- In this video i will be showing you how to fix a wired xbox 360 controller for pc. By this I mean, a 360 controller for pc that won't work on a game such as Dark Souls or any other game for that matter.
- This fix should work, but if it doesn't leave a comment on your error and ill get back to you.

Windows 10 - This worked for me! Thank you so much, my controller was bugging out and certain buttons were wrong. For example, my A button also pressed B, and my left and right stick buttons were also hitting Select and Start.

does it have to be a fully wired one am windows 10 wireless pad but using the usb cable sees the pad but nothing works
Disabling both worked for me. My Logitech 3d Pro, Shield and XBox One controllers where recognized by windows 10 and testings worked flawlessly, but did not work in-game in any game or emulator. This tip fixed it. Thank you.
Thanks for the useful video, sorted out my issue which was the 3dconnexion joystick with the xbox 360 controller causing the problem. Disabling the 3dconnection as an HID game controller sorted it!

Thanks man, it solved my problem!! The second controller kept blinking, so i changed the charge from one to the other, synchronided them, and changed again, problem solved :D

my xbox 360 wired controller totally doesnt works, is not recognised anywhere, and doesnt event appear has an "unknown device". when i plugged in on my laptop (windows 7) theres simply that little green light on the xbox controler for a light speed second.and... thats it. i've try to install suppress reinstall the drivers, but long has my controller aint recognised, i cant go any further...would be glad to get some help thanks

I am trying to use my 360 controller (wired) on some Steam games, and I followed exactly what you did for my Windows 7, but the controller is still not functioning. The driver is reading the controller and the controller itself has the P1 green light on, yet the buttons are not working. The controller works fine on my home console so I do not know what is wrong. This is pretty frustrating Brandon, what should I do?

windows 10 users:
go to the device manager -> right click for properties on xbox game controller device or whatever (disable the controller first) -> update driver -> choose manually -> choose the 2009 one, not the new one from 4/2018 -> uninstall the driver *A BOX WILL COME UP THAT YOU CHECK TO UNINSTALL DRIVER IMPORTANT* --> it will reinstall the old driver, and then the new driver as soon as you plug the controller back in.
for some reason when you uninstall the new driver it doesn't give you that box to actually uninstall it, i believe it just "ejects the controller" from being loaded and ready to use, like a flash drive, but it doesn't uninstall the driver with the new one for some reason.... you can't just uninstall the system file either, as apparently it's part of a greater system file for windows. for me personally, this was a wired official xbox 360 remote

Yo bro, i watched tons of videos about my problem about my xbox 360 wired controller but still it didnt fixed it. This controller is working months ago but recently i tried to plug in my controller and it says device not recognized. Hey, this worked for a day or two, but it's not connecting again, and HID compliant Game Controller isn't showing up in device manager, since I already disabled it. Is there a way I can re-enable and disable it again so my guitar will work again?
So I disabled the HID like you said, got DmC to work. All other games (Saints Row IV, Skullgirls) can't find the controller anywhere. Ideas?
[SOLVED] In the Device Manager window, locate your USB gaming controllers (not in xbox perepheral. Its under Universal Serial Bus > ....3.0) and right click over them. Select Properties.
Finally, in the Properties window, switch to Power Management tab and uncheck the option Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Click OK.
Close Device Manager.

You might have to download the Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller Driver.

Why are all the player 2 controllers issues listed only for xbox controllers? I have a steel series pc controller that has the same issue yet I can't find one problem with it.
was able to move from 3 to 2 now waiting for that moment that it turns 1 ... lol

Nothing is working for me. My controller keeps disconnecting from whatever port I plug it in and then reconnects and switches to 2nd player. I have no other devices conntected other then my mouse and keyboard. HALP
this is maybe late in the party but my controller simply just identified as "unknown device" and everytime I uninstall it's drivers and plug it back again my PC doesn't recognize it and the drivers doesn't install all it says it was installed(the drivers) unsucessfully it doesn't happen before since I merely plug in and out before have it fixed at a local shop because of the sticks are starting to wear out

Hi! My problem is that my xbox 360 wired controller always change to player 2 when I played rocket league. I'm supposed to play using player 1 but keeps changing to player 2 everytime I play rocket league. Does anyone can help me identify the problem of my controller? I've tried uninstalling the device in Device Manager and it will tell me to restart my computer. It's a bullocks to keep restarting my computer all the time when I play rocket league. And sometimes when I'm in the middle of the match my controller messed up again. :( It would be helpful if anyone could help me out. Thank you!

hi. i"m using a wireless 360 controller have it plugged in and got a noticeification clicked on says xbox 360 wireless controller via play and charge cable. the cable is glowing red right now but it has glowed green to but it just won"t damn sync wtf.
For me, it says that my wireless receiver is working properly after I updated the drivers for it and everything, but my problem is that when I physically try to click the sync buttons on the receiver and Xbox 360 controller, the controller just keeps searching for the receiver. If the receiver has the drivers updated and says that it's working on my computer, then what gives? Can anyone help?

Hey so im having this issue where i put my xbox 360 controller into my pc and i downloaded a driver that i was supposed to. My computer seems to accept the driver and it sees the controller there, but the controller wont ever stop blinking, and games dont recognize it as connected. I also dont have the HID- Controller part in my Devices. PLZ help, thanks
+Lucas Medon I am having the same problem. At first the light would stay on player 1, but wouldn'tdo anything. I realised it was still synched to my xbox 360 even though it was wired to my pc. I unplugged my xbox 360, but now my controller just endlessly blink. Help!
+Guillaume Beaudry so I found out that if you have a wireless rechargable controller, even if it has a wire connected, it is not enough to be considered "wired." The only way this will seamlessly work is if you are one of the few people to still have an old white permanently wired controller. There is a driver to dl on your pc and it should work. Any other controller wireless or wireless with a charging wire must be run through an adapter which you can purchase for like 15 bucks and then a slightly different driver. In short unless you have an old wired controller it will never work without purchasing an adapter. Or say the 59.99 steam controller. Very dissapointing.

idk, i have the same problem, but after i plugged my joystick to a phone charger 2 and 3 times, my joystick finally work, try it out not a srcasm :)

I can't even get my controller to work at all. I've tried everything possible, installing drivers, looking up tutorials, and it reads the controller just fine but it just flashes and I can't do anything with it. I have no idea wtf is wrong with it.

i cant get mine to work at all, as soon as i plug my controller into the USB port it will flash once & thats it. Also i dont have the compliant game controller tab to click. Any ideas?

I tried this and unfortunately it didn't work for me.
I recently got myself an Xbox controller for PC so I could play games on steam a little easier but I've run into a problem. It seems that whenever I go to do an action (In the case of Sonic Adventures DX attacking and enemy, or in the case of Batman Arkham Asylum ziplining up to a ledge, to name a couple of examples) the game will totally freeze and I have to Task manager out of the game. But even then it still leaves me with a black box covering most of my screen so I have to restart my computer.
On closer inspection, when this happens and I un-plug the controller the game will un-freeze and play as normal. And so far this has happened on every game that has controller support on my Steam library.
Could anyone help me? What could be causing this? As far as I know the software for it is all up to date so no issues there.

My controller was literally just working yesterday, and now today i go to plug it in and the 4 spots in the center light up once and then nothing. I cant use my controller I am on windows 10 and my controller is an afterglow is flashes once when plugged in then nothing the controller just doesnt work. Could really use some help becuase like i said it was just working now it just stopped

I have a wired xbox 360 controller. It worked with no issues for the longest time recently it started showing the player 1 and 4 lights at the same time. If I try a game the buttons work but the sticks don't. I have deleted and re-downloaded the drivers but nothing. It shows that the controller is hooked up and working fine but it really isn't. Do you know any fixes for this?

I tried using it 4 Visual Boy Advance it don't work. The computer recognizes the XBOX 360 Controller and successfully install when i reinstall it. Still, it doesn't work. I input controller nothing didn't work i even move the stick.

Few questions, when you say 'won't turn on' you mean when you plug it into the computer it won't turn on or when its plugged into the xbox it wont turn on?
If it wont turn on when its plugged into the computer, well is it a wireless controller that you are hooking up via charging cable? If so it doesn't work, you need an actuall wired controller for it too work.

My 360 controller keeps thinking its second player when I want it to be first do you know how to fix that?
I've been searching for a solution and the best one I found is to sign out (they say restart buy sign out works just fine) unplug your controller plug it back THEN sign in. I tried all other methods online and none worked for me.

@@haaamthepsycho1662 sometimes that happens to me, I've learnt to use the task manager to end a process called device association framework. sometimes that solves the issue
