Try turning on smooth fps in performance settings, it stable-ly lowers your fps so you can record at higher fps (since TOO much fps overloads your encoder

Tip: If you uncap fps and your obs recording dies, you need to run obs as administrator. When I first started recording in 240 fps my recordings would always lag. Also disable video preview in obs. That should fix it :)

The reason it kills your recording when you leave the FPS uncapped is because your GPU is rendering all ~2000 frames instead of the usual 255, and until you get like a 300hz monitor there's no reason for it to be any higher. Make sure you never have a bottle-necking issue with ram (in case you want to record, edit and play MC all at the same time or something like that) since that's the only thing I can think of that would slow your computer down besides storage.
i have a 1650 and i can record with uncapped fps
i have like 700 fps in bridge and its fine

i think fps boosters work by allocating more computer recourses to the game, so the reason your recording dies when you dont cap the fps is because its focusing on the game instead of OBS

I have spotted a flaw with your computer. Your cooler for the 5950x is extremely week. The CPU might have some overheating problems later. You should have at least a 240mm cooler or a 360mm. Your current one is a 120mm. The heat will reduce both the performance and the lifespan of the prosessor. And if the CPU gets hot then it will reduce the clockspeed to prevent it self from melting. This will lower the framerate. In simple terms: Heat bad for FPS. You should look into a better cooling solution. Because when you spend this much money, you want it to last a long time right?
@@Noah-lj2sg This isn't his the main problem he was talking about in the video. I just spotted it at the end. The 5950x has 16 cores and uses a lot of power. A little 120mm isn't simply not enough to cool it. Even if it's good quality 120mm. You are correct the size doesn't matter too much, but that is after 240mm.

It doesn't really matter because he has the best hardware. I don't think it's a bottleneck. It might be that his computer isn't optimized. I used to have a 1050 ti and I could record in 240fps.

It probably is an issue with heat because if you uncap the FPS, the graphics card you have will be pumping out up to 1200 frames per second. This, of course, generates a lot of heat. The newer PC components have a “throttle system” in place. This means that the graphics card will automatically slow itself down a ton, trying to wait until it’s cooled off. This is most likely the issue with recording at uncapped FPS. My computer is 5 years old, and when i uncap the FPS, it normally gets to around 500. However, the graphs card is old and it will keep running until it completely crashes the computer.

Pro Tip: Try not to peel off the film of your case when your PC is on as it could introduce static electricity which could short your computer parts, the chances of it happening are somewhat low but I personally wouldn't take the chance

Also to check if you are overheating, you can download HWmonitor, it’s basically the go to hardware monitoring tool. Just open it while doing something demanding for your pc, and check. (Thermal throttling will be around 80-90 degrees, that’s when you see the speed (hz) go down.
Another thing, recording in 240fps is basically just a waste, you can record in 60 (or like 100-120 if you want slower slo-mo shots), and have your game run in 240. Our eyes think something is smooth at 21 fps (that’s why the first movies were made in 21 FPS), so any higher than 60 is really just overkill unless you are doing super slo-mo stuff.
If u still need help, you can play with uncapped fps while your recording not dying by putting “smooth fps” on, in video settings > performance. That will slightly little bit decrease some fps but its barely noticeable like what it will do is make it consistent and stuff and your recording wont lag
