I suffer from it, I'd like it to have people know that it's a thing that exists instead of being pushed to the side and just called someone being awkward. I'm a socially awkward person with social anxiety so it's a bad mix, but it's too completely different things. Please please please talk about it as it is.
I mean, to be honest the show never really says that Connor *has* an illness. Therefore, the interviewers really don't want go out and say that he has anxiety/depression. As you watch the show you learn to understand that Connor does most likely suffer from a mental (or more, I've read about people saying they have reason to believe he has other, less common disorders) illness. Straight up saying he deals with such things would make the story lose the beginning charm of figuring out Connor as someone who went to school with him would. I understand that maybe this description did not please you, but I believe that there is no simpler way to describe the show without spoiling much of it. Sorry for copying and pasting

"super awkward" NO. When people say that others with social anxiety are just extremely awkward people that's unacceptable. You're drowning out the fact that these people has a diagnosed mental illness and just slightly changing what is true, just like people in the media. When people say "super awkward" instead of "social anxiety" I just get very ticked off because I am very anxious and I get anxiety in social situations where the outcome isn't planned.

As soon as I hit the floor, I pulled my pants over my tighty whities, calmly walk to my desk, put my head down, and pretend to sleep for the rest of class. Vowing to never speak of it again.

As someone with severe anxiety, you can also be awkward. Evan, was both. He wasn't just a functioning person with anxiety, he was also super weird. Like being obsessed with Zoe. Anxiety is definitely not the reason he watched her close enough to point out every little habit she had.
Ok mine was kinda like Ben’s but basically in ninth grade drama my teacher loved a certain sports team and when they lost he would get really sad a depressed. So on a Monday after they had lost he was not happy and I’m really empathetic and I like to make people feel better so I got up to give him a hug and well..... it was a poor school so he had his projector set on top of an empty desk and all the wires were leading to his desk and as I went to give him a hug I tripped on the wires, the projector went crashing to the floor but I was still moving forward and I’m not the smallest person in the world so I crashed into my teach who was very lanky and like 120 lbs on a good day and he had to catch me and we almost fell and I was just absolutely mortified like I wanted God to just strike me dead with a bolt of lightening and it wasn’t like a few people who saw like every single person in the class was watching me. Like 30 people. I was just absolutely mortified. Although I guess it’s not as bad and being naked 😂😂
