Man, I wish I could go, but unfortunately the event is on the wrong side of the country for me. Wish you the best in getting all the dogs adopted and I hope the event will be a success. 😊
I'll be watching
Thanks Rocky! Good luxk, God bless you!
Rocky, I so wish I could be there too!! I wish there was some way that there was compromise, so that you could do out of state adoptions …four years ago I lost my little tea cup yorkie, and I’m still heartbroken..my husband and I are in our 60’s, so ready to love again , I’d love to adopt from your organization, but live many miles away ! Would you guys consider? Just curious! What a doll he is ! 🩵
I am 84 years old and I live in Orem Utah. I used to have a toy poodle, but he died when he was 20 years old. It was the same time that I had a heart attack. I have been looking to save a rescue dog that is small and very very old, because I don’t want to get a dog and then die in the poor dog is on his own again
We adopt senior rescued Yorkies. They are asleep next to me right now. They are big dogs in little packages. Hugs to this guy.
I think Chihuahuas are like that , too.
I lost my Jack Russel (George) of 17 years on June 7th
I found your channel that very same day. Today I dropped off all his old toys, beds, coats, leads, poo bags and food. I also picked up his ashes.
The shelter was so kind and gave me the option to sit with dogs for a couple hours, and I have left the shelter with a German Shepard called Sasha, She's only 1 but is very well trained (her old owner passed away suddenly and no one in the puppy's family could look after Sasha) but was just as scared as the first pup in this video. But I sat with her for almost 2 hours, and she just came out of her shell.
I want to say thank you for doing all this amazing work with the dogs in shelters. Having now sat with dogs I now even more than before have appreciated all the work you do for these dogs, Thanks for also being my destress after work each day.
EDIT:
i want to say that i appreciate the kind words from everybody, It has helped me have a smile.
When i woke up this morning i saw two things one Sasha sitting outside my room looking sad, i gave her some pets and love she cheered up loads, then i walked into the kitchen she had done a poo in her water bowl. I laughed so hard it was the funniest thing in a while, I know know she might need to go more than my 17yo. But everything is a learning curve. Once again thank you for the kind words!
I'm so sorry for your loss, my Lulu passed in late May but Ive not been able to go to the shelter here with her toys yet.
Aww, bless you! I too lost my kitty that same week of 17yrs, I am heartbroken 💔 I just ache.🙏
I'm so happy you found each other
Thsnk you for being open to love another doggo! ❤❤❤
Blessings
I adopted a Boston Terrier from a puppy mill. He had never been out of a cage in his 2 years of life. He was a basket case, he knew nothing of the world except humans are not good. It took 6 months of gently working with him before he responded. I then rescued another Boston, a little female. When I brought her home they played together and then he jumped up on the couch and licked my face…for the first time! As if to say thank you human. He still has some fears but he’s a loving boy once he gets to know you. Now, I’ve recently adopted another rescue, a Yorkie-Poo that is scared when he meets new folks, but it doesn’t take long for him to warm up to them. The more we socialize him, the better he gets. Love them all. Thanks for all you do for these lovely creatures.
A local rescue group asked me to foster a terrified dog who was released from a puppy mill. She was supposed to be a breeder. That was four years ago. She's currently snoring in my bed. I'm so glad she adopted me.
😍
💝💝💝💝💝💝
How wonderful! They do adopt us, don't they?😊
🥰☺😇😘🙏
I adopted a cat who came from a hoarding situation of about 90 mostly black cats. My sweet girl had been a resident of my local shelter for 6 months, she was extremely shy and shut down. I brought her home a little over a year ago and she is really starting to warm up to me, it takes time and patience. Last week she crawled into my lap for the first time! Do take a chance on these needy creatures. You could be adopting the best pet ever!
I went to our local shelter to adopt the oldest one to go with my 13 year old they did not get along and mine ended up passing away 3 weeks after moving into a new place but they had carpet so I'm not sure if that carpet being so old affected something but my 13 year old cat went to heaven so I went to get the nails trimmed and ended up asking them for the other oldest one so that one is a girl a girl and she is Diva and bossy and will not let the other male adopted be peaceful so the little challenge their I'm hoping in time but right now it's like fight kind of body language growls and going up to each other like I'm hoping they'll never break loose into a wild fight wild fight wild fight and they do have to be separated when I leave❤❤❤❤❤❤

🎉And such wonderful news about your progress!
🎊 Big congrats!
Bless you for love.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I adopted a bitey small dog. The vet tech said get welding gloves from the hardware store, so I did. When he was biting my gloved had, I said calmly “ you know you aren’t hurting me.” His entire head swiveled around and from then on he respected me. I miss him. He was such a good dog.
6:51 6:53
That is a great tip.
You can do it! ❤
They are not in shock thank God! I adopted a puppy mill survivor who was 4 and was very abused. He came to me in shock and was a lot of work. He then lived with me for the next 15 years and was never normal but he was loved and loved his life! He laid next to me in bed every night and was so happy and not normal but loved for who he was. I think he may have reached 20 before he died but he fought so hard to stay here. I stayed with him until he passed and talked to him throughout his transition and it was a lot of work but well worth it.
I don't think my dog will ever be normal either, but your story inspires me to keep loving him the best I can!
Hate puppy mills, how can we make sure they don’t happen? 😢 so glad your good boi was loved ❤

Rocky, today I had a real breakthrough with my pet bird Petie while watching this show. She has been with me for two years or more. She has been very friendly with me but would not let me pet her. Today, she put her little head down and did not pull away when I pet her. For sure, she is going to go down in my journal as one of her most noteworthy moments of our time together. 🎉😊🎉
My sister's cat took 6 years... visiting her a few times a year... to accept me. I took it as a supreme compliment! And it just happened, out of the blue one day. Then her cat acted as if we'd been friends forever.😂
Hang in there, hopefully more breakthroughs coming for you & your bird. Our “Treasure” took a long time to warm up to us. Our neighbor watched Treasure for less than a week & came back with his wonderful Italian/Trinidad accent & new words like hellodare but the little bird would not go near him also took about two years.
I’ve got. 15 year old Yorkie and he has been the most amazing companion. So funny and loving. Fingers crossed for this one.
I pray God sends the right person

HI. My 16 year old Yorkie passed away several months ago. He brought us so much happiness and laughter. Yorki's have so much personality. But in the same breath, they can be so stubborn. lol July 1 we found a Yorkie mix in El Centro and went to see her. Needless to say She came home with us. The hole in my heart will always be there for Junior. But This little girl with fill a new part of my heart. What a blessing to both of us.
Yorkie are the best! They each have their own personalities!

You can tell he has never had positive affirmations given to him and once he realized he liked that he turned around even more and got so brave... What a sweet and brave boy!
When Rocky was wondering aloud what changed, I said to myself it's when you told him he's a good boy 😊
It's so sad to see this happen to these cute little ones.
Sing to him. You are my sunshine.
Hi. Cute little terriers. I hope they find wonderful homes. I have dealt with many ferals over about 30 yrs from age 5 until my present age of 68. I have dealt with dogs, cats, other wildlife, injured creatures, I learned how to deal with them from personal experience owing guidelines from TV to experienced pet owners to vets I met with my own pets. I admire you and the work you do. Plan to spread word and your videos as I hope to join and encourage others to do also. Approaching the pups the way you do and did reminds me of my techniques with ferals. Time and patience works wonders. Even a little of each goes a long way.😊
Adorable dog. I had a Yorkie who we absolutely adored and heartbroken when she died from kidney failure.
So sorry you are heartbroken, you will fine love again, there is always a puppy waiting for your love.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My heart breaks for these little darlings. May they each find a forever home.
You are dolng an amazing job Rocky
I’ll come from Florida to get this little guy! I lost my Yorkie a few years ago and his spirit is telling me to get this guy! 🥰
Go for it, sometimes our inner voice knows what is best for us!💕💕💕
I sure hope you get him he looks like he really needs a mommy right now , blessings to you and the pup 🙏
Hurry up and apply to the shelter!
@@RMMomma4Eva can we apply online?
My daughter adopted a Yorkie mix three years ago in a very similar state. He nipped her several times and growled every time anyone approached him. Over several weeks he decompressed and only nipped after giving a lot of warning. Today he still growls like he is going to tear you apart, but he only licks. I don’t understand what the growl means to him because he even growls when he is happy to see you.
We adopted a 7 month old unsocialized golden retriever in March. It is a process. His progress isn’t linear but he’s progressing.
@@jvjdrn Ditto. About 2 months ago took in a 7 month old Schnauzer/Poodle mix. She's white with cream, but she was painted red and pink for Valentine's Day. She also didn't speak the same language as me. I had to look up the command words that I needed to communicate to her. It is most definitely a journey.
OMG! He’s taking treats from your hand!!! Brought some tears of amazement and joy to my eyes. 😊
Because of Rocky, I tell my Papillon "you're a good boy" every day, and several times a day! Every dog needs to hear that!!💕💕🥰
I tell my girl a 100 times a day. She loves compliments.
i do the same everyday. i tell my dogs how much i love them and that i am thankful they are alive and healthy. i love them so much
My girl loves me to tell her she is beautiful and she's momma's baby. 😍
I go into our local shelter one day a week and make sure to stop in front of every dog and just acknowledge them. They all crave human connection and just talking to them brightens them up - you can see it.
I do the same but with my cat. “You’re a good girl Toffee”. She really is starting to respond to it😊
OMG! I'm 72 and have 2 just like him! If I was 10 years younger......❤
Sending lots of love and hugs to all shelter animals. Thanks Rocky Praying for all!
Dude there are no words for how grateful I am to you for what you do I'm in no position to help anything barely myself even but this absolutely gives me hope for humanity you give me hope for humanity brother
So very sorry for poor little baby! I have a Yorky and he gets really scared too! Pray that he gets to a loving home forever! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
I don't think people really understand what a fearful dog is all about. I have a dog like this, had him from puppy and he is still fearful. People will ask me what happened to him and I just say it's part of his personality. He's great with me but always fearful of strangers. Once he gets to know you he's fine, it just takes awhile. My dog could never be adopted on his own, but he's not going anywhere. I love him just the way he is.
I have a girl like yours too. Fearful and timid. I am her comfort and she never leaves me, and I won’t leave her either. Right now, I am recovering from hip surgery. She can’t sleep with me for two weeks. But she still never left my side. She had been staying right next to me on the couch all day while I sleep on the recliner chair.
They are not fearful from birth? It means you haven’t socialised them properly 🤦♀️
@@Curiouscatnap we adopted ours when she was 6 months old. She had other dogs and she was the only puppy in the family. Her owner was a high school girl. She got her from her bf back then. She carried her around with her. Not sure how the actual family life was. Her grade went down, they broke up, and the father told her that she needs to concentrate on her school work. So she was giving her away. She was crying a lot and she texted us here and there how puppy is doing for a while. The puppy, now she is 7 years old, but she gets scared of things, such as noise, people, other dogs easily. She was not isolated when she came to us. So it’s not that she was not socialized by us. She is friendly. She never does fear bites. She will come to you if you visit us but very low to the ground with tail wagging.
We have a cat like this too. People like to judge or "know better".
But i always was good with animals (and kids🙄)
Whenever i visited a (school) friend or family and they had a pet and were like "he/she doesn't like strangers" - the pet always came to me. I could pet them, cats liked my hands... it's awesome.
Our cats choosed us too. We didn't went out and said "we want his one" we let the cats decide. The cat who came to us and accepted both of us came with us
I had 2 cats like that, they were fine with me but mean as heck to everyone else ❤
😂😂. I get all teary eyed because you are trying so hard to get him to accept you then you say I’ll give you the whole treat, my house & my car and I had to pause the video to laugh and comment. You’re so amazing. Glad you moved that bed as soon as you possibly could. Much respect for you and all the love you have to give. ❤
Poor sweet lamb, to be so terrified. My heart breaks for him, he just wants to be safe.
How is that someone have the soul to abandon this little creature ! 😢😢
I have learned that little dogs need to be treated with respect. They are frequently manhandled especially by strangers.
Throwing the blanket down, scared him. Just some object, went, thud, in front of him...
@@littleme3597 same here, it size thing? from there point of view some just drop small mountain next to them
My chiweenie will not allow a stranger to touch her. If I hold her, you can pull her ears, hug her head, scratch her scritches. Reaching in the car to pet her is dangerous, for you and her. She is not protecting the car, or me. She is confined, and don’t want a stranger touching her. I absolutely HATE when I ask people not to reach in the open window, because my dog might bite them, and they tell me “animals love me” and do it anyway. She has never actually bitten anyone, but the threat is upsetting to her, to me, to the fool who wouldn’t listen to me. I pet every critter I come across, with owner and critter permission.
That magical moment when he takes the treat is so amazing, so heartwarming that he made that decision!
I thought I knew a lot about dogs, having shared my life with them for decades. No. Your ultra patient interaction with this darling little scruffy has taught me a lot.
OMG😢 I am Yorkie rescue mom, and this breaks my heart. Love to this little one.❤❤
We have a shelter dog, it took her about 2 months to really get used to us but OMG 5 years later she is the best dog I have ever had.
OMG Rocky's affirmations are like spiritual advice for anyone.
Poor little guy is so cute but he was so afraid of being hurt
I used to have a dog that looked just like Sylvie ...her name was Holly....a cheeky adorable little spoilt brat. She was a rescued dog ....like all the dogs I've owned.
Thank you Rocky for being so kind to all those doggies.
❤❤❤❤
Rocky, you are the BRAVE one. You are awesome and patient and kind. I am in happy tears!! Thank you for all you do ❤
Oh Rocky, this is so sweet. Such wisdom of how the little guy is getting out little by little. It's like when a toddler is learning to venture out a little. They come running back to touch base with the trusted adult and then venture out again.
Speaking from experience- Adopting a dog like this can be the best decision! If you have the patience to let them build their trust in you, you'll have a best friend for LIFE!
I hadn't even got to the 23:00 mark to hear Rocky explain this better than I could!
How sweet to see Ramses freely roaming around the pen❤
I got a dog as a foster, I now am his Mama, 8 months ago. He will let me pet him when he's in his bed. However, he won't come to me & I can't pet him away from his "spot." I just keep sitting with him each day & telling him he's a good boy & mama loves Willy.
Bless you❤❤❤
He will come around and surprise you one day! ❤❤❤
The wonderful patience and live you are giving will eventually break through!
Definitely neglected. So sad. They want to be loved but probably never had any.
Do you think they were abused? The first one especially seemed wary of hands..
How lucky Ramses is to have met you. I feel lucky to have met you.
People are not honest about giving up the pups because they are shamed even if they are doing the only thing they can. I have been shamed trying to get medical help for my dogs even though I feed them instead of myself regularly. I get dog food instead of people food and cry because I can’t get them vet care. I was working and had a great life when I got them. Never knew my life would crash and burn.
Hi, everything is gonna be okay, contact the shelters in your area, they all have programs for free food and medical care. Also Google, there are several national and global organizations that will help you as well.
For work, consider contacting staffing agencies nearby to get placed on a temp to perm assignment quickly. ❤

My dog was a stray. My daughter found her and brought her home. 8 years later she is thriving and sweet ❤
They all look so cute, it's heartbreaking how scared they are right now, they deserve all the cuddles in the world! ❤
Poor babies. All of them. Thank you all for taking them in and finding homes for them.
As a rescue yorkie owner his behaviour seems very typical - they are so sensitive and need to bond with their special human - they seem to mix fight and flight together- they have a lot of guarding, ratting (hunting) and protecting behaviour, so when they are afraid they don’t know what to do (they are very clever high functioning working dogs) needing enrichment and training to stimulate- but win one round and you have a dedicated partner for life - my girl is too attached to me so I adopted another ex breeder(imperial shih tzu- totally different non working dog breed, would happily be a lap dog) from rescue who was terrified (I adopted her because she was terrified and I knew I could help her , the breed was irrelevant ), for them to bond together; its working and they are both doing well and are very happy teaching each other to chill
Courage is moving forward even though your scared
You do such an amazing job with these dogs. Its beautiful to watch and hope they all get adopted. Wondweful work you do
I can understand the separation but I wish they could see each other like across the isle. Just a familiar face. I pray they all get adopted. They're so cute.

❤His brother that's all black with the white goatee reminds me of a little Gremlin!! They are all adorable gifts from God!! 😇🕊️💗🙏
A wise Vet once told me that we don't always get the dog we want but we always get the dog we need. He believed each dog had something to teach us.
Adorable. Small dogs must feel so vulnerable.
No, they don’t know they are small. Best wishes from Sweden ❤
You are growing coffee in America! God bless you what a miracle 🌿
Get so upset that people don't understand that a dog will act differently in shelters than a house environment.
"Love works!" Yes, it does, Rocky, and thank you for proving that every day. :)
God bless this man for his humanity.
The positive affirmations really helped perk him up 🥰
It takes so much patience with these guys but so worth it! ❤❤❤

My heart breaks for these separated babies. No wonder they are so fearful. I pray they find their furever homes soon with just the right family. I’m across the Atlantic, or I would be there in a heartbeat! 💚☘️🇮🇪
Bravery is not the absence of fear. Bravery is one's ability to evaluate a situation in a level-headed way despite one's fear.
that poor lil pup needs cuddles desperately!

What a sweet sweet pup! They are all sweet but this little guy. I hope he finds his forever loving home! Once he is nutured he will be adorable for a family. Thank You for sharing Rocky. I hope the other little guys find their forevery home too they are really gorgeous pups.
Grew up with a Scottish Cairn Terrier, his parents were working dogs used for digging out fox holes, always ready to fight the fox or a shadow, super confident. Very intelligent and very unforgiving...his drive to dig, hunt, bite, kill was so strong, and not confined to foxes😬... ONLY ONE person could handle, kiss & hug him.... a Downs Syndrome child, he just melted for her...the bond between them would make a rock cry. He was a very 'proud' dog, unbelievable as it is, he allowed that child to hold, lift, to dress him up, comb his hair and tie a bonnet onto him - not a murmur - his 'love' for her glowed from his eyes 💘💝❤💞💕, Got to respect a working dog, especially one in an Easter bonnet.
They can see ultra violet light maybe people really do have auras that dogs can see but we can’t. Maybe Down’s syndrome people have beautiful auras & dogs know they have perfect love. The people I have known who had Down’s were def pure hearted.
Everything is possible, though DS folks have exactly the same ups and downs as neurotypicals, albeit for reasons we need to delve into. I see DS are more atune to nature, when raised in a calm & loving environment, as we all were once. ❤. @@ArnoldZiffle-jw2mv
😊
Was this amazing child yours?
No, we all lived on the same small street, the Cairn 'owned' it. Everyone knew to keep their hands off him. He'd probably be labelled as a dangerous dog now . When his elderly owner passed away, he lived between folks houses...sharing himself between us 😆 He went to the DS child just after his breakfast and stayed till noon. Two very special characters, he definitely helped with speech therapy with all the stories the child told him from an upside-down book (learnt rote 😂)

« Fear is a reaction but true bravery is a choice »
Fear is genetic correction!!! And brave it's also genetic...!!
I'm not sure if genetics has anything to do with it. The way I see it, it is more likely that this little dog was subjected to some harsh abuse by former owners. Maybe he came from a hording/breeding situation and was locked in a cage most of his life.
@@mc2307 I was just quoting a song 😉

Your an amazing person
The person who bought these 5 dogs to the shelter, is their Owner. 😠
If a stranger tried to pick them up they would have gone crazy from fear...
I believe that is true
My top theory is that they were the children of the recently deceased owner.

Your affirmations made the change, its was wonderful to watch. They don't understand the language but damn they sure get the intentions behind it.
Rocky, my dog always has a horrible time every 4th of July with all the fireworks going off. But this year I used your “sitting with dogs” technique and it was amazing how well that went! When the fireworks started I started gradually feeding her tiny bits of cheese, that she loves. After a while she was so focused on when she was going to get that next tiny bite of cheese that it was like the fireworks were not even happening! Even later in the night when neighbors started their own fireworks, she didn’t freak out!
Thank you for taking time with this precious, little, terrified guy who now is taking treats out of your hand. AMAZING!❤
