What a wonderful report. I used to live in Kuilapalayam (5yrs) and I miss it so much since I moved to France 5 yrs ago. And to see that you showed the 'Natures Gift' selection of jams and nut butters was great as the man who started that venture was a good friend of mine and died recently! THANK YOU... you certainly shined the spirit through your work!

Lived in Pondicherry for 5 years owing to college and so Auroville was one of the go to places for a weekend trip given how small Pondy is. Auroville is such a beautiful place. I miss how everything is so in tune with nature and the pace of life there. Bread and Chocolate was for me okay.

Basically in Auroville, un order to afford all those things, you need to buy them. I thought that in Auroville everyone lived with NO money...so, it has become an attraction in order to make money...this is not why it was built un the first place!!!

It was never founded on the concept of no money - how could that work? It wa founded on the idea that basic overheads such as electricity and water were provided but that income had to be generated and a percentage of this goes into the central kitty to provide the basic services.

Kinda sad to see Auroville shown in this way like as if it's just another touristic place to visit, although the hostess of this show is quite pleasant. It is in fact not in Pondicherry but in Villipuram district of Tamil Nadu, and is not fifty thousand strong but closer to about three thousand. Svaram is not just a music shop but a unit of Auroville where amazing research is done in Sound and sound therapy, and they make instruments that are scientifically tuned for this purpose, www.svaram.org.
But, if you are there for just some hours (without prior research on this place) I suppose one ends up with a show that talks mainly about food and barely scratches the surface of this unique township in India.

Love this video too. Totally enjoyed the sound therapy part ... vaaooooo. I had been looking for a native american flute, now I know where to get one from.
