The bassline in these games always reminds me of Toejam & Earl on Genesis.

Hi, great work! I'd like to see more people using this device for typical chiptunes - many are exploring what else it can do, which is fine, but a lot of comments I see for people wanting to buy this are for the retro music. Can I ask whether you just save the patterns to the device or whether you also store parts on a DAW to help composition? I assume it's only able to store audio files to a PC for a DAW? Thanks.

Thank you for watching the video!
I find it very inspiring to recreate retro game sounds. I think this is an efficient opportunity to increase the number of hardware presets that have many blank patterns.
In this challenge, we are aiming to recreate the Mega Drive game using only MEGA SYNTHESIS as much as possible, so no DAW is used.
I input the output to SmplTrek, apply a little reverb, and then send it to the camera via USB Audio for recording.
There is a limit to the number of tracks that can be used at the same time, so if you want to fully reproduce the game sound, you will need to use a DAW etc.
Patterns and sound presets created with MEGA SYNTHESIS can be recorded as audio or saved as SysEx backup files via MIDI.
Backed up SysEx files can also be imported.
Note: I'm using Google Translate, so I'm sorry if my interpretation is wrong.

@@SoundOptimize Thanks for your reply, it was very helpful - and the translation is very good and easy to follow. Sorry for my novice questions - could you have just sent the output from the MEGA to the camera (if reverb was needed) or is the SimplTrek needed?
I'm intrigued by you saying it can save patterns via SysEx via midi. A complete noob question, but does this mean that the SysEx file sent to pc/mac would be useable in a DAW with instruments and the sequence? I only ask as I know my live performance wouldn't be great, so I'd like to put small parts together and build up in the DAW. I could do this with audio files but I assume that the backup midi data via SysEx would be editable in the DAW? I'm waiting on the device shipping in the April pre-order, so can't try it myself as yet.
Really appreciate your work and love all the tracks you're putting out.

@@InvisibleZed I'm glad the translation was accurate.
As for your questions, I will answer them step by step.
SmplTrek's USB output supports recording from the camera's USB terminal.
Therefore, this is used as a bridge.
SmplTrek's USB audio is convenient for streaming audio directly into videos, and can also be used as an audio interface for DAWs, etc. by connecting it to a PC.
Before I used this method I was recording video and audio separately and merging them on my PC. It is very time consuming.
Regarding reverb, MEGA SYNTHESIS has one selectable FX system, which also includes a SEND reverb.
You can adjust the amount of SEND from each track to reverb, so if you just want to apply reverb, you don't need SmplTrek.
However, if you use reverb, you will not be able to select other FX such as delay.
Next, regarding file transfer using SysEx, unfortunately the SysEx file generated here is only for backing up MEGA SYNTHESIS.
MEGA SYNTHESIS' internal ROM capacity is limited, so if you use up all the patterns, sounds, etc., you will have to delete something.
In such cases, the SysEx export function is used to temporarily delete the file and restore it if needed.
Therefore, the SysEx file exported with this method cannot be brought into a DAW etc.
Possible methods include recording audio to a DAW or recording MIDI using MIDI output.
In the case of MIDI recording, it is easy to make corrections on the DAW, but some of the live functions unique to MEGA SYNTHESIS (such as moving the sound with parameter locks) are not recorded.
I think MEGA SYNTHESIS will be in your hands soon, so let's enjoy it!
