I was there about a year ago, as part of the NATO peacekeeping presence, on the border with Serbia. I was lucky to have the opportunity to visit that same castle. Now that I'm a civilian, I'd definitely consider visiting again. Very pretty country, reminded me of my home state of Colorado. The predominantly Albanian areas are relatively American-friendly, particularly Prizren and Pristina. The northern part of the country, not as much. (Note: I'm not picking favorites, I was fortunate enough to go on quite a few patrols with the Serbian border patrol, and all of them were very friendly. We also worked with local Serbian Kosovar interpreters, who we all considered a key part of the platoon. But if you're considering a visit, definitely do your research.)

We’re not sure since we flew straight into Tirana. We did drive into Montenegro during our Albania tour, and we drove through Croatia several years ago with no problems. A boat might be faster, but we’ve never gone that route. Good luck and have a great trip!

@@LandlockedLovebirds yeah, you could also get really good appartements for like 20 grand, and its like 2,5 hrs from the Albanian coast, minimal border disturbance, good highway roads with plenty uppertunities for snacking, sightseeing, and other activites. Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia are really undiscovered gems that offer so much quality and service and hospitability.
Generally speaking, I would say yes, the US is pretty safe. As with most countries or large cities, some places are safer than others, and most places are safer than the pictures painted by many media outlets. That was really the purpose in our title for this video. The media has painted a picture that Kosovo (and other countries) are nothing but war torn, dangerous places. Our intent was to show that there’s so much more to the story than war. I would venture to guess that many people from across the world now view the US as a dangerous, racist, gun slinging place to be afraid of. While there certainly is some of that occurring, the US is a big, diverse place, and those things are only small parts of the story that is generalized in the media. Cheers.

In 1999, the Serbian army lost a battle against the Uck, and they want to avenge themselves against the civilians, for that they go to the nearest village, the village where my mother is from and where her family lived. . This planned massacre was stopped by a Serbian family who said in front of the soldiers "if you want to kill the Albanians, we should also be killed" So thanks to these brave Serbs my mother's family is alive so you understand why I can't not treat Serbs the same. And I would never dare even if the Serbs would have killed my mother's family. But my dear, you must understand that in your country the propaganda is so bad that it makes you believe that you are the victims. There I am 29 years old, during the war I was 7-8 years old, when the war started I was 7. You will never be able to imagine what I lived. You cannot understand the word war without having lived it, you cannot imagine the fear I had, every moment we were waiting for death, and my mother tried to make me forget the situation. For me these are things that I experienced by myself, and no one can tell me that it was an illusion. My mother's fear was not of dying, but that the Serbs would kill me, and that she would be raped. Of course there were Serbs killed in the war, I would never dare deny it, but compared to the Albanians there were very few. And I can tell you that there are more Albanians in prison for war crimes while we are the victim, we have put them to the competent authorities because we want justice to be done. On the other hand in Serbia not only they are not punished but they are protected and you know that very well, if you follow politics a little. In your country there is this propaganda that makes you believe things that are wrong, but come and meet people who have lived through war and you will see that the reality is different. So we don't need to "try to pass ourselves off as the victim, WE ARE THE VICTIM AND YOU ARE THE AGGRESSOR! We did not come to kill you in Serbia, you came to us. Concerning our "self-proclaimed" republic, it was not the duty of Senegal or of another country to come and proclaim us independent but it was up to the people of Kosovo, and of course the biggest world powers like the USA, UK, Germany , France, Japan etc recognize us as independent, the countries, those which do not recognize the independence of Kosovo they have problems in their own country, like Spain with Catalonia, it would be strictly criticized if it wanted to recognize the independence of Kosovo. Same for Israel with Palestine, then the second category that does not recognize the independence of Kosovo are the countries that are your friends, such as Russia or Slovakia, for example. And then the last thing I wanted to tell u about the rights of Serbs in Kosovo. For 1.5% of Serbs in Kosovo we have made the Serbian language the second official language, the Serbs in Kosovo follow the Serbian school curriculum, speak Serbian and are not at all discriminated and even less expelled. You just have to think a bit, you don't even represent 2% of the population, if we wanted to expel you, we can do it in 1 day but that's not our goal. This is what you believe.
Note that we did not pay that amount. We paid a set rate for our entire 2 week tour that included our lodging. We simply used the internet to price what the hotel would have cost if we had booked it online without our tour company.
Rich hystory of Prizren is because it was capital of Serbian emperor tzar Dusan and churches and monasteries dating from 11-12th centuries. Whole town is like museum that witnessing serbian hystory there. Albanians burned many churches just in recent past. Even name of this "country" is Serbian word!!!!

@@LandlockedLovebirds yeah, you could also get really good appartements for like 20 grand, and its like 2,5 hrs from the Albanian coast, minimal border disturbance, good highway roads with plenty uppertunities for snacking, sightseeing, and other activites. Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia are really undiscovered gems that offer so much quality and service and hospitability.

Generally speaking, I would say yes, the US is pretty safe. As with most countries or large cities, some places are safer than others, and most places are safer than the pictures painted by many media outlets.
That was really the purpose in our title for this video. The media has painted a picture that Kosovo (and other countries) are nothing but war torn, dangerous places. Our intent was to show that there’s so much more to the story than war.
I would venture to guess that many people from across the world now view the US as a dangerous, racist, gun slinging place to be afraid of. While there certainly is some of that occurring, the US is a big, diverse place, and those things are only small parts of the story that is generalized in the media. Cheers.

And it seems like it won't happen soon. That's reality. I don't want to argue, but you have to understand that no one denies that there were bad people on both sides. And the thing is, you all present yourself as a victims exclusively, even though you are not naive at all. To say that Serbs are to blame for everything would be insane. Yes, you have suffered, but so have we. And we continue to suffer, while you glorify the expulsion of Serbs and deny basic rights to Serbs in Kosovo. In 1999, the Serbian army lost a battle against the Uck, and they want to avenge themselves against the civilians, for that they go to the nearest village, the village where my mother is from and where her family lived. . This planned massacre was stopped by a Serbian family who said in front of the soldiers "if you want to kill the Albanians, we should also be killed" So thanks to these brave Serbs my mother's family is alive so you understand why I can't not treat Serbs the same. And I would never dare even if the Serbs would have killed my mother's family. But my dear, you must understand that in your country the propaganda is so bad that it makes you believe that you are the victims. There I am 29 years old, during the war I was 7-8 years old, when the war started I was 7. You will never be able to imagine what I lived. You cannot understand the word war without having lived it, you cannot imagine the fear I had, every moment we were waiting for death, and my mother tried to make me forget the situation. For me these are things that I experienced by myself, and no one can tell me that it was an illusion. My mother's fear was not of dying, but that the Serbs would kill me, and that she would be raped. Of course there were Serbs killed in the war, I would never dare deny it, but compared to the Albanians there were very few. And I can tell you that there are more Albanians in prison for war crimes while we are the victim, we have put them to the competent authorities because we want justice to be done. On the other hand in Serbia not only they are not punished but they are protected and you know that very well, if you follow politics a little. In your country there is this propaganda that makes you believe things that are wrong, but come and meet people who have lived through war and you will see that the reality is different. So we don't need to "try to pass ourselves off as the victim, WE ARE THE VICTIM AND YOU ARE THE AGGRESSOR! We did not come to kill you in Serbia, you came to us. Concerning our "self-proclaimed" republic, it was not the duty of Senegal or of another country to come and proclaim us independent but it was up to the people of Kosovo, and of course the biggest world powers like the USA, UK, Germany , France, Japan etc recognize us as independent, the countries, those which do not recognize the independence of Kosovo they have problems in their own country, like Spain with Catalonia, it would be strictly criticized if it wanted to recognize the independence of Kosovo. Same for Israel with Palestine, then the second category that does not recognize the independence of Kosovo are the countries that are your friends, such as Russia or Slovakia, for example. And then the last thing I wanted to tell u about the rights of Serbs in Kosovo. For 1.5% of Serbs in Kosovo we have made the Serbian language the second official language, the Serbs in Kosovo follow the Serbian school curriculum, speak Serbian and are not at all discriminated and even less expelled. You just have to think a bit, you don't even represent 2% of the population, if we wanted to expel you, we can do it in 1 day but that's not our goal. This is what you believe.

Rich hystory of Prizren is because it was capital of Serbian emperor tzar Dusan and churches and monasteries dating from 11-12th centuries. Whole town is like museum that witnessing serbian hystory there. Albanians burned many churches just in recent past. Even name of this "country" is Serbian word!!!!
