Today, I’m going to be solving a $40,000 Puzzle. This is a unique, one of a kind, hand crafted puzzle designed and crafted by Craig Thibodeau and Robert Yarger (stickman). This design took about a year and a half from conception to completion. Made of macore, wenge and brass. The goal, is to retrieve the Holy Grail!

This puzzle is ENTIRELY Mechanical! ZERO Electronics!! O_O
It was amazing! Keep up the great work!
It's a 4 foot fine watch
It really was amazing.

So i guess spin move is our of the question
I can see it now. 10 years down the road: Chris Ramsay's museum of puzzles.
This one is pretty enough to display.
Natsu is a menace
That would be amazing
So accurate
"That belongs in a museum!"
These intros are on another level, basically small films at this point
he puts way too much work in these intros
Right though
So fax they are super cool
I absolutely love these intros
Its too long and dramatic this time
That was so cool how the grail retracts and then emerges when the puzzle was solved… just like an Indiana Jones movie! However, the clue, as I saw another comment, should’ve been integrated somehow or not even mentioned at all. It wasn’t that hard of a part of the puzzle to solve. If you have a table that rotates, of course you will rotate it until something happens. Other than that, this puzzle was crazy!
This puzzle is worth 40k. winding it more than 90 before bringing it back can probably damage the mechanics. On the other hand, if its worth 40k, he could have made it work so that its a damage-proof puzzle basically.
Also, as in Indiana Jones, this should have been the false Grail.
Better production quality than most Netflix shows, no cap.
He is wearing a cap.
This guy just gave a 5 minute master class on "Epic Adventure Movie Shots" 😂
Then proceeded to Nicholas Cage his way to crack this puzzle...
Freaking legend.

While looking just like Tom Hardy!!
I absolutely loved this solve dude! I AM a little disappointed he just GAVE you the ''4 x 90 degree'' hint instead of integrating a message in the puzzle but still, thoroughly entertained. IM COMING OVER TO PLAY WITH THIS!!!
I see you're preparing yourself for the next puzzle battle.
I bet it would still have worked with 1 x 90 degree, but would've caused it to not raise completely. Would just be a visual thing, not a real hint.
Eric (spell it right, please) Leclerc, You had to find The One Thing that disrupted my thoughts...integrate the clue into the puzzle...Brilliant call, I'll let Chris kick you in the balls himself, but it was a Brilliant call...you deserve that swift one, for your quick wit. Badge of Honor, Sir. 😂🐰🎩❤👍✌👏
Definitely agree it would have been amazing to have it integrated in some way.
You need to be training for the fight with Alex. Don't let Team Eric down.
I had to stop half way through that intro to go grab popcorn and a drink🍻 so awesome!
The cinematography in this video is astounding for something that isn’t intended to be a short film or a cinematic piece. You are an incredible filmmaker. Even down to the sound engineering. As a filmmaker and self-director I appreciate this video as a work of art😂
I know everyone is talking about the $40,000 puzzle but mad respect for the intro! Absolutely impressive
Unironically a better Indy movie than actual modern Indy movies

I feel the same way! I mean the puzzle was cool but I was shocked at the quality of the intro as well! I mean wow! For a CZcamsr to Come up with and produce such a good quality intro??? Wow!! I mean the millions Hollywood has and this CZcams channel can slap together something of comparable quality in some caves near Ottawa? Nice job Chris. And I gotta ask what does the FFTB stand for on Chris’s hand? Coz when I google it I get ‘five foot tall brunette’ and I’m thinking there has to be a deeper meaning?
Chris: **puts this puzzle with holy grail as display in his home*
Person who came to visit: **removes the glass*

Must be a hassle to do every step just to get the damn grail to come out again. Imagine putting your phone in there lol. It honestly be a good place to store it

It was more for the materials.
Yeah it felt less like a puzzle and more like pushing and pulling random things until something happened

I absolutely love the effort Chris puts in all his videos.
Imagine this in your living room. You meet a guest, went to pour some tea. And a friend, in a fit of curiosity, removes the dome from the Grail, and that one is like "Wooooop". Then you come back, and there a friend stands with a glass dome in his hands, his eyes are like "O ___ O" and you are like "Where is the Grail? .."
*That's why I want this table.....*
T-that's cruel ....but also funny, sir! (≧▽≦)
I can see the guest is like " (༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ) I only picking up the dome....."
@@adamdamiri4823 You follow up by kicking them out, later they break back in a drunken rage and chucks the puzzle into furniture several times, damaging several mechanisms permanently and making it unsolvable; you come back and see the mess, how do you react?
Alternative idea: You go and meet your guest in your home for tea. You mention the priceless gold chalice you keep in your home as decor, it is sitting in the room your guest is waiting in. You leave the room only to come back tealess and say youve sadly run out of tea bags but offer them instead a drink of top notch wine for the trouble. The guest declines until you sweeten the deal by offering to let them drink from your chalice. The guest, intrigued and mesmerized by the idea of drinking out of the chalice agrees as it would make a great story to brag about in the future. You tell them to lift the glass to fetch the chalice, the chalice falls. You cry out in hysterics pretending not to know the table did that. The guest is now stunned and confused and you have sucessfully upset the guest for trying to touch your chalice.
@@bensoncheung2801 the mental image of watching the puzzle being lifted completely over his head and then driven into the ground and splintering to pieces has me crying😂😂😂
Apparently tequila was the drink of choice, and makes him aggressive & belligerent.
Dude kicks thru the pile of wood scraps, pulls the pimp cup out of the pile of splintered wood, dusts it off, sets it on the coffee table, turns and walks out silently😂☠😂☠😂
This puzzle, as always, is AMAZING! But honestly, for 40,000 dollars, I was expecting a larger one, because it requiered "just" a few steps to be solved. But I love it!
I think a lot of the money must have gone into the craftmamship
If not larger than at least more complicated. Should have taken him a month to solve, not less than an hour.
I will be completely honest, not only are these puzzles amazing, but you hands down have the best editing anywhere on youtube. I never comment really on anyone's videos, but with yours I couldn't stay quiet. Amazing Job.
This is actually one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
I don't even know how you come up with these puzzles.
He didn't come up with it, other people build them and he solves them
I was going to watch this on my phone during my lunch break, but seeing the quality of this intro, I knew I had to wait until I got home and put this on my big TV. These intros keep getting more and more elaborate and the production quality keeps getting better and I love it! You should start a short films channel!

To know that this is handmade by a craftsman with all those tricks and moving parts but no power needed is amazing.
Everything about this video is just incredible. The intro cinematics, the presentation and build up of anticipation for the solve, and the amazing craftsmanship of the puzzle. I dont comment often at all on CZcams but man.. I'm astounded

This is amazing!!! Just stumbled upon your channel and I'm loving it! I've always loved mysteries and puzzles ❤
That feature to let you pre-load the mechanism to make the grail be able to appear again is a great idea! Nearly as great as your face when it came up. :)
Since it disappeared initially, I was curious how to "charge" the puzzle with some energy to bring it back.
If you put back the lid and lift it after it came up, will it immediately disappear again or do you need to unload the mechanism with some additional steps before you can restart?
Great puzzle and video!
Thanks! I’ll discuss the inner mechanics on the next one! :)

@@michaelschulz2123 YES! 100%!!!! I love these guys, how can that be done? It would have to be a really big puzzle :D
I think there is a connecting gear, that when you lift the lid, it will disconnect the gear and make it fall down. When you solve it you lock the gear in and charge the spring to pull it up. So probably to reset it you need to put the lid on and unlock the gear again.

@ꕥ 𝚁𝚘𝚜𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚎 ꕥ same
That's how he solves almost all of these puzzles is he looks for the parts that want to move and focuses on figuring out how to actually make that happen. THEREFORE if I was making these puzzles, I would integrate all sorts of red herrings into the puzzle. Parts that wiggle but otherwise do nothing just to throw him off. I would maybe even try to have parts that ARE supposed to move but don't give the same wiggle "tells", but that might be physically impossible.
amazing, great, well-done production value! cool puzzle!!!
I absolutely loved that intro, it was amazing, and I was really surprised to find it was shot right by my home. Super cool puzzle, I really like how it looks, it's super pretty. It's crazy how you just start probing and find all these things that move, come off and push in. I know if it were me I would look at it for about 5 minutes then get really frustrated and give up. The sheer difficulty of finding all the pieces and solving them amazes me that someone could build such a masterpiece of a puzzle, much less solve one. I recently found your videos and each and everyone leaves me stunned. It's great to see another Canadian content creator, especially one that does stuff I'm really interested in. Thank you for making videos, I am always awe struck or laughing while watching and they always make my day.

this puzzle is definitely more work of art than puzzle, its truly an amazing puzzle but i feel kind of like for that kind of money it would have been nicer to see it last more than 10 mins for something that big and complex and expensive. great job on the puzzle to the creators and hope no one takes this as hate, i have nothing but love and respect for Chris and his vision for things.
100% agree, not hating on it, but for $40,000 I was expecting something more complex. But it is a beautiful puzzle.
video is edited. Took more than 10 min. Also, it is a 1 off puzzle. And its clear that the experience of the puzzle is what they spent the time on, not complexity. No other puzzle on earth has that level of WOW. You're severely undervaluing the two creators' time if you think that its 'too simple'. 20k in design adn 20k in craftsmanship is only 2-3 months of time for each assuming a reasonable salary, pre-tax, etc to make something that will only make them profit once. $40K a simple little Hanayama puzzle probably costs a similar anmount in R&D and purcchasing machining components and ordering materials but they get to sell thousands and thousands and make way more profit.
@@eurly93 of course its edited but if you know his videos he shows most of the solving of the puzzle. This was definitely a very very fast solve for a 40k puzzle. Way to easy.

The production value of this video is nuts! Thanks a lot for the hard work! It’s much appreciated!
It's absolutely beautiful! However, would have enjoyed the solve more if the hint was incorperated into the work of art. Maybe etched into the inside of the brass pieces that are removed; either by doing one line in a longer riddle or coded message on each piece (as it is the holy grail), or simply having etched: '⊾' and 'x4'. I love the simplicity of the expensive wood with the brass under the holy grail that I personally wouldn't have wished them to ruin the outside finish with some carved message on a panel (unless it was beautifully done & inlayed with brass;P). Still a stunning piece of work none the less! I'm so excited to see how they managed that without electronics, I'm over the moon impressed!
