I will be totally honest I didn't really like iron man at first but from homecoming to endgame after his relationship with Peter I started to like him and then it all ended with those 4 words and I rewatched all the iron man movies and I now think of him as one of my favorites

Even though I've always said Cap is my favorite #TeamCap, Tony has one of, if not THE most compelling characters I've seen on a big screen. You know he grew up in the shadows of his dad's legacy... but ever really felt like his dad loved him. But then he built his own legacy, one that was borne out of anxiety and PTSD and guilt... and after that failed, he had a kid and she will be his greatest legacy... and he literally gave her the world back. He went from the selfish narcissist who doesn't play well with others to being a leader and a father and a true hero, a guy who will be remembered, despite his failures, as a great hero.

While the song is sometimes a bit too 'messy' to fit over the voice clips perfectly, this is fantastically edited. "I shouldn't be alive if it wasn't a reason, now I know what I have to do" timed with the snap as the song hits "already know... how. it. ends." is perfect, before cutting to Tony on death's door witnessing the blinding light of salvation. Just fantastic. Every line is tied back to its original reference. Tony's death didn't hit me all that hard in the cinema. But this? This broke me. Just the crushing inevitability of the song timed with Tony making peace with all of his family... My heart.

As far as storytelling goes and wrapping up an 11 year arc, this movie was phenomenal.
As a justice to Tony Stark's character, this was an absolute tragedy and a miserable disservice.
Cap gets to go back and have a do over and live the life he always wanted... While Tony, who only wanted to finally settle down and live with his family after having already lost so much, gets gutted and the only upside is he finally gets to "rest"???
Like, you don't have to die to find peace and be happy- Tony stated all he wanted was to come back from the mission (which he initially declined because of the obvious risk) was to come back and LIVE so that he could be with his family.
Tony's character is all about progression and evolution and doing better- his ultimate stepping down should have been him also LIVING in the end with his family; BUT retiring from his life as Iron Man; similar to Cap.
And there should've been a scene towards the end (similar to the other Avenger characters wrapping up and getting their sendoffs) where Tony is alone and looking at his Iron Man armor wistfully in the garage or wherever, only to have his name called by Pepper. And then he goes to leave the room, but not before turning for one last glance at the armor and a wistful smile... He turns out the lights and walks away... and then the audience hears him talking/laughing with his child/family as the scene focuses on the Iron Man helmet and fades to black...
All of this ranting aside, this video is an excellent tribute! ❤
