I know that it is hard but if you can try to pick up japanese, there's a lot of nuances that could not be translated by clippers.
Gotta love the glimpse of Lui in here. She's the true leader of their generation. And her skill at roasting others is unrivaled. And she is Marine's fan, so of course she would rat out Laplus to Marine. I feel like Nagzz is going to like her, since she's also a fellow Calli fan.
This is just a great Gen all around. Laplus, Lui, and Chloe are all just great. But Koyori is probably one of my favorite JP girls (behind the great Dogo and eldritch horror). And although Iroha is not clipped much, her clips are always great.
I seem to have a knack lately for stumbling upon the livestreams where he does the live discovers lately. Was there for Fauna, Sana, AND about 1/2 of Laplus.
Yamada came just after YMD did in her first stream. The characters YMD are the first letter of each kana Yamada is written with: Ya や Ma ま Da だ.
Basically: If you could know the starting position and momentum of every particle in the universe, you could then trace it's path backward, and predict it's trajectory forward, and thus would know both the past and the future of the universe. Obviously, this task is impossible, and would require an absurd amount of calculation, not to mention an infinite amount of time to perform theses calculations. So the "being" capable of observing all of these calculations would be "Laplace's demon." It's an idea of determinism, and entails that "free will" is only an illusion, as--with everything being predetermined--every outcome, and decision was destined to happen as soon as the big bang occurred.
I know very little about La+. But her name alone immediately made me interested when she debuted.

A little bit of explanation about Laplace's Demon:
Laplace thought about a hypothetical being who knows the position of every single atom in the universe and the forces acting upon them. A being with that knowledge could technically calculate where every single atom would go as time goes on, effectively knowing every single thing that will happen in the future until the end of the universe.
If you know every single thing that will happen in the future, then everything is deterministic. Free will doesn't mean anything if every single thing in the future is calculable. And it is widely believed that God gave his creations free will. Therefore, the hypothetical being that Laplace thought about should be the opposite of God. Thus, it was called Laplace's Demon.
Laplace then had a bit of a Frankenstein situation in pop culture where his name is often associated with demons even though Laplace is just a scholar and Laplace's Demon is a concept he came up with. Kinda like how Frankenstein is a mad scientist and Frankenstein's Monster is his creation.

Thing is, Calli speaks Japanese really well, but can't really do "Janglish" very well. GURA, Gura can actually understand Miko EREET ENGREESU, and is over there smugly trying not to laugh while Calli suffers through this misunderstanding.
Also in case no one heard, Laplus was wanting to rap Calli and be in charge, as well as outpun Ina and be in charge. Her character is supposed to be super boorish but behind the scenes they said she's literally the most polite and adorable girl (aside from Ayame, who just plays herself).
Really loved this series Nagzz, you guys are great fun to watch falling down the rabbit hole.

My favourite thing about La+ is that she is effectively Haachama’s counter. She absolutely refuses to take Haachama’s shit and will call her out over literally anything. It’s honestly hilarious. The Unstoppable Force of Haachama met the Immovable Object of Darknesss and La+ usually comes out on top, even destroying Haachama in a rap battle on her first attempt at rap ever with Anser. Which had the W removed because La+ took it

Ah man, this was filmed just before Laplus had her 3D debut... In any case, this was a good discovery video.
Kinda hoped to see a clip from that collab with Towa where TMT started her domination of HoloX in Clubhouse Games.
La+'s chat is awesome. It's the only one I know that can maintain an unbroken wall of 草 or www for more than a second. Speaking of "Earth", she was made a playable character (along with Pekora, Ina, and Kiara) in Valkyrie Connect and her element was earth instead of dark. Yeah, the devs were definitely memeing since there were a lot incorporated into their game characters.

Gonna be honest: You jumped the gun on Gen 6. Since Iroha got a 3D, it means the rest are going to follow shortly. Also it feels REALLY early for Gen 6

Not early at all to be fair,the requirement for 3d is surpassing 50k subs,half a year gap is pretty long since they got that number,If u take earlier gen as comparison they just took so long to get the number
If what u mean they skip the entire Id and en segment,if we actually wait them to get 3d it just not possible,Japan seems already open for travel but en1 and id1 still don't get proper debut most likely that will never happen for the next gen of their branch too

Yes 5-7 months, so it's not too early but they really deserve it at the moment
Don't just compare to the EN cuz the condition of JP and EN is not the same
EN has a lot more issue about why they can't get their 3D earlier
I feel be for Sora and the rest in the early JP Gens that have seemingly been ignored or forgotten. Sora is the daisenpai of Hololive and hasn't gotten a Discovers after a year and a half.
I feel there's so much missing in this overview, like her passion and knowledge of art, her rap battle with Haachama, her unique choice of aesthetics in her intro and music videos, her lore connection with Kovalskia, her interactions with the rest of HoloX, her friendship with Shion, and more.
La+ is a fantastic addition to the Holo roster.

I was there for Holo x debuts. they are a extremely fun generation
I don't really know much about HoloX or Gen 6 since..well..12 hour work shifts make you lose every sense of time.
I will say. I love Laplus's background music. It's amazing. And after listening to all of HoloX's music and watching mainly clips of each member. I've noticed that they are all extremely talented yet unique to themselves in a good way. It feels so different watching each member as there own unique talent rather than as a group of talents. Best way I can describe it is like watching those boy bands like NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, or today's scene like BTS. You see them as a group of individual talents working together to make something like when I watch the majority of Hololive talents. Yet with HoloX, it's like One Direction in a way. It's a group of unique talents that were formed into a group and work well as a group of talents as well.

I know it's a strange description, but it definitely feels different and I think it's in part a combination of Vtubers becoming more mainstream. And not only is it the fact that Hololive and Nijisanji are international in a sense. But it's the large number of indie Vtubers as well that have shot up or formed a group like VShojo. Along with the community scene from clippers and artists becoming bigger themselves. I'd say right now there is definitely a golden age for Vtubing right now. However, I'm just kinda scared to see what comes after or in the definite future from what has happened within the community with certain clippers and sadly with certain Vtubers who are now instantly on there own(looking at Hololive here). And seeing the direction it's going along with the large convention/concert Hololive held a while back. I just worry that this will become more like a machine and less an amazing creative outlet like everything is. Cause even CZcams was just a site where you could just post a video or project. And now it's a gigantic site with thousands of videos, shorts, and posts where community strikes against content creators reigns.
Just a little worried is all cause I really like watching these amazing talents like Laplus and her music is fantastic.

I'm a bit sad that Nagzz didn't get shown the "WiFi-kun! Ganbatte~!!" clip, as that's my favorite clip from La+, but maybe it'll appear on stream one day..
Kiara's interview streams, Calli's English lesson streams & Iofi's collabs (both in & outside hololive) have really helped build bridges!
La+ is wonderful, I hope there comes a day where she can collab with Bae, Gura & Kobo!!

YMD is pronounced as YaMaDa when you sound it out in jp.

Laplus is quite a surprisingly good singer, and maybe even a lyrical monster. Her first cover "Kamipoina" really highlights this, and I always felt the image Laplus used in the cover video represents her in an unleashed form.
Also, I love Laplus because it reminds me of a certain cult leader character in Danganronpa. Her intro artstyle just screams where the artist drew the inspiration from, plus the similarities in her lore.
On top of all these, there are also countless clips that show how good and genuine of a person she is. She really is amazing.

Regarding YMD turning into Yamada, it is not uncommon for Japanese names to be initialized with the first letter of each syllable. Ones that come to mind are Tanaka Mamimi from Idolm@ster being MMM and Hololive's own Fubuki often writing her name as FBK. This is that process in reverse, turning initials into a name, and an ironic one at that as Yamada uses the kanji for mountain when La+ is currently the smallest member of Hololive, being even smaller than Gura and firmly in Calli's YEETing parameters.
I will forever name Laplus as the first and only Vtuber where almost every clipper spells her last name wrong (They spell it Darkness, not Darknesss)

Aside from all the joke meaning of YMD, I believe chat also joked that she looked like the Kanji for Mountain, which is 山 (read as やま or yama), and だ(da) is the plain or casual form of desu(is, ot state of being)
So Yamada is also a joke on "it's a mountain", 山だ, "it's 山", hence, yama da
Also, HoloX, is horokusu, where roku means 6. It's kind of a pun I guess.

HoloX's official pronunciation makes sense if you think about it from the Japanese point of view. It's a pun using "roku", the Japanese character for the number 6, which makes sense considering this is the 6th generation of HoloJP. In Japanese, it would be pronounced "Ho-roku-su", or, "Holǝx".

and IDK if this gets brought up in the video, but the names of many hololive members have a kind of (not very) hidden meaning, and La+ is no exception. she is named after a 19th century publication on casual determinism. Pierre-Simon Laplace came up with the idea of a hypothetical being, a being that at any given time, knows the exact location and energy of every particle in the universe, and concluded that if you knew these values, you could figure out how all of these particles would interact in the future, and how they had interacted in the past. essentially if you knew the location and direction of everything in the universe, you would be omnipotent, and know everything that was, or would, go on in the universe. He nicknamed this being "laplace's (La+) demon. and as we know of La+'s sealed powers and knowledge, it can be pretty well assumed that la+ has had her powers sealed because her abilities are quite powerful.

the premise comes from the belief that there are no random incidents, if you were to know every and each of the required variables then you could predict the outcome of an event, for example if you were able to know enough data of rolling a dice you can predict the outcome 100% of the time, but this is pretty much impossible, hence here comes the Laplace's demon role
Imagine an entity that is able to recognize every existing variable of the universe, then this entity with enough power can predict the future with 100% success rate, this entity has to be a Demon of some sort to be able to do that, but its just a figure speech to understand the possibility that there are no random events in the universe, so everything is a pre destined course of events from start to finish
