Nissan S13 Drifting. 240SX Perfect drift car? (Silvia, 180SX, 200SX)

- The Nissan S13 is a front engine, rear-wheel-drive (RWD), sports car that was manufactured and marketed by Nissan from 1989 to 1998. In Japan, the S13 had two versions with differences in the exterior. The Nissan 180SX was the hatchback model and used pop-up headlights. The Silvia was the coupe model and used fixed headlights. In North America this car was sold as the Nissan 240SX and 200SX in other parts of the world.
Various engines have been used in different markets and models, but the most popular for drifting is the SR20DET turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This 2.0-liter turbocharged engine produced 200 hp but was capable of 300 hp with just a few tweaks. In the US, the S13 received a 2.4 NA engine from factory.
Weighing around 2,650 lbs (1,200 kg), they are quite light. The S13's 55:45 weight distribution definitely helps keep it balanced around corners. The S13s are easy to control and handle well thanks to independent suspension (MacPherson struts front and multi-link rear suspension). S13's wheelbase looks like the perfect one for drift; short enough to allow easy direction change and long enough to keep the vehicle stable while drifting. Parts are plentiful. Replacement standard parts and aftermarket tuning parts are very popular, making them easy to come by and well-priced. And the S13 hatchback has a trunk capacity perfect for drifters, you can fit plenty of wheels and tools to hit the track. The S-chassis is popular in motorsports, especially the S13 through S15 vehicles. In drifting, the car has been very successful in most drift championships, having won several D1 Grand Prix and Formula Drift championships with different drivers. It is no wonder why they have become so popular in drifting. Brian Cooper's 240SX from NFS Pro Street is what made me really fall in love with the model. This was THE Nissan sports-car to own prior to the 350Z that came out years later. Definitely a Japanese gem and one my favourite JDM cars of all time.

After owning both a s13 and s14 for a few years.. I personally think the s14 is overall the better choice of the two. My fav. Car is a s13 couple though, but a lowered s14 with a nice kit and wheels just looks so damn good! 😭👍🏻

@@JimMcBeam Both. The s14 also has a stiffer unibody than the s13 does. If I’m not mistaken I think the s14 is only like 200-300 pounds heavier than the s13 is depending on the model.

Stock vs stock the s13 looks a lot better.
The kooky looks the better of the two s14's imo but the silvia s13 is the best looking.
good chassis but not without issues - front sump engines, rear steering rack and floor to me modified for lhd tall people also engine swap is a must
