Rick Neilsen isn't just a guitarist, he's a comedian. He's a super intelligent quick guy who just happened to rock out. I love guitarists who can make guitars laugh.

He is a great guitarist. I saw Cheap Trick in Killeen texas and they stayed at the Holiday in that I was in at the time. I saw Rick go to the buffet get some food and sit down, I turned to my son and said- there is one of the best rock guitarists to ever lived. Rick looked up and I knew he heard me. A really great guy.

What I love about Rick, is that he loves rock n roll so much. When you are a kid, your teachers will always tell you to be well rounded, but it is the people who aren’t well rounded that are always the real characters in life, the gems, like Rick. Love him.

I was in my mid teens and playing guitar when CT hit it big. I remember my best bud and I followed them around the southeast during their tour We would wait till after the last song, the lights came up and waited for the first 15-20 rows or so would leave. We would usually find about 10 picks and after one show the tech regonized us and tossed about 30 at us.
They are all the white ones with his profile and fairly common. Also have 2 checkered straps from the late 70s era that are worth some $$ but I like him will die with most my stuff.

I was fortunate enough to see Cheap Trick before they made their first album. They were from Rockford Il and played many of the clubs in Lake County IL and Kenosha County WI.
Their live club shows were always great. I think after they made their first album the "oomph" started to go away. When they were on stage 20' away from me in a small club it was incredible, personal and memorable. When they started playing venues with 10,000+ fans, they became just another rock and roll band.

pbduck I believe, Joel Dansig. The Founder of Hamer. The Idea 100% Rick. I didn't know he bought "The fool" from Todd Rundgren. (Originally Clapton's,) an altered early 60's SG painted by Dutch Artist: "The fool" There are a few Very good Fakes around, that "The fool" happily painted. I had one. He has 2, 58 Explorers, & A "Favorite" 58 LP Burst, used on Most of CT"s best recordings. & a Zillion other Unreal guitars & gear ! When he bought most of his gear, it wad just "Used" & quite Inexpensive. I also would buy any guitar that played & sounded good. 50"s Les Paul's in the late 70's/ early 80's were $750 for Goldtop's & $1500.For a "Burst" MAX ! ( From a store that Knew they were "Desirable") & WAY Cheaper @ a Pawnshop or a Store that ( Didn't know) & yard sales.. Every guitar.. $50 ! BEFORE THE NET. Those days are LONG GONE !
