If you sand off the shine first, you should be able to paint over with acrylic paint and seal it in. Maybe put a coat of gesso down first to help it stick better. It's like paint primer for acrylic. You could also use Angelus or angels? I can't remember the correct name. But it's leather paint and works good for all kinds of projects. Would probably stick. Little pricier though

Paint over the white out with nail polish. The white will be a good base for red nail polish
