich against the brown yellow.
Try having the checkered red and black shirt open at the neckline half way down, with a taupe shirt, or burgundy ,and wrap an ecru or beige white scarf around your neck.

I am a soft summer and do not wear any of those colors. Your cream top looked great. All the outfits looked lovely on you but I feel the autumn colors and black over powers you.

I also think I have yhis coloring and we look alike in contrast and color/hue and chroma. I yhink chroma and contrast might be the same thing but either way 😂.
I agree with your analysis and with the darker blue of the shirts. Mustard and aubergine looked great on you! And green.

On such a gorgeous woman, it should be easier to find clothes that suit you perfectly! I think your analyst is onto something, (classic, yes) but something's missing still. I agree with what Merriam Style channel recently said: people with delicate coloring struggle to find their ideal colors in the typical color analysis systems. Keep looking for the colors that make your skin and eyes sparkle.
In general, I can see that extreme dark vs light contrast on the top and bottom can be tricky on you compared to low-contrast and monochromatic outfits. A collection of nice belts, strategic jewelry and scarves becomes more important, because you'll want visual relief from head-to-toe clothing.
Overall, I agree that black isn't bad but also not your ideal choice. I'm not convinced that darks in general are great unless you break them up with a brighter version in the same color family, or wear something like pearls or a creamy scarf to soften the transition from face to neck.
That mustard gold turtleneck looks good on you. Wouldn't it look even better with lighter color trousers: ecru, ivory, caramel, maybe taupe, with the brown belt? How about with that sparkly jacket you wore with all-black skinny pants and high heeled black boots? How about a lighter harmonious gold-mustard-cream outfit with the same jacket?
The scarlet red pants are fun and flattering, but as your stylist said they look "off" with a black top. What about a top that's once again in a similar depth? Orchid, raspberry, terracotta, mustard yellow, deep camel, taupe? Keep playing with with it!
I actually like the olive dress/shirt/coat. Keep playing with that, too. Try a colorful obi belt or statement leather belt to add interest. Shirt dresses in general fit the classic style very well.
For color, you could also search Trinny London's (of the original British What Not To Wear TV show) Closet Confession video series for the occasional episodes in which she talks about color combinations. Her color sense is unusual and inspiring. Actually, her own coloring is similar to yours, so perhaps helpful anyway. Her style isn't, she prefers eclectic unless it's one of her gorgeous coats, but I guarantee she'll show you interesting ideas.

Thank you for such a detailed analysis and feedback. I will consider your suggestions, but I must say, it would require me to buy quite many new pieces, so I have to be very strategic about it, as I don't want to accumulate more stuff and spend money unnecessarily.

    • @Lighthouse1852
      @Lighthouse1852 Před 6 měsíci

I'm sorry if I gave the wrong impression. I'm on the same page: no overbuying, please. To me it's a matter of being alert if we need to buy a new winter coat, or when a friend is giving away old pieces, or maybe asking for a (antique gold) scarf or belt that grandma no longer wears. Knowing what to look for, and trying on things than we're not accustomed to choosing. I don't think anyone should wastefully go out and buy a new wardrobe. It's about gradual evolution, not a buying spree. @@KicsiViki24

Szia Viki! 🙂

I am a soft summer but do not wear those olive colors or mustards and feel they do not compliment you. Howeeeeeer, I understand it's hard to look through colors on the internet.

    • @ingridpear1882

Yes,I feel like the mustard and some olives are too golden brown , and lean more into warm autumn. She needs to lean into purple, pink mauve, cocoa, teal, and the generally softer , cool, rather than warm palette.
